Oversees concept creation, development, launch of digital media products, and sunsetting of content for multiple product streams: CFPB’s coronavirus pandemic response webpages, the interagency Housing Insecurity housing portal strategic initiative, and the Buying a House digital product. Performs return on investment analysis of new and existing product concepts. Leads product ideation and concept creation with cross-functional teams.

Key accomplishments:
- Manages the Housing Insecurity digital product through the product lifecycle as it transitions from a rapid response digital campaign to an evergreen product
- Identifies opportunities for new digital media product possibilities around the Buying a House product, such as improvements to the “Explore Interest Rates'' tool or new possible tools for the homebuying user journey
- Received 2021 CFPB monetary team achievement award
- Received 2021 CFPB time off award
- Completed all mandatory training to achieve Federal Acquisition Certification for Contracting Officer’s Representative (FAC-COR) — Level I
- Started a new Product Management Community of Practice discipline group
- Actively participates in a working group tasked with improving and retooling the policies and processes by which we create, deliver, and measure products (in print, web, and video forms) across the website

Product Manager

120-day temporary full-time position as a detail. Leads product portfolio strategy across six different sections within the Consumer Education office. Coaches multiple CFPB’s Consumer Education (CE) section employees in creating problem statements and business cases for digital or print products before analyzing and measuring them in their product lifecycle management processes. Prepares reports and makes presentations to CE leadership team and other CFPB divisions about outcomes relating to CE office goals, objectives, and priorities.

Key accomplishments:
- Led Consumer Education (CE) sections on a internal Director’s Front Office priority project. Practiced change management to all levels of CE management about adjustments needed to our product strategy.

Senior Product Manager (temporary position/detail)

Took on four-month temporary detail to help with CFPB agency resourcing needs. Detail extended by four months due to high quality of work done during assignment, and then extended for another four months through June 2021.

Gathered, translated, and prioritized business requirements into specifications and requirements that effectively met end-user needs. Liaised with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) across Consumer Education, Office of Public Affairs, Markets, and Design and Development. Worked with technical developers in Design and Development to resolve production issues. Monitored performance through metrics such as usage or trends to determine user engagement on affected web pages and needed iterative improvements. Provided supervisors, managers, and senior executives with regular status updates and product improvement recommendations based on data and/or consumer feedback. Drafted recommendations for strategies that made use of a variety of technical products on consumerfinance.gov to carry out mission objectives. Drafted reports explaining success or failure of certain technical products to management based on analysis of product outcomes and results.

Key accomplishments:
- Defined product strategy needed to audit content of over 2,000 Consumer Education webpages.
- Worked on developing governance approach to prioritize improvement of Ask CFPB questions over two-year product roadmap timeframe.
- Manages the end-to-end product life-cycle, product road-map and product releases for the CFPB’s digital web coronavirus response (https://www.consumerfinance.gov/coronavirus/), particularly the interagency digital portal addressing housing insecurity (https://www.consumerfinance.gov/housing/). Defined the product vision. Oversaw concept creation, development, and launch of digital products. Performed return on investment analysis of new and existing product concepts.

- Specific assigned responsibilities: interaction design, user research, content strategy, product management coaching of stakeholders, consultations with intra-agency analytics group, and CMS web page implementation.

- Received CFPB monetary award in 2019 for high quality of work and coordination done for Ask CFPB digital product
- Received CFPB monetary award in 2020 for high quality of collaborative work and mentorship provided while working on a team largely composed of new contractors.

- Took on a four-month temporary assignment to help with department resourcing
- Set a strategic direction around the established internal-facing communication channels for the department’s six-member Front Office multidisciplinary Leadership Team that supervises teams of designers, user researchers, UX and software developers.
- Assisted with scoping and planning efforts for full-lifecycle web application development projects coming through enterprise-level intake process. Used process/strategy expertise, project coordination skills, the use of best practices, subject matter expertise, adherence to federal guidelines or regulations, and strong communication skills to help stakeholders assess their business requirements and to work across multiple lines of business, including the consumerfinance.gov website and various print publications.
- Received CFPB time off award in 2019 for the high quality of work done during this assignment.

