if you're against making data-driven decisions from your GTM agency's website's traffic, don't set up these 3 free tools (they take just minutes to set up)


i spoke to an outbound agency doing who did just under $200k in revenue in January who didn't have a single analytics tool set up. 

in fact many agency owners i speak to have zero visibility into what's actually happening. they have no idea into who’s visiting their site, how they found it, or what they did when they got there. 

that's a lot of missed data.

your website is one of the few assets you actually own. your LinkedIn account could get suspended tomorrow, your YouTube channel could get taken down overnight. 

but your website and the traffic coming to it? 

nobody can take that away from you. it makes sense to actually understand what's happening on it.

here are 3 free tools that you could literally install in the next 15 minutes that fixes that (links to set up guides in the comments 👇):

1. Google Analytics - see who's visiting, where they're coming from, and which pages are actually getting attention

2. Microsoft Clarity - watch heatmaps and session recordings of real users navigating your site. you'll be surprised what you find

3. Google Search Console - see the exact keywords people are typing into Google to find you. this alone can reshape your entire content strategy

all three are free and take just minutes to set up.

and when it comes time to rebuilding or updating your site, you're not having to guess anymore - you're building around what the data is already telling you.

going up-market sounds great in theory: higher prices, better clients, bigger opportunities.

what doesn’t get talked about is the transition phase in between, especially for agencies whose offer has evolved faster than their website.

you don’t just decide to charge more and suddenly attract larger, more sophisticated buyers.

there’s usually an uncomfortable middle period where your old ICP starts to drop off, the new one isn’t fully convinced yet, and deals take longer to move forward.

cash can feel tighter during this phase, even though you’re technically “levelling up.”

a big reason this happens is perception. you could have:
- sharp positioning
- strong delivery
- results that justify the price

but for an enterprise buyer, your website silently qualifies you long before you ever speak to them.

and if it still reflects who you were 12 months ago, it doesn’t give them the signals they need to feel confident moving forward.

things like how clearly your offer is framed, how outcomes are communicated, and whether your proof looks relevant at their scale all matter more than most teams expect.

when those signals are weak or missing, trust slows down.

this creates friction.

you find yourself doing more explaining on calls, over-contextualising pricing, walking through slides that repeat what your website should already show, and sending extra follow-ups just to fill in the gaps.

not because the work isn’t good but because proof doesn’t automatically transfer up-market.

what worked to win smaller, earlier-stage clients will not necessarily work with larger, more mature buyers.

every time you move up a tier, part of the game resets.

this includes new buyers, higher standards, and a different perception of what feels credible to your ICP - much of which is shaped by how you show up online.

the teams that move through this phase fastest aren’t the ones pretending they’ve already made it. they’re the ones willing to realign everything, including their website, with where they’re heading now.

this can feel like taking a step backwards, but it’s really the cost of progression.

going up-market isn’t just a pricing decision, but a shift in how you are perceived.
