I’ve been floating about on here for 10+ years. 
And I just crossed 13K followers, so it feels like a good moment to (re)introduce myself.

I’m Mike, a 44-year-old consultant helping other consultants build simpler, more scalable businesses, born in Poland - where winters are long, people are direct, and resilience is kind of built into the culture.

This is my story so far

2006: Built a career in corporate as a lawyer, fraud investigator, and consultant inside large organizations 
2016: Left Poland and moved to Canada with imperfect English and a lot to prove 
2017: Burned out hard and walked away from corporate life without a clear plan 
2017–2020: Built and scaled multiple agencies across different countries and learned that “bigger” doesn’t always mean “better” 
2021: Shifted into solo consulting and started helping experts productize their work and scale without building teams 
Today: Running programs, workshops, and advisory helping consultants simplify their offers, redesign delivery, and scale with fewer, better clients

It was my birthday last week.
And it ended with me crying.

Not because it was bad.
But because it was… a lot.

This time I didn’t celebrate on the actual day.
The celebrations started two days before.
And stretched into the next.

Everything was perfect.

I tried new things.
Shopped like I had a gift card from the universe.
Got my nails done.
Got my hair done.

On the outside it was all
“Yay, it’s my birthday.”

But somewhere beneath the glow…
I felt heavy.

Not sad.
Just aware.

Aware that life is quietly moving.
That years are stacking up.

That time does not pause just because you look good in a birthday dress.

I know I’m still young.
Opportunities are endless.

But with every birthday, the urge grows stronger:

To do bigger.
To do better.
To live more aligned.

And I reflect.
A lot.

Most people live 99% and reflect 1%.

I live 1% and reflect 99%.

It sounds profound.
Until it isn’t.

Because when you think deeply all the time…
You can spiral.

And I almost did.

On the way to dinner, I lightly crashed my car into the one in front of me that stopped suddenly.
Minor. No damage. No one hurt.

But I’m overly critical.

So instead of laughing it off…

I replayed it in my head through the entire birthday dinner with my closest friends.

By the time I got home, I hugged my mom and cried.

Later we realized I was PMSing.
Hard.

But that didn’t make the feelings fake.

We talked.
She held me close.

She told me I’m growing gracefully. Beautifully.
That everyone is proud.

And then she said something that stayed:

“𝘋𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸.”

That night felt like a roller coaster.

But it ended in comfort.

And the next day at the gym, a 10th grader asked me if I was in 10th too.

What an ego boost. 

So I guess… all’s cool.

Birthdays aren’t just balloons and cake.
They’re mirrors.

Sometimes you like what you see.
Sometimes you question it.

But either way… you’re still here.
Still becoming.

And maybe that’s worth celebrating too.

For months, I was convinced I had ADHD.

Too restless. Too wired.
Too many tabs open in my head.

I couldn’t sit still.
Couldn’t switch off.

Couldn’t relax without guilt crawling up my spine.

After months of brushing it off, I finally went to a psychiatrist.
Then a psychologist.

Multiple assessments.

It wasn’t ADHD.

It was anxiety.

Not just clinical anxiety.
Personality-driven anxiety.

The kind that hides behind achievement.

Hyper-vigilant.
Hyper-independent.
High ambition.
Over-functioning.

The kind that looks impressive on LinkedIn.
But feels exhausting in private.

When your worth gets fused to your output…
Productivity stops being a tool.

It becomes your identity.

Sitting idle feels illegal.
Rest feels irresponsible.
Taking a day off feels like falling behind.

You tell yourself it’s drive.
You call it hunger.
You brand it as discipline.

But underneath?

It’s fear.

Fear of being average.
Fear of wasting your potential.
Fear of being left behind.

And the cruelest part…

Even when you win, you don’t land.

In the last year:

→ Another TEDx talk next week
→ Stages I once watched on YouTube
→ Built a team from scratch
→ Built a business from nothing
→ 110,000 people here supporting this journey

On paper… acceleration.

In quiet moments?

“𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭?”

The high lasts minutes.
The self-critique lasts days.

I used to think my goal was freedom.

Time freedom.
Financial freedom.
Location freedom.

But what I’m realizing now…

If you don’t build a life outside your ambition,
your ambition becomes your cage.

When your career is the main source of validation → every dip feels existential.

When productivity is your self-esteem → slow seasons feel like identity loss.

When achievement is your coping mechanism → stillness feels unsafe.

No one talks about this side of high performance.

The part where you’re praised for outcomes
while privately negotiating with your nervous system.

So I’m starting targeted therapy.

Not because I’m weak.

Because I’m tired of succeeding externally
while feeling like I’m behind internally.

I know I’m not alone in this.

To the founders.
The operators.
The over-functioners.

The ones who look calm but are constantly bracing for impact.

Where are you at right now?

And when was the last time you felt proud…
without immediately asking yourself what’s next?

I just gave my second TEDx talk. This time at IIT Kharagpur.

And for a second…
it didn’t feel real.

Because if you had told the younger me, the girl who loved school stages, that one day she’d be speaking at TEDx in one of India’s most prestigious IITs…

I would’ve laughed.

Or assumed you were talking about someone else.

But life has a strange way of quietly building the things you once only imagined.

Here’s the part most people didn’t see.

For the last two weeks, I had completely disappeared from LinkedIn.

No posts.
No activity.

And a surprising number of people checked in asking if I was:

Burnt out.
Exhausted.
Taking a break.

The truth?

I was in full grind mode.

Catching flights.
Travelling across cities.
Attending my closest friend’s wedding.
Living out of a suitcase.

All while preparing to step onto that stage.

What’s even crazier is this,

After my first TEDx talk in 2024, I received 6-7 TEDx invitations over the last two years.

But every single time…
something got in the way.

Date clashes.
Travel conflicts.
Commitments I couldn’t move.

So when the invitation came from IIT Kharagpur…

I knew I had to make it happen.

Even if it meant surviving an entire week on 2-3 hours of sleep a night.

And yet… I’ve never been this tired.

Or this fulfilled.

Because standing on that stage brought me back to a memory.

The younger version of me who loved:

Speech competitions.
Debates.
Poetry recitations.
Hosting events just to feel the thrill of a microphone in hand.

Back then, the stage was just a place I loved.
Today, it has become part of the life I’m building.

And somewhere between the flights, the chaos, the rehearsals, and the talk itself…

It hit me.

As a young girl, I used to watch successful women who were always on the move.

Travelling.
Speaking.
Building.

People constantly asking them:

“Are you even in town this week?”

I remember thinking…

𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵.

What I didn’t realize back then was this:

Slowly, quietly…

𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁.

The events.
The travel.
People coordinating through calendars and schedules.

The life I once dreamed about
has slowly become my everyday reality.

Now that I’m finally back (and almost rejuvenated)…
I’m taking a moment to sit with the gratitude.

Because exhaustion feels different
when it comes from living a life you once prayed for.

And while there are days I miss the calm…

In no universe would I trade this one
for anything smaller.

Because guessing kills scale

If I can’t see:

I strongly believe that AI doesn’t replace operators
It exposes weak ones… and multiplies strong ones
