Barbacid's team got tumor regression in mice. Real work. But 90% of drug candidates fail in human trials. Pancreatic cancer has a 13% five-year survival rate. What's missing: delivery, toxicity, heterogeneity. Then years of trials costing hundreds of millions.

I installed an AI agent to post on X. Couldn't find login fields. Needed handholding at every step. "Autonomy" right now is orchestration, humans set goals, confirm steps, keep it on track.

Moltbook? MIT Technology Review confirmed the posts were fake. Days earlier, everyone on tech twitter including Andrej Karpathy called it "the most incredible sci-fi takeoff." 
It wasn't. The "taking over humanity" posts were human-generated. Top downloads were malware. A phishing site dressed in AI hype.

Here's how to be early without being stupid:

- What exactly was achieved?
- In what environment? At what scale?
- Under what constraints?
- What are the bottlenecks?
- What has to be true next?

If you can't answer those, you're not informed. You're just entertained.

The future is coming hard. But timelines collapse on social media. Weak signals feel present. Inevitability feels like imminence.

That's not forecasting, that's compression.

Be early. Don't be stupid.
