I disappeared from social media for two weeks.

Where did I go?
 
Back home.

To the small town near Jawai in Rajasthan, the place I grew up.
This time, it was for a wedding.

A friend I’d studied with my entire school life was getting married.
I don’t even remember when we first met, maybe Class 1, maybe earlier.
We just… always knew each other.

When I reached, it wasn’t just a wedding.
It was like life had pressed pause and rewind at the same time.


And of course, those evenings after tuition,
when we’d grab snacks and cold drinks from the same stall,
three of us squeezed onto one bike, roaming aimlessly through the streets,
laughing about things that made no sense, but made life feel full.

Now, one of us lives in the US.
Another’s in Mexico.
One’s in Bangalore.
And one’s in Pune.

But somehow, when we meet, it still feels like nothing has changed.
It’s a simple town.

But it grounds me in ways the city never can.
No validation. No noise. Just roots.
Every year, I make this trip.

And every time, it gives me something new,
a reminder of where I came from,
a sense of peace I can’t buy, and the warmth of being known not for what I’ve achieved, but for who I’ve always been.

It’s nostalgic, yes. But also strangely energising.
It recharges me in a way that nothing else does.

By the time I return, I’m full of memories, of meaning, of quiet strength.

2026 is going to separate people who are just making content from people who are actually building something. 

Your personal brand either opens doors or it's just you talking to yourself.

Audience behavior is shifting hard.

People don't want to be educated anymore. 

They're drowning in information.

What they want is someone to make sense of it all.

To have a strong opinion about what matters and what doesn't.

Future is going to reward curation over creation. 

The founders who can say "ignore all this noise, here's what actually matters" are going to win.

Stop trying to teach. 

Start having a point of view.

Nobody's paying attention anymore.

Everyone's skimming. 
Half reading while they're doing five other things.

So if your first sentence doesn't make someone actually stop, you're done. 

They're gone.

Spent 3 hours taking mental notes at the Zakir Show, desperately missing my notetaker.

Because somewhere between the satire and the shayari, I was realised I was watching a personal branding masterclass. 

Here are 5 mind boggling hacks, Zakir does without calling it branding every founder can steal: 


1. Micro-Niche Positioning > Being “for everyone”

Zakir isn’t “a comedian.” He’s a storyteller of the Indian middle-class emotional universe.

Pick a narrow emotional niche inside your category. That’s how you cut through the 1000 other “thought leaders.

2. Emotional peaks are veiled engagement loops

He seamlessly moved from nostalgia → humour → softness. He made people feel something every 30 seconds, all the way to two hours. 

That’s why retention stays high.
That’s why his brand sticks.

3. Full-Circle Story Arcs  that showcases simplicity 

He opened with childhood nostalgia, 
the scooter, the door lock, the father-son bonding and looped it into ambition, work, and adulthood.

Everything was connected and intentional. Most memorable brands build narrative arcs and not just tips. 

4. His wins feel personal

His ambition hits because it feels earned, it’s inspiring because it’s rooted in hunger and not ego. 

Flexing outcomes makes your brand more repelling, no one likes a show-off. 

5. Endings That Make You Remember the Beginning

He ended with shayari…but what he really ended with was a timestamp.
A feeling. A final echo that takes the audience back to the first moment.

Every piece of post, needs to bring people back to the mission: 

Here’s what we believe, and here’s what we’re building.

This is why Zakir sells out shows. This is why his Madison Square Garden moment went nation-deep.

You don’t need virality, you need stories and trust that scale faster than ads.

If you think you need to comment more to grow, you’re a creator not a founder. 

I see this every day. Founders spending 30 minutes dropping generic positivity bombs like “Great insights!”

Then wonder why their profile views haven’t moved in three months.

A generic comment gets you a courtesy like. Maybe.

Because buyers definitely feel it, especially when they see who’s reaching out to them.

When senior leaders check their inbox, they’re scanning for signals:

- who understands their world? 
- who respects their time? 
- who’s speaking from experience vs. a script? 

They are looking for messages that meet them at their level? 

This is why so much outbound collapses immediately, and it’s not about the offer but the altitude of the person receiving it.

A COO isn’t pausing their day to respond to outreach from someone who can’t relate to the decisions they make.

Leonardo da Vinci spent weeks perfecting a single shadow on the Mona Lisa, and this week I finally understood why.

A few nights ago, I opened my vision board and realised something that stung more than I expected:

I felt this strange heaviness settle in my chest that comes from the realisation that you’ve been moving in every direction except the one that actually matters.

I had only checked off three things this entire year. 

Don’t get me wrong, effort wasn’t the problem, I’ve worked 12+ hours on most days. I’ve built new skills like high ticket closing, appointment setting via calls, clay ops etc. 

But I stretched myself mentally, emotionally and professionally in the process. 

If you measured “effort,” it was one of my biggest years. If you measured “progress,” it was one of my most confusing.

I spent the year painting the whole canvas at once and is where the Da Vinci story made sense.

He wasn’t slow or dramatic, he was detail oriented and precise, and that’s exactly what I missed. 

- I didn’t identify the few actions that actually move the needle.
- I didn’t commit deeply to the 20% that drives 80% of outcomes.
- I didn’t give myself the chance to compound.

So here’s my correction for December, focus on just deliberate focus on the handful of things that truly matter.

Master the small, and the big takes care of itself.

Most of our experiments start with the same rule, whatever we do for clients first passes the Sparkx test.

Because we’re our own guinea pigs, a lean team working with lean teams.

But over the last month, we noticed a pattern across accounts. Too many pretty posts an too little proof.

So we flipped the workflow.

We’ve introduced what we’re calling The Sparkx Test 2.0, five operating rules to keep our systems (and clients’) honest.

1️⃣ The irrelevant photo boycott.

No photos unless they actually add context. If it doesn’t move the story forward, it’s out.

2️⃣ Real-time experiments.

We’ll test one new thing every week — distribution, messaging, or format — and show proof in the media.

3️⃣ Raw video drops (1x/week).

Simple setups, unpolished edits, behind-the-scenes of how we work.

4️⃣ Culture in motion.

As we expand our team, we’ll share what it looks like building Sparkx from the inside, the good, the messy, and the learnings.

5️⃣ Progress over polish.

Every week, we share an experiment that moved the needle, even if it didn’t look perfect.

The goal isn’t to reinvent our content.

It’s to remind ourselves (and the founders we work with) that growth isn’t about appearing big, it’s about iterating fast, staying real, and proving what works.

If it doesn’t pass the Sparkx test, it doesn’t go live.

PS: what's your Q4 looking like?

While I have been trying to work with early-stage startups from the outside, I was also building inside one and that contrast changed everything.

I have been on over 25 calls last month, and I pitched my best 30 day pilot offer, and it drained me much more energy than returned. 

Because working with early-stage founders from the outside felt nothing like building inside one.

Outside, everything looked fixable:
tighten the messaging, clean up the GTM, run the sprint, move fast.

Inside, nothing was that linear.
Loops weren’t ready. Priorities shifted every 12 hours. Decisions were made in motion, not in meetings.

I didn’t realise the problem, until I started working in one, where I was seeing loops that made sprint even possible. Nothing was theory, every decision has weight, pressure and timing. 

The founders I tried to work with were still finding their footing. The startup I worked inside was showing me what early-stage actually looks like.

And while all of this was happening, I was also building my agency in the background. Trying to understand who we serve, how we deliver, and what actually creates momentum.

This post is a bts of understanding our own fit, and sometimes the only way to see it is when you’ve lived both sides at the same time.
