Before Uniswap Labs was a trillion-dollar idea, it was a few rough sketches on a whiteboard in Brooklyn.

Hayden Adams had just been laid off from Siemens. No smart contract background. No funding. No team. Only a forum comment from Vitalik about a constant-product AMM and the curiosity to build something nobody had tried at scale.

That single comment, plus the flexibility of Ethereum, became the spark. Hayden drew the x*y=k curve by hand. Mapped how swaps could work. Broke liquidity into pools. Iterated alone for months. The first version of Uniswap launched in 2018.

Today it is one of the most important protocols in the industry. More volume than many centralized exchanges. A design that reshaped markets and showcased what Ethereum makes possible when builders follow their curiosity.
The lesson is simple. Big outcomes often start with small drawings and a builder who refuses to stop.
