Mitch Gerber has spent more than 10 years in collegiate sports helping leverage some of the nations premier brands including Virginia Tech Athletics, Penn State University, the University of Florida, the Big 12 Conference, and more. From 2018 to 2022, Mitch operated as the On-Air Talent/Feature Content Producer with Penn State Athletics where he was tasked with covering 31 premier sports. Prior to his time in Happy Valley, Mitch was the On-Air Talent for the University of Florida, the Big 12 Conference, and Iowa State Athletics. Mitch’s innovative mindset has helped him reach over 100 million people throughout his career. He’s responsible for launching more than 30 live shows that aired across multiple verified team accounts and regional TV outlets. His work has been featured on the SEC Network, Big Ten Network, FS1, and multiple Fox Sports regional properties. Mitch has also spent time in the private sector with J1S and LDWW.

In my current role as Director of Admissions and Recruitment for Online Programs, I lead a dynamic in-house admissions team alongside external partners to successfully recruit and enroll over 400 students across five online master’s programs and two professional certificates in my first year. Despite a challenging landscape for graduate enrollment, I’ve driven significant growth by implementing strategic initiatives tailored to our target audience.

I also spearhead the development of a comprehensive reporting strategy that integrates data from both internal and external sources. By collaborating with multiple departments, I establish key performance indicators (KPIs) that inform our annual goal-setting process, ensuring alignment and accountability across our initiatives.

Director, Admissions & Recruitment - Online Programs

McDonald's

As the Global Measurement and Insights Manager at McDonald’s, I led a group of both internal and external partners in developing an industry-leading primary research program that provided the Global Board of Directors with critical insights into the company’s reputation and key business drivers across our top ten markets. This initiative enhanced our strategic decision-making and aligned our understanding of market dynamics. 

I successfully led a large, cross-functional team of stakeholders and external agencies, orchestrating the structuring of global survey inputs and the recruitment of respondents. My ability to synthesize large volumes of data into actionable insights on a quarterly basis empowered both global and market teams to make informed decisions.

Additionally, I directed the development of an initiative impact methodology, demonstrating the effects of our campaigns on business objectives, including brand awareness, trust, and admiration. To foster a culture of insight-driven strategy, I developed and hosted a series of learning sessions for hundreds of colleagues, ensuring that our findings were integrated into long-term strategic planning.

Manager, Communications Measurement & Insights (Brand Reputation)

In my role as Digital & Social Strategy Supervisor at McDonald’s, I spearheaded the development and implementation of the first long-term measurement success plan for the Corporate digital ecosystem. This initiative articulated the return on investment (ROI) for our business unit, providing clarity and direction for future digital strategies.

I led all optimization efforts within the digital ecosystem, focusing on audience segmentation, search engine optimization (SEO), and social strategy. By leveraging actionable insights, I ensured our digital initiatives were not only effective but also aligned with broader business objectives, driving engagement and enhancing our online presence.

As Project Management Supervisor in the Global Communications department at McDonald’s, I played a pivotal role in aligning priorities across our leadership team to shape the department's strategic vision. This involved facilitating collaboration and ensuring that our initiatives were cohesively directed toward our overarching goals.

I also consulted with the Public Affairs function to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings. By fostering better collaboration among a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, I helped streamline processes and enhance the effectiveness of our communications strategies.

Global Communications Supervisor

In my role as Newsroom Editorial Supervisor, I managed the newsroom website (news.mcdonalds.com), where I developed a comprehensive three-year growth plan and executed an always-on editorial calendar, ensuring a steady stream of engaging content. I also provided monthly reporting to assess performance and inform future strategies.

Additionally, I oversaw a creative agency in crafting strategic creative briefs that aligned with our brand-building objectives. This collaborative approach allowed us to create impactful content that resonated with our audience and reinforced McDonald’s brand identity.

Newsroom Editorial Supervisor

Harry Caray's Restaurant Group

As the Senior Public Relations Manager, I was the primary contact for PR and event management across all restaurant events, from radio and TV remotes to large-scale celebrity gatherings. My role involved building and nurturing relationships with media outlets to ensure impactful coverage and engagement.

I developed the first brand standards guide for Harry Caray’s restaurants and the Chicago Sports Museum, establishing a cohesive identity that enhanced our brand recognition. By overhauling the planning processes for our annual events, I significantly increased operational efficiency and boosted revenue.

Additionally, I crafted compelling new brand copy for seven restaurants and the museum, supporting a comprehensive website redesign and enhancing our overall brand image. My contributions helped elevate our visibility and position within the competitive hospitality sector.

Senior Public Relations Manager

As the Marketing Manager, I led a team of marketing specialists and interns in the conceptualization, design, and execution of comprehensive marketing campaigns for all Harry Caray’s Restaurant Group holdings. My leadership fostered a collaborative environment that drove creativity and innovation.

I coordinated extensive advertising efforts, managing budgets, negotiating contracts, and conducting post-run analyses to measure effectiveness and optimize future campaigns. Additionally, I served as the primary PR and event management contact for all restaurant events, including radio and TV remotes as well as high-profile celebrity gatherings, ensuring successful execution and media coverage.

My strategic approach to marketing and event management helped enhance brand visibility and engagement across various platforms, solidifying our position in the competitive hospitality industry.

As a Creative & Digital Associate, I developed and executed dynamic social media campaigns and content calendars, creating engaging graphics and copy that resonated with target audiences. I actively managed and engaged with over 20 social media communities daily on behalf of our clients, fostering connections and enhancing brand presence.

I oversaw all aspects of social media, content marketing, and email campaigns, ensuring cohesive messaging across platforms. Additionally, I populated and managed franchise blogs for clients across various industries, enhancing their online visibility and thought leadership.

My role involved daily communication with clients via phone and email, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring their needs were met. I also served as the primary video editor for all agency accounts, producing high-quality content that amplified our clients' narratives.

Creative and Digital Associate

As a Game Entertainment Producer for the Aberdeen IronBirds, I coordinated and executed digital initiatives that included social media management and website content creation, enhancing our online presence and fan engagement. I collaborated closely with the Game Entertainment Director to roll out multiple promotional campaigns across Minor League Baseball (MiLB), driving brand awareness and excitement.

In addition to campaign management, I worked directly with the Corporate Sales department to enhance sponsorship fulfillment, both in-stadium and online. I also coordinated production scripts and directed live game broadcasts for MiLB.tv and the Cal Ripken World Series, ensuring a seamless viewing experience for fans.

My responsibilities included creating in-stadium graphics for the IronBirds and managing payroll reporting, scheduling, and training for a team of 25 interns, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