Creative Services Program Manager (on detail)

Served as UX designer, Certified Scrum Master, and occasional front-end web developer as a part of a team of designers, user experience experts, front-end web developers, and back-end web developers to develop and design solutions that support the CFPB’s strategic goals.

Key accomplishments:
- Worked to develop, interpret, and apply complex guidelines and regulations around accessibility ﴾Section 508 and WCAG AA﴿ into a web accessibility auditing policy that would be applicable to all work done on consumerfinance.gov. Served as informal lead within project work in charge of product definition and issue prioritization. Defined the product vision. Identified mission goals and objectives and corresponding technical needs. Acted as a resource for Design and Development colleagues with less Section 508 accessibility experience. Gathered comments, opinions, and views from IT and other stakeholders on opportunities or need for technical products around web accessibility. Worked with technical developers and IT staff members to ensure mutual understanding of requirements and development of products in accordance with those requirements. Built consensus with stakeholders within Design and Development that had differing opinions. Provided supervisors, managers, and senior executives with regular accessibility audit status updates and product improvement recommendations based on data and/or consumer feedback. Drafted recommendations for accessibility audit strategies that made use of a variety of technical IT products to carry out mission objectives.

User Experience Designer

Served as UX designer, Certified Scrum Master, and occasional front-end web developer as a part of a team of designers, user experience experts, front-end web developers, and back-end web developers to develop and design solutions that support the CFPB’s strategic goals.

Defined page navigation, interactions, interfaces, and page layouts that were focused on user needs. Gathered, interpreted, and translated technical requirements into appropriate interface designs. Produced original sketches, wireframes, user flows, and prototypes for the CFPB website that were consistent with the brand and mission. Collaborated with other designers to create page layouts, make decisions around hierarchy, and to design interactions. Worked with developers to ensure complex user interaction issues were implemented to meet user needs. Designed, produced, and tested interfaces and interactions that would work on different types of screens on different devices (desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile). Ensured that work produced was Section 508 compliant and met website accessibility requirements while advocating on behalf of users until accessibility or design bugs are fixed.

Key accomplishments:
- Defined, designed, and executed a usability testing plan for a tool to explore how claiming age and other factors can affect lifetime income received from Social Security retirement benefits that included Spanish language usability testing to ensure that target audience feedback was accurately captured; changes were incorporated into new product designs before official product launch.
- After the redesign of the web pages for the agency's guidebook for examinations of financial institutions, e-mails from internal examiners and external financial institutions about unmet user needs reduced from five to ten per week to zero. This reduction to zero has held steady since May 2017.

Technology & Innovation Fellow, User Experience Design

Gogo

Designs compelling mobile, tablet, and laptop-based experiences seen by over 1 million airline passengers a month for leading in-flight internet and entertainment provider. Balances user needs with business requirements and technological advances/constraints.

User Research and Usability Testing:
• Created a guerrilla usability testing framework that enabled testing to occur in a more Agile and Lean manner. As a result, average turnaround time for recruiting 6 testers was reduced from 3 weeks to 1-2 days; monthly cost of recruiting was reduced from $135/tester to $25 flat monthly fee.
• Used Lean UX techniques to create an enterprise-level design for letting passengers know where they are and how much time they have left in-flight. 

Information Architecture and Interaction Design: 
• Architected and designed the internationalization of Wi-Fi connectivity product. Designed UX recommendations dealing with locale, language, currency, and taxation requirements.
• Created information architecture for company's digital design standards website. Promoted use of website as a pattern library and style guide throughout the UX, visual design, UI development, and QA teams.
• Created structure, user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for several company promotions and partnerships; partner companies included Allstate, Amazon, and PayPal.

Other:
• Mentors junior and mid-level user experience team members in usability testing, information architecture, and interpersonal communication with other teams.
• Helped to implement dual-track agile process that included product discovery/design alongside product delivery.

Senior Experience Architect

• Architected the redesign of the in-flight purchase path for the Wi-Fi connectivity product from mid-2012 through early 2013. Created user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes. Reduced friction in the payment process by cutting the number of required fields by over 50% and the number of total pages by 50%, optimizing the transaction flow, and addressing inconsistencies in copy & error messages. User flow and UI design decisions eliminated second-most common customer service issue, reduced credit card error rate by 55% and reduced overall error rate by 18%.
