Guiding marketing strategy for Royal Swimming Pools's push as a national leader e-commerce, as well as their local business. Oversee all aspects of an omnichannel marketing strategy. Blogging, e-books, content marketing, Hubspot integration, email, video, social media, video, billboards and more.

Specific focus is in driving overall awareness of the brand, cementing Royal Swimming Pools as the leader in vinyl swimming pools. This includes not only building out a strong brand identity, but also creating a valuable storehouse of knowledge (through content marketing) to assist customers in not only discovering the brand, but making purchasing decisions.

Major projects undertaken include:
- Put together new blog, and aided in transfer of content to it.
- Built out new general style guide (colors, fonts etc)
- Took over strategic planning of blog content, including outsourcing content, creating content myself, and internal content creation
- Designed our inground pool buying guide eBook
- Added Facebook as a marketing channel and designed all the ads there
- Reworked marketing budget for 2019
- Took over relationship with 3rd party who manages daily Google and Bing ads
- Took over billboard ads
- Started local lead campaigns through Houzz, HomeAdvisor and Facebook
- Designed email followup campaigns for people requesting quotes, downloading ebooks, etc.
- Designed and ordered promo material including signs, truck magnets, stickers, t-shirts, beach balls, etc.
- Hired third-party to implement major Google Analytics tracking fixes
- Implemented additional tracking and analysis tools for SEO and page speed improvement.
- Ongoing project of optimizing previous blog posts for SEO and sales opportunities
- Multiple site traffic and usage analyses to better determine issues, project priority, and scope
- Aided in implementation of Affirm (payments) and BirdEye (customer reviews)

Managed the Marketing Team and worked as a a core member of Senior Management for one of the top 50 grossing mobile games. Helped reverse a downturn in the game’s performance through a full rebuild of the game and marketing strategies, realigning it with growth trajectory of $200M/year in annual revenue and nearly 1,000,000 daily active users.

As Senior Marketing Manager, worked in tandem with the Executive Producer and Product Manager for Jackpot Party, leading not only the marketing team and its strategy, but also the overall game’s branding and presence in the industry. Reported directly to the CMO.

- Joined a team who had previously not had a marketing lead, and realigned team members and structure to build cross-functional proficiency across User Acquisition and CRM channels.
- Directed art team on branding strategies to give Jackpot Party a consistent brand image across all platforms of marketing, communication and in-game experience.
- Worked directly with Facebook, Google and other leading marketing platforms to readjust marketing strategy, spend and targeting of user acquisition campaigns to meet newly defined profit-driven ROI goals.
- As the voice of Marketing (including user acquisition and retention) in the game’s senior management team, pushed for and implemented multiple new technologies, including predictive marketing triggers, direct-to-user in-game targeted communication, e-Mail, push and app-to-user permissions and strategies, and multiple in-game promotional activities.
- Partnered with leading influencers in the casino gaming space to build awareness and user acquisition campaigns, driving high-value players to the game as well as increasing overall brand recognition.

When I first started working online, there was no Internet.

Back in the early 90s, we dialed into things called “bulletin board systems” with our 2400 bps modems, where we chatted and played text-based games. And yeah, even though I hadn’t finished grade school yet, I ran a BBS myself. There was no way I couldn’t – the whole thing blew my mind.

In the mid-90s, the “Internet” came around, and of course, I wanted in. So I started working for an Internet Service Provider (with their racks and racks of ultra-fast 56k modems). I did tech support, sales, and web design. I taught people how to “surf the web.”

Through college, I did a bunch of Internet stuff for the University of Wisconsin. In my spare time, I even launched one of the first music review websites. I ran it for about seven years before selling it to focus on my “professional career.”

My professional career started as a marketing assistant. Sometimes they called me a guerilla marketer. My job was to go to Backstreet Boys fan sites and post about how much I loved the group. That was before there was such a thing as an affiliate program. There weren’t ad networks. We made it up as we went along.

I worked at Musicnotes for over 16 years, and as the Internet industry grew, I grew with it. In my career, I’ve been called Creative Director, Director of Web and Marketing, Chief Growth Officer, and Chief Marketing Officer.

I took an e-commerce publisher from start-up to over 6 million customers and $25 million in annual sales, and once that was done, it was time for a new challenge.

So, I took a short break and consulted with a few other companies on their digital strategies. Eventually, I made a shift to mobile entertainment & commerce and joined Scientific Games, where I led the marketing team for one of the highest-grossing mobile games in the world.

Then I took a break to change the swimming pool industry ... but soon returned to the arts, and ran consumer marketing and digital experience for Hal Leonard — the largest music publisher in the world.

Now I'm taking everything I've learned along the way and applying it as I lead an amazing team at Growth Spark - the best SMB ecom/digital marketing agencies and team of people I've ever worked with.
