I got a painting commissioned in Austin!

I was walking on South Congress and stopped by an art piece.

I'm not sure how many people know about Dragon Ball Z. 

But it was Vegeta sitting in a forest meditating.

I loved it, but I wanted the art piece done with Goku.

So I asked the artist if he could make me one with Goku before I left.

I got lucky! 

He doesn't usually do paintings, but they were raising money for a charity and could do it if I donated.

I was in! Commissioned on Saturday, got it by Thursday.

It’s one thing to be called a super connector and another to get the chance to speak on a panel around the topic.

The question Selena asked me was, “ As a super connector, you know a lot of people; how do you figure out who to add to your network and spend time with?”

I don’t think many people actively think about how they “filter” people when they meet them.

I’ve got a few frameworks that I use when deciding how much time to spend with someone. 

But that is for another post.

If someone wants to join my marketing network, it comes down to some core things.

Their values
Their goals
Their ability to perform for my customers
The level of work they do
Do I trust them

And are they in it for the long game?

I want people whom I can trust to do great work and have my customers' best interests at heart. 

I’ve kicked agencies out of my network for lying to me before, when all they had to do was be honest and transparent.

When it comes to my personal friends, the filters aren’t much different. 

I just want friends in my life who are good people, with good values, who want to help others when they can. 

Many bonus points if they’ve spent time reflecting on who they are, what they value, and what is important to them.

I also shared with the room that you will only ever understand other people as deeply as you understand yourself. 

So the first step in connecting with people deeply is that.

Anyways, what a great experience to share on a topic I love.
