In 2024, I was recognised as an Audit Beacon at The 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀, one of my proudest moments. 

As a multilingual communicator, fluent in three languages, I engage effectively with diverse stakeholders up to board level, steering and influencing strategic agendas relating to Environmental, Social and Governance (𝗘𝗦𝗚), Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (𝗗𝗘&𝗜), Artificial Intelligence (𝗔𝗜) governance, and cybersecurity. 

I served as 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 of the Veblen Director Programme, enhancing the board dynamics and unlocking opportunities with global leaders. 

At 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲, a FTSE company, I developed audit innovation hubs spanning five continents comprising over 45 high-performing auditors, and advanced the company’s 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 with a new team of data scientists and rollout of digital tools and technologies. 

I was instrumental in supporting Glencore through a turbulent time caused by the commodities crisis, retaining $MM audit services for a carved-out agriculture business, and reducing working capital.    

Over the years, I have headed high-profile fraud investigations and mitigated risks, ensuring compliance during complex situations, and safeguarding positive outcomes. 

I created and maintained Glencore’s 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (ERM) framework, systems and standards, reporting upwards to the board.

♦ Successfully streamlined SOX Compliance in Year 1 by optimizing key business processes and entity levels, resulting in a 15% reduction. Internal Audit team was composed of three direct reports and third-party auditors from Deloitte & BDO.  Served as a member of the corporate compliance committee and cybersecurity task force.  The Company was acquired by Philips in February 2021. 

♦ Led a cross-functional team in conducting a business risk assessment, resulting in the creation of a comprehensive risk register and implementation of a structured review process.

♦ Revamped the SOX compliance program by implementing a leading SOX compliance management tool, automating process documentation and electronic work papers creation, resulting in a 15% decrease in time required for compliance activities.

♦ Transformed the internal audit function by recruiting two (2) talented individuals with specialized knowledge in technical accounting and IT (SOX & audit), resulting in increased efficiency and effectiveness.

♦ Spearheaded the PMO for the accounting team redesign at the spin-off of a top global chemical company, leading to the implementation of best practices, enhanced financial controls, and improved overall performance metrics.

Led a team of three direct reports and five (5) outsourced (Deloitte) SOX engagement teams (total of 20 consultants) for a holding company with a global portfolio of non-emergency transportation, health assessment, and workforce development services.

♦ Led the comprehensive restructuring of the SOX compliance program for the corporate holding company and four (4) US-based entities, overseeing the successful rollout at four (4) acquired companies in the US, UK, and Saudi Arabia.

♦ Directed the implementation of mitigation efforts to address two (2) control material weaknesses (MW) in collaboration with the external auditor (KPMG).  Such efforts reduced the severity of both issues below MW threshold.  

♦ Enhanced external auditor control testing reliance of SOX process-level controls by 20% and IT-related controls by 10% through the implementation of robust control enhancements and proactive collaboration with audit teams.

During first tenure with Company, oversaw multiple key initiatives to improve accounting and financial reporting.
