Google Ads is not a quick win. 
 
People often say PPC is the fastest way to grow online. 
 
There's some truth to that because of the nature of demand capture. 
 
But in no way is it a quick win. 
 
Anyone can set up a campaign these days (pMax?!). 
 
But it takes a high level of expertise to build a successful account that optimizes towards your goals. 
 
Especially with the limited insights we're getting. 
 
Stop saying Google Ads is a quick win. 
 
It's hard, and it takes time to master.

My big goal for 2026 is to do less, but better (this was hard for me to adapt to).

My default has always to get shit done by working more and hard.

But now that I have a baby, I simply don’t have the time. And I can no longer stick to rigid (morning) routines because you never know how the nights go.

And that’s ok.

Taylor Housden’s talk at The PPC Summit reminded me to do less, but better.

It’s the ultimate way to force myself to stay focused on what truly matters in business, and simply not do unimportant fluffy tasks.

But don’t get me wrong: I still love what I do. It’s just that having a baby made me realize there’s so much more to life.

And if you have kids, you know all the cliches are true — especially around spending time with them.

As I get older, I realize more and more how fast time passes by… and no matter how present you try to be, it will always slip through your fingers.

So in 2026, I’ll do less, but better:

- Saying no to things that don’t support my goals
- Nailing the fundamentals in Google Ads
- Less content, but higher quality

The ultimate goal is to increase results without increasing time (and not in an entitled “skipping steps” way, but in a healthy “stick to the fundamentals” kind of way).

All so that I can spend more time with my kids, family, in nature, working out, traveling, exploring new hobbies, meeting cool people…

You know, the things that REALLY matter.

Lately, there's been a lot of talk from PPC Experts who say you should remove your negative keyword lists from your campaigns.

The idea is that over time, you might over-exclude by adding too many negatives and therefore restrict the algorithm.

Some even go so far as to say that you don’t need any exclusions at all, because Smart Bidding has evolved, and it knows better.

While we fully understand the concept, we always experiment first and let the data speak for itself.

So, Bob ran a 2.5-month experiment within all Search campaigns for a Lead Gen client.

The results were surprising to say the least...

Experts on what works now with Google Ads

Lately, I've seen a lot of people brag about getting a high ROAS:

- "We hit 700% ROAS!"
- “We helped a client get 12x ROAS!"

Nice results... But what does that actually tell you?

Without context, absolutely nothing.

Unfortunately, too many clients and Google Ads Specialists still think a higher ROAS always equals better results.

A high ROAS may look impressive, but without digging into margins, CAC, and volume…

It doesn’t say much.

You can have a high ROAS, but still be unprofitable.

What's your go-to metric? Is it still ROAS or something else?

The highest leverage thing you can do as a PPC Specialist is diagnose what the biggest growth constraint is, and then do everything you can to solve it.

That is how you unlock true scale, not by following a standardized optimization roadmap.

Everything that is not directly related to solving the biggest constraint is a distraction.

We just finished an EPIC workshop by Bob in The PPC Hub about RSA testing. 

Bob broke down the exact framework he uses, using asset-level performance data and AI, to scale creative testing in his Google Ads accounts.

He shared his complete 𝗜𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗽 framework:

14 key traits of Elite PPC Specialists

One of the coolest things to me is when people leave The PPC Hub and rejoin.

In an online membership, it’s naive to think nobody will ever leave.

There are always people leaving because they are done learning, get a new job, quit PPC, or when they don’t have time to participate anymore.

But lately, there have been a lot of people who rejoined The PPC Hub after leaving earlier.

To me, that’s the biggest compliment and it makes me very proud.

A quick reminder, if your Black Friday sale has ended, here are 5 high-impact tips to protect your efficiency:

(Don't use these yet if your client is also running a Cyber Monday sale)

𝟭: 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀. The worst thing you can do is to keep spending on the same level as when the BF sale was live. So make sure you decrease your budgets to normal levels.

𝟮: 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗣𝗔/𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗦 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀. Before Black Friday, you’ve probably ramped up your spend by setting more aggressive targets. Now is the time to set more conservative targets to preserve your profits.

𝟯: 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝗶𝗱 𝗔𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. If I expect a conversion rate drop of more than 30% (either on the account-level or on specific campaigns), I will use Negative Seasonality Bid Adjustments (SBAs with negative targets). 

This will inform the Smart Bidding algorithm that you’re expecting a conversion rate drop, and as a result it will spend less aggressively. But don’t use negative SBAs lightly.

Only use them if you really think there will a huge drop-off after a big peak. Beware that if you use Seasonality Bid Adjustments with a negative target, your spend will go down drastically and so will your conversions.

𝟰: 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀. Many campaigns performed well during Black Friday, but that doesn’t mean the performance stays that way. Pause anything that shows signs of slowing down significantly to protect your efficiency.

𝟱: 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀. Make sure everything goes back to normal: ads, campaigns, audience targeting, etc.

Don't be afraid to pause things and reduce spend aggressively. One day of overspend can easily kill all your Black Friday gains.

So be careful this week... 

But some clients go straight into Cyber Monday and Christmas after, while others have a bit of a break.

So always use your own head when deciding which tactics you should use:

Fun with Cursor. 

I have connected the Gmail API and the Calendar API to Cursor, and now it becomes my personal email assistant. 

Now I can ask things like: 
"What email do I have today? 
"What needs replying?" 
"Download all invoices I've received."
"Draft an email for ..."

I also have connected the Google Ads API, so I can ask it to fetch data, create reports, and email them instantly.

Time to sharpen the rules for Cursor. 

Yesterday i received an email from a developer telling me they've updated the url structure of my clients website. So i've asked cursor to get the email and fix the Google Ads URLs. 

What Cursor did:

Fetch the email - Great
Matched it with the right client - Great
Got all the URLs from the Ads - Great
Compared them with the new URLs - Great
Updatet the URLs in Google Ads - Great

But then:

Replied to the web developer - What the ....

This is what can happen when you FAFO i guess.
