2025 changed how I use LinkedIn.

I stopped trying to play it “right”.

I posted less.
I posted clearer.
I posted when the idea was finished.

I didn’t chase virality.
I didn’t post just to stay consistent.
I didn’t force momentum when it wasn’t there.

Instead, I focused on what actually compounds:

• clear thinking
• repeatable ideas
• recognisable perspective

Some posts did really well.
Some didn’t move at all.

That wasn’t a problem.

Because authority doesn’t come from being everywhere. It comes from being remembered.

From saying the same thing enough times.
From letting people see how you think.

I also took breaks this year.

Looking back, here are 3 things I wish someone had told me when I started building my personal brand:

1. Originality is overrated. Proof of concept isn’t.

I used to think every post had to be brand new.
Fresh idea. Fresh angle. Built from scratch.

That mindset slowed everything down.

What actually worked was this:

Scroll your feed until something makes you stop.
Educational. Inspiring. Clear.

Then ask:
Can I apply this to my audience?
Can I swap the context for my expertise?
Can I keep the format and change the message?

You’re not copying.
You’re translating what already works.

2. Obsess over inputs, not outcomes.

Followers and views are lagging indicators.

The real lever is simple:
How often are you showing up?

Content grows exponentially.
Nothing happens… until everything does.

If you chase numbers, you quit early.
If you chase reps, results compound.

3. Your hook decides everything.

The first three seconds decide distribution.

Not your ideas.
Not your intentions.
Not your credentials.

Learning how to write better hooks is what changed my reach and momentum more than anything else.

LinkedIn rewards people who are easy to understand.
Not people who try to sound impressive.

Say less.
Say it clearly.
Say it consistently.

That’s how authority actually gets built here.

Stop making it “about you”.
Founders do this all the time.

They post:
“I built X.”
“I learned Y.”
“Here’s my journey.”

But they forget the reader.

Reframe it:
“What most founders miss about X.”
“The mistake leaders make before Y.”

When your audience thinks “This is about me” vs. “Cool story”… you win.

Diagnosis #2: You don’t have a signature series.

Build a signature series.
Because random posting creates random results.

A series creates: A reason to return.

Examples:
“Boardroom Notes”
“Founder Mistakes I’ve Seen”
“The 2-Minute Leadership Fix”

When your audience thinks “I know what you stand for” vs. “Who was this again?”… you win.

Diagnosis #3: You’re pressurising yourself to post constantly.

Stop chasing daily posting.
Start building a sustainable model.

Once a week is consistency.
Twice a week is great.

Daily posting with no system is burnout.

When your audience thinks “This person shows up with clarity” vs. “Another rushed take”… you win.

TL;DR:

→  Make the reader the main character
→  Build recall with a repeatable series
→  Post in a way you can sustain
