I picked up a camera for the first time when I was 6. I still haven’t put it down. I literally have footage from every stage in my life to prove it. From the moment I picked up the Sony Handycam, I was obsessed with storytelling. 

Everybody has a story to tell — whether it’s a hidden voice, a brand or a 6-year-old kid with a camera. In whatever I do, I aim to tell the untold story. 

Currently, I’m Commsor’s in-house video editor! Previously I’ve worked with Lavender, Fleishman-Hillard, GoArmy, Steelcase, University of Florida and more. My skills include Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro X, DSLR + Cinema cameras, videography, photography, influencer marketing, diversity & inclusion, storytelling and writing.

If your captions still look like that (you know the neon green / yellow / red ones)…

You’re probably losing people before they finish the sentence.

Trends work, until everyone uses them. Then the “look” gets oversaturated and people scroll.

My take: keep captions simple and on brand.

You don’t need flashy animations. Viewers are totally fine with clean, TV-style captions.

Captions are for accessibility. The moment they become distracting is the moment you lose your audience.

As someone who grew up in Florida, any flurry of snow is something worth pulling a camera out for 

Also, highlighting the benefits of buying LUTs - I was able to film in LOG and edit this all under 30 minutes because I could just slap a LUT on

This one is from Andrew Paul - his "One-Click Lut"

Usually, I use a base LUT and make custom adjustments (lighting, colors, etc.) myself. But, for the sake of speed, these types of LUTs are awesome

Most, if not all, "free" LUTs won't come out as well color graded as this 🎨

Most people don’t actually hate being on camera. It just feels unnatural.

We didn’t evolve talking to tiny glass rectangles with a red light staring back at us 😅

If you want to sound more confident on video, stop trying to be confident and fix these three things instead:

1. Get clear on the one thing you’re saying
2. Ditch word-for-word scripts
3. Slow your pacing by fixing your breath and posture, not your words

Confidence on camera isn’t a personality trait. It’s a process.

My desk is kind of sacred to me. It’s where the thinking happens. Where ideas turn into execution.

So I take my setup pretty seriously.

Here are five must-haves on my desk as a creative:

1. 0.38 (or thinner) pens + notebooks
 
0.5 is acceptable, but the thinner the pen, the better. And yes, always a notebook nearby to catch thoughts before they disappear.

2. Multiple drinks
 
One big water bottle for hydration… and something fun (dirty chais, smoothies, etc).

3. Fingerboards or fidget toys

Tiny skateboards are my go-to right now, but spinners and mini puzzles have earned desk time too.

4. Noise-canceling headphones

Working around other people = essential. I love hearing my wife practice piano next door, just not while I’m editing. Headphones on, world off.

5. Lights

A desk lamp to save your eyes. A video light to make your content look good. Different jobs, equally important.
