I got rejected for every single trading job I applied for.

Lower than Brown.

Lower than Osborne.

Lower than Sunak.

Even lower than the perceived worst Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng (I liked his direction, by the way)..... 🥵 

And that’s before today’s Budget.

At 12:30pm, Reeves faces the most unforgiving audience in politics:

Not voters.
Not journalists.
Not even her own MPs.

But the bond market. ⬆️ 

Because while you can spin headlines…

You can’t spin yields.

And this morning?

Gilts are already creeping higher.

The market is nervous.

Investors are bracing.

So the real question isn’t:

“Will the public like the Budget?”

It’s:

“Will the market believe her?” 😳 

Because if the bond market doesn’t buy what Reeves is selling…

Yields will spike.

Borrowing costs will jump.

And this “new era of stability” will implode before it even begins.

Eyes on the gilt market today.

The numbers won’t lie, even if the politicians do.

Nightmare on Downing Street: Budget Day..... 🥵 

Later today, the Labour Government will deliver a Budget that could change the direction of the country. 😳 

And to be brutally honest?

I’m expecting a horror show.

Not because I’m anti-Labour.

Not because I enjoy the political theatre.

But because the early signals are already flashing red:

❌ Anti-business rhetoric
❌ Anti-investment proposals
❌ Anti-growth mentality
❌ Anti-mobility tax targeting
❌ Anti-entrepreneurship policy direction..........

It feels like after 14 years of economic drift, the new plan is...

“Let’s drift even harder.” 🥵 

This is Budget Day, but unlike Christmas Day, I’m definitely not excited. 🫣 

There’s no buzz. No optimism. No sense of economic vision.

Just a government that thinks taxing mobility in a digital world is good policy.

A government that thinks you can squeeze the people who create jobs
and somehow end up with more jobs. 🫣 

A government that thinks growth is optional and taxes are the strategy.

A government that doesn’t understand that in 2025:

📦 Doctors can move to Dubai
💻 Tech founders can move to Lisbon
📈 Investors can move capital instantly
🏦 Directors can re-domicile their companies in 24 hours
✈️ And high earners can relocate at the tap of an app......

This isn’t 1970.

This is a digital, mobile, global economy, and Labour are still writing policy like the internet hasn’t been invented yet.

That’s why:

🔥 6,100 company directors left the UK this year
🔥 A 43% jump
🔥 Mostly the industries that push GDP, innovation, and tech are leaving....

And today they’re about to announce more policies…

Written by people who think raising taxes is the same as raising productivity.

It’s not.

You can’t tax your way to growth.

You can’t squeeze your way to investment.

And you can’t lecture your way to innovation.

If this Budget isn’t PRO-GROWTH, then it’s PRO-DECLINE.

It’s that simple.

If you wanted a visual representation of yesterday’s Budget… here it is:

🔥 Britain’s money. Going up in flames. One policy at a time.

Because whether they admit it or not, this was the story:

Tax the workers.

Squeeze the aspirational.

Expand the welfare state.

Kill growth.

Burn what’s left. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

That wasn’t a plan.

This was a bonfire.

And the most worrying part?

They think it’s good policy. Really!!!! 🤬🤬

They genuinely believe they’re “fixing” things.

Meanwhile:

UK growth projections slashed.

Productivity downgraded.

Borrowing up.

Confidence down!!!!

But sure… light the match and laugh.

We’re in trouble unless this mindset changes, and fast.🤬🤬🤬

Has Labour already given up on growth? 🥵 

I’m asking that seriously.

Let’s give them some credit, yesterday’s Budget wasn’t the catastrophe many expected. Only a little credit though!!!

But if this is what we’re going to see for the next few years…

We may as well accept that real economic growth is now optional in Britain.

Because the mindset on display yesterday can be summed up in one line:

“Squeeze the workers and the aspirational…and expand the welfare state.” 🥵 

Madness.

Short-term politics.

Zero long-term vision.

You do not grow an economy by punishing ambition.

You do not build prosperity by squeezing productivity.

You do not create momentum by taxing the very people who generate it.

We need the opposite approach:

✔ Slash wasteful spending
✔ Cut tax (yes, cut)
✔ Encourage aspiration
✔ Reward productivity
✔ Make Britain attractive to talent and capital again.....

If they did that, the economy would boom, and the tax revenues would take care of themselves.

In short:

The Budget wasn’t disastrous…

But the mindset definitely is.

Until the UK changes its attitude towards growth, growth will continue to be nothing more than a distant memory.

It’s Budget Eve in the UK… and unlike Christmas Eve, I’m not exactly excited. 🥲🥲🥲

We’re hours away from another round of political announcements, economic promises, tax adjustments, and headline-chasing soundbites.

But I’ve only got one wish this year:

👉 Whatever policies are announced, I just want the country to look at the Budget as a whole and say:

“Yes… that’s pro-growth.”

Because without growth, nothing else works.🙃

Not the NHS.
Not wages.
Not public services.
Not productivity.
Not investment.
Not the future. 🥲

If Labour wants to prove it understands business, wealth creation, and economic momentum, this is their moment.

Now I’m curious…

It’s time to say goodbye to the next generation of UK business leaders, because they’re leaving. In droves. 🫣 

Here’s the number no one in Westminster wants to talk about:

110,000 young people aged 16–34 emigrated in the 12 months to June.

That’s two-thirds of all departures.

Wow......

It’s not just the wealthy escaping a hostile tax environment.

Not just business owners tired of being squeezed.

Not just high earners voting with their feet.

It’s young, ambitious, mobile talent, the future founders, innovators, wealth-creators and leaders. 🫣 

And they’re not sticking around to see what Labour’s policies will look like in a few years.

They already know.

This is what happens when you build a climate that:

Punishes aspiration
Discourages entrepreneurship
Demonises success
And treats economic growth as optional......

You lose the people who were meant to carry the country forward.

The data doesn’t lie:

Britain is becoming unattractive to anyone who wants to build, grow, innovate or get ahead. 🫣 

And unless this mindset shifts, the talent drain has only just begun.

Trump says he’s determined to bring peace to Ukraine. 😳 

But the real question is this:

Does Putin even want peace? 🤔 

We’ve been here multiple times now.

Washington pushes hard for a deal, headlines claim a breakthrough, Ukraine is pressured into terms they don’t love, Europe gets involved, everyone insists progress is being made…

…and then?

Putin stalls.

Delays.

Waits.

And the cycle resets.

We’re four years into this war.

Four years of talks, false dawns, “promising signals,” and tactical silence from Moscow.

I genuinely hope this latest peace effort leads somewhere, the world needs stability, and Ukraine deserves certainty.

But how many times can we do this dance?

My honest view:

Peace is possible… but only if Putin actually wants it.

And history suggests he prefers leverage over resolution.
