A bit about me:
I was born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic, and came to the U.S. after being recruited to play Division I basketball. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I didn’t want to leave the States, so I applied for an OPT visa and landed a job as an agency recruiter. I spent six years in that role, gaining valuable experience, navigating multiple visas, and eventually obtaining my Green Card.

I’m passionate about helping job seekers, especially international students, because I know how challenging the process can be.

In my free time, I love to travel. I’ve been to 25+ countries and counting! Some of my favorites include Bali, Thailand, the French Riviera, and Key West, FL. I’m also a huge foodie and love all Asian cuisine and seafood.

Having a hybrid job and being able to work from home three days a week really changed a lot for me.

I think my fiancé is probably tired of hearing how much I enjoy it but I really do. 😅

My mornings now start with a healthy breakfast and a good cup of coffee. 

I’m able to move more (the under-desk treadmill is SO good), sleep more, and get to the gym consistently.

I’m not rushing all the time anymore, no more carrying 1,589 containers of prepped food or feeling like I never see the people I care about.

I took a pay cut to take this job, but gaining balance, time, and peace of mind has been worth far more.

It’s a tough market right now. Applicants are struggling, second-guessing themselves, and overthinking every detail.

Here are some things I DO NOT care about as a Recruiter:

*If your resume is 1 or 3 pages long
*If you seem a bit nervous in an interview
*If your resume is saved as a PDF or a Word doc
*If you wear a full suit to an interview or a nice shirt
*If you take a moment to think before answering a question

What most recruiters care about: 
Are you genuinely interested in the role? Does your skillset align with the role? Do you know a little bit about the company? Do you ask insightful questions?

The rest? It’s noise. 

And remember, you can still do EVERYTHING right and not be selected for the role. That is the market we are in, it is not you.

Welcome back, everyone! After not spending much time on LinkedIn over the last 3 weeks, I’m excited for 2026!

My plan is to continue helping job seekers, sharing tips and encouragement, and continuing to be a candidate advocate.

I’m excited to continue partnering with some amazing brands (stay tuned), and more exciting things are coming that I’m not ready to reveal yet.

This is a message I got on WhatsApp this morning.

A few reminders from a recruiter:
📍No legit recruiter will only reach out via text or WhatsApp. We’ll call or email first, then maybe text.
📍There’s no company name here. That’s a red flag.
📍We will always tell you what business we’re reaching out from.
📍“I came across your profile” ...where exactly?

I get a ton of spam messages and emails, and I’m not even open to new opportunities. I honestly can’t imagine how bad it is for job seekers with an Open to Work banner.

PLEASE check the source, the company, and whether the person reaching out is legitimate.

And one more thing: never, ever pay anyone money for a job opportunity.

Stay safe out there 🫶

Every day, I get messages from job seekers who are scared because of the uncertainty.

The uncertainty about immigration changes.
The uncertainty of the job market and when it will change.
The uncertainty about rising inflation affects nearly everything.

Yes, I am employed, but I still see and hear you. 

One thing we can do is to stay together and keep helping each other.

I’ve been receiving so many messages asking for help with visas and navigating the job search. I do not have the bandwidth to reply to all, but I did chat with a few job seekers yesterday on my day off.

There are many things we can do to stay together and make these uncertain times feel a bit more manageable.

If you’re in a position to help, do what you can.
Kindness and community make all the difference. 💕

I hope everyone is staying safe during this brutal storm.

I hope employers are allowing work from home or shutting down offices in industries where it’s easy to do so.

I hope our essential workers are able to get to work safely. 
We all appreciate the hard work you do to keep everyone else safe.

I come from a place in Europe where we barely get snow, so living in upstate NY and getting 20+ inches of snow is something I’m still getting used to.

I’m grateful for remote work and for not having to worry about my safety on the roads.

32 years in and so excited what’s ahead!🎂

Birthdays always make me pause for a moment, to look back at where I’ve been, what I’ve learned, and where I’m headed. This one feels especially meaningful.

So much has changed over the years, and a lot of the growth came from moments that felt uncertain at the time. 

I’m so grateful for the people and experiences that shaped me along the way.

2026 feels extra meaningful for me, with a wedding and so many exciting things ahead 🤍

The biggest thing I tell job seekers? 

It’s not all just about what’s on your resume, it’s about how you show up.

A few days ago, I met with a recent graduate who is still searching for a job since May. I asked her how she feels she does in interviews and if she needs any help. She says she feels okay, but she feels awkward talking about her successes and accomplishments.

This is so common! Many candidates, especially recent grads, find it uncomfortable to share their wins. 

But you have to! Interviews are your chance to show the value you bring, and employers want to hear about your achievements. It is not bragging, we want to hear all about it!

Write down all your wins and successes and practice your interview answers!

Own your story, and don’t be afraid to share it 😊

Recently, a brand reached out to me about a partnership. 
A brand I like, but I already partner with their competitor, so it wasn’t the right time. 

Instead, I sent them a few of my favorite creators to reach out to.

Around the same time, a creator recommended me to a brand I REALLY like, and I’ve now partnered with them on a few collabs 🙏 

This is what giving back means, supporting others without expecting anything in return.

Maybe it’s not your turn right now, but supporting others costs nothing and can change someone’s path.

Whether it’s recommending them for a job, sending someone a job posting, a brand deal recs, or simply dropping their name in a room full of powerful people.

In my agency recruiting days, I hired people for other businesses.

In my new job as an in-house recruiter, it’s different. I recruit only for our company. We hire externally, but we also promote a lot internally.

And if you think extending an external offer is fun and rewarding, the feeling that comes with internal movement is priceless.

I had a candidate tell me the other week that she’s looking to stay with Excelsior for a very long time and loves that she can move between departments, learn more, and earn more.

I’ve always been a big proponent of internal promotion. It’s not always an option, but in many cases, it is.

It keeps employees motivated, they see an opportunity for growth, and it all helps keep retention high.

This is the kind of recruiting that reminds me why I love what I do 🫶

To my fellow immigrants: I see you. I hear you. I stand with you.

This is a difficult and emotional time for so many of us (regardless of status). 

With more countries being added to travel bans, the uncertainty is very real.

Just remember - you are not alone. Our stories matter 🫶🫶

This is one of my hacks, along with having a hybrid job!

The beginning of January is a great time to submit your PTO and start planning your trips or staycations.

Planning time off early gives you something to look forward to, helps you avoid burnout, and makes it easier to balance work and life throughout the year.
