When John came to me, his external facade of confidence was crumbling. He was over the edge, and anxiety didn't let him sleep at night. He feared being fired, and that tension didn't let him perform his job well. It was a downward spiral.

"I used to be good at my job. Not good. The best.”

“When HR offered me a promotion, I accepted immediately. How couldn't I? New office, team, and more money, which very soon meant a nice car, a bigger house, better school for the kids, happier wife... Everything felt good. Life was good.

But I didn't know the job would be so difficult. I can't do what I was good at anymore, because I have to manage people. Part of my team thinks I’m too young, others want my job and, well, I wouldn't call it sabotaging, but let's say they don’t make my life any easier.
