Last week my 9-5 role was eliminated. 

I know awful timing…

The economy is down.
The job market is a nightmare.
Life is expensive.

And the holidays are right around the corner.

Most people would panic if they got this news.

And I did at first. 

But then I realized this might just be the push I needed.

I’ve accomplished a lot with my 3 years on the Strategy& team at PwC. 

Learned the art of strategy consulting.

Got to work with incredibly smart people.

Had a great performance year and got promoted.

The more I thought about it. 

I realized this isn’t the end of my story.

It’s an opportunity to start my next chapter.

Consulting made me an architect at problem solving.

It’s part of me, but isn’t all of me.

I’m also a coach. And a builder.

Now, I get to explore those areas of myself with Founder Athlete Inc.  

This isn’t how I imagined I’d exit consulting.

But now I got a great story to tell!

Even when it feels like the worst possible time, you still get to decide what comes next.

The startup ecosystem is allergic to mental health.

At yesterday's Rep Matters Breakfast Club, we had a raw conversation to change that.

Martin Enault, Jerome Mugambi, and I raised the challenges around this mindset.

To founders, mental health is a bad word.

A signal that they don't have what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.

But this is a lie.

Founders believe they always have to tell a positive story about their startup.

That if anything is going wrong, investors will pull funding and their venture will fail.

So when building gets hard, they hide it and suffer in silence.

But this behaviour only leads to burnout.

And it's burnt out founders that are the ticking time bombs.

Here's how we change the conversation:

Instead of focusing on mental health, we reframe to mental performance.

To founders, mental performance is training.

But mental health feels like something is broken.

In reality, it's all the same topic.

Founders just need permission to call it training, not healing.

It starts with people like Phil G. Joseph creating spaces where we can have these conversations to shift the narrative.

This is just the beginning.

For the last year, I've been obsessed with one question:

How can we use AI to accelerate human performance?

This is why I created Founder Athlete.

It's a simple idea.

Create a hybrid identity of innovation, health, and fitness.

Train entrepreneurs like elite athletes.

And athletes like high performing founders.

Then use AI to optimize their performance.

When we do this, we build the ultimate peak performer.
