The Enablement Squad is an online community where Enablement practitioners can network with each other to get advice or share best practices on initiatives, programs, or events they're working on.

As a Co-Founder it is my responsibility and focus area in community engagement
and content. I am responsible for having engaging content, strategic partnerships, interactive
events, and monitoring overall community satisfaction.
● Increased membership to 2,300+ in 3 years by organic growth
● Built out strategic partnerships with vendors and other communities
● Sold the community to Workramp via acquisition in March of 2022.

Now we are going to continue to bring awareness to those searching and help those companies fill those open positions. 

Where does the word Kaius come from? It’s the name of my son, who was placed with us through foster care and adoption. When researching his name it means ‘Rejoice’, which when thinking about what our goal is - we want to be able to rejoice and celebrate a new role or position filled.

The founding member of the Enablement Team, I had to build structure and processes from the ground up. I worked closely with the Product Marketing team to build out customer facing materials and battle cards. 
● Revamped onboarding experience (decreasing ramp time by 45 days)
● Launched company-wide product certification resulting in a 15% lift in ARR while
reducing churn by 27%.
● Built a brand ambassador program for our sales team and CAB members to be proficient
in our sales motion while at events.

A few weeks ago, I joined Champion as their Founding Director of Marketing.

I first met Gianna Scorsone back in early 2023, when they were still building their product. I remember walking away from that conversation feeling like… wow, tech is finally picking up on the power of Customer Marketing. 

Since then, our paths have crossed over and over again, until they eventually became a client of ours at Social Animal 💜🥹 

My first ever role in Customer Marketing taught me that the marketing and revenue teams that are closest to the customer, always have the best message. 

That’s been the thesis of my agency for the last 18 months, and the reason all of my clients have been so successful (patting myself on the back, for sure)

But the technology to support that impact has been missing… until now.

Customer Marketing, Social Advocacy, & Community

2 weeks ago, I asked a 💡 Nolan McCoy for a freelancer recommendation for a really specific project I'm working on for a client. 

Oct 30: Nolan responded the same day, gave me a rec. I reached out, freelancer sent his porfolio.

Nov 3: I emailed freelancer with concept info & asked for pricing. He responded same day, gave me pricing options. 

Nov 4: I present pricing to my Client, my Client agrees, we confirm with the freelancer. 

Nov 7: Contract signed. 

Nov 13: First concept delivered to us, the work is excellent. My client is really happy. 

We had ZERO meetings. 
We didn't evaluate a bunch of options for better pricing. 
We didn't "negotiate" to squeeze every dollar out of the freelancer. 
We looked at his proposal, and made a decision. 

I trust my network when they make recommendations to me. 
 
Could we have cut a few days off of this? Maybe, but who cares. 

My point here, especially after being on the freelance/consulting side for the last 16 months, is to stop overcomplicating everything.
Make decisions. 
You're losing money by letting things sit when they don't need to.

The most valuable lesson I've learned in my career so far & what I believe has led to my biggest opportunities...

Default to action at all times. 

Complete quick tasks that come up live, while you're on the call. 
Respond to the email right after you've read it. 
Knock out easy to do's 5 minutes after the meeting. 

When I stopped making lists of tasks I needed to do later, and just got them done in the moment, I significantly limited my need to do context switching. 

I also stopped forgetting to do the small things!

Figure out where you can cause "spikes", and invest your time and energy there. 
Hire everything else out. 

This is incredible, and maybe obvious, advice I got from Branca Ballot yesterday (everyone go wish her a happy birthday 🥳). 

I was sharing with her how I'm really locked in on certain areas of marketing, and know very little about others, which is something I've been nervous about with stepping into a Director of Marketing role. 

She shared the concept of "spikes" with me. 

Basically, focus on making strong movement in the areas you're really skilled in... 

For me, that's brand, social, customer marketing, community, and content. 

Then, find people that can help you close the gap in areas where you aren't as strong. 

For me, that's anything paid, DG, PMM, mops... basically everything that requires a stronger "left brain" lol

The key is, once you've identified where you can make these spikes, find a company that really needs your strengths.

No one knows how to do everything. 
It's nice to be reminded of that sometimes 🙂
