I told this group of Year 11 students something simple:

Don’t count the days until your exams…
Make the days count.

The students who start revision early don’t just get better grades, they manage pressure better, sleep better, and walk into the exam hall with confidence.

Cramming creates panic.

On results day… there is no hiding.

That’s the message I shared with these Year 11 students.

Because when colleges and sixth forms review applications, they don’t see the excuses.

They don’t see the missed revision sessions or the lack of motivation.

They only see the final grades.

My goal when I speak in schools is simple:
Help students understand that their daily choices determine their future opportunities.

When students grasp that early enough, everything changes.

Today I had a real conversation with a group of Year 11 students.

I told them something they don’t always hear clearly enough:

If you don’t do well in school, your options will be limited.

Not because you’re not capable.
Not because your future is decided.
But because certain doors require certain results and that’s just the reality.

Applying to a sixth form or college doesn’t mean you’re automatically going there.
You have to earn your place.

Grades aren’t everything in life…
But right now, they are the key that unlocks your next step.

I reminded them:

You don’t have to be the smartest in the room.

You just have to be disciplined enough to give yourself a chance.

The work you put in now = the choices you get later.

Year 10 is where GCSE success is built, not year 11.

In this session, I challenged students with a simple truth:

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Success isn’t a mistake.
It happens on purpose.

The students who create and follow a timetable outside of school now will thank themselves next year.

Discipline beats motivation.
Structure builds confidence.
Preparation reduces pressure.

Schools that embed these habits early don’t just see better grades, they see calmer, more resilient students.

•	Coordinating with the payments team and third party acquirers in completing daily cash and credit card reconciliations.
•	Implemented automated credit card reconciliation spreadsheets which are now used daily.
•	Communicating with banks directly and recovering outstanding cash quickly and efficiently.
•	Responsible for the preparation and filing of Air Passenger Duty tax returns to governmental authorities worth over £40 million each month.
•	Maintaining a high level of efficiency during month-end and providing balance sheet reconciliations to a high standard and in accordance with UK GAAP.

•	Processing over 250 invoices per week, worth up to tens of millions in currency. This required great attention to detail and an emphasis on fraud prevention.

- Becoming the coach for the football team, my duties included selecting the people that would best lead the team to success, delegating duties to different members of the team to build up chemistry.

The role also meant that I was part of a committee, therefore my other duties include:

- Attending and debating society meetings, as well as helping out in the organising of events. 

- Advertising the society through social media and speaking publicly during lectures.

During my summer work placement at Barts Health Trust I was based over 3 of their sites, John Harrison House (Royal London Hospital), Newham university hospital and the Barts Health financial offices at Prescott Street. Working at 3 different sites allowed me to work with 3 different financial teams, which helped me to gain a broader insight into the public sector finance world.

At the John Harrison site I shadowed the senior accountant, attending meetings and making notes of what was discussed. I also had access to the monthly budgets and was asked to perform forensic accounting exercises in analysing the budgets and making judgments on where overspends can be reduced and where under spends can be fully utilised.

At the other sites my main roles included:

- Creating pivot tables 

- Using oracle to find unknown data 

- Inputting journal entries into excel

- Correcting any journal errors (eg. an incorrect charge of a different account)

- Shadowing the senior financial accountant, getting to grips of the day to day requirements as well as attending board meetings.

- Encouraged them to come in store using persuasive techniques

I am an ACCA Qualified Chartered Accountant working within Professional Football and a keynote speaker dedicated to inspiring people to overcome their limiting beliefs through the power of a growth mindset.

Throughout my journey, I’ve faced numerous challenges - from the heartbreak of failed football trials to struggling in the early stages of my career. But by embracing a growth mindset, I turned setbacks into stepping stones, which has led me into the football industry - the industry of my dreams. This journey has fueled my passion for helping others unlock their potential and redefine their limits, just like I have. 

Over the past 9 years, I’ve had the privilege of delivering multiple presentations to a wide range of audiences:

	•	Delivered presentations to board members at the Premier League.
	•	Presented key budget updates to Directors at various FTSE 100 companies.
	•	Delivered numerous “Overcoming Limiting Beliefs in the Workplace” workshops for top-tier organisations.
	•	Led mentorship programs in schools across London, helping students achieve substantial grade improvements.

In addition to my speaking engagements, I’ve also led specialised workshops titled “Football’s Chartered Accountant Explains” to enhance the financial literacy of young footballers at academies and schools.

Through my presentations in the workplace, I’ve helped secure multi-million-pound investments from the Premier League, saved companies millions through strategic budget analysis, and empowered my colleagues to step outside their comfort zones.

Outside of the workplace, my talks have inspired people to step outside their comfort zones to achieve greatness.
