Just read 1,000 Simultaneous Experiments by Gigi Levy-Weiss on NFX's blog and wanted to share some takeaways as it really put language to how we already operate at PDQ.

It's well written, talking about how the real shift isn't AI as efficiency. 
It's AI as leverage.

Software is no longer a tool. It's labor. The job is not to perfect a single idea but to run as many parallel experiments as possible and let reality decide.

That is how we think about checkout. Not one static flow. Hundreds of experiments running across segments, offers, delivery promises, incentives. Always learning. Always implementing.



When experiments are cheap, playing it safe becomes the biggest risk.

In 2014, I visited Israel for the first time.

I went for two weeks to see friends.

Four years later, I came back with a wife, and completely changed as a person. 

A lot of my adult life started there. Personally and professionally. My career took shape in ways I didn’t expect. 

This June (7–11), I’m heading back again. This time to lead a small delegation of eCommerce and consumer tech operators on an insider mission exploring Israel’s commerce and consumer tech ecosystem, alongside Dov Quint and with David Nakar and the Israel Tech Mission (David Siegel.) 

We’ll spend time with founders and operators building the infrastructure behind modern eCommerce. Payments, data, fraud, CX, logistics. The systems brands rely on every day, often without realizing where they were built or how they came to be.

We’ll meet founders, operators, and investors in the consumer space. Eat ridiculously good food, and make our way around the state. 

It’s about getting context you can’t get from afar. Seeing things up close. Having real conversations with people who are building, operating, and scaling under real constraints.

74% of marketers say they plan to increase influencer marketing budgets in 2026, and 59% are already using AI to find creators, manage workflows, and analyze performance.

Those two stats explain most of what’s changing in this channel.

Aspire surveyed nearly 900 marketers and creators for its 2026 State of Influencer Marketing report, drawing on eight years of first-party platform data. 

Across the findings, the direction is consistent: influencer programs are becoming more structured, more measurable, and more directly tied to revenue.

A few other data points are worth paying attention to:

- TikTok Shop adoption nearly doubled year over year, with 32% of brands already selling on the platform and another 25% planning to launch soon. 

- Creator content is now firmly part of the paid media stack, with 77% of brands repurposing it into ads and 67% baking usage rights into contracts upfront. 

- Creators on Aspire drove $52M in attributed affiliate sales last year, representing 45% year-over-year growth.

If you run growth, paid, or retention, this matters less as a “creator trend” and more as an operating decision. The teams investing here are building systems that scale and can be measured, while others are still managing this channel manually.

Building social accounts in 2926 continues to be a simple game. 

And still, very few are playing it well. 

Do well and you’re in the single digits.

If you’ve been online over the last few weeks, you’ve seen the same things I have. 

Q4 was either described as incredible, disastrous, or the moment the recession everyone has been predicting since 2022 finally decided to arrive.

From where I sit, it looked maybe a tiny bit less dramatic than that?

Most brands I spoke with had a softer first half of 2025. Spending faced more scrutiny, growth felt harder to manufacture, and efficiency started to matter again. 

As the year went on, a surprising number of those brands finished stronger than expected. In nearly every case, it came down to the basics holding up when things felt tighter.

Which brings us back to retention.

This week, I want to discuss 5 things that might seem unserious but have transformed many brands I spoke to this year. 

And none of them are very complex.

Retention should be boring. 

Between the four emails a day from Wayfair, the third SMS this week about a sale I had already seen, and a push notification that appeared six hours after I had already bought the item, it’s hard not to notice how poorly coordinated retention has become.

None of this feels especially thoughtful. It mostly feels like systems talking past each other.
