Leading the Business Strategy to decarbonize heavy-duty transportation via clean hydrogen. This includes managing all aspects of developing a new business for a brand new industry; from leading the evaluations, negotiations and deal structuring of hydrogen supply agreements, developing a reliable hydrogen distribution & dispensing network, representing Nikola with local and federal government officials, reviewing financial & risk models, leading multi-million dollar government grant and loan applications all the way to truck sales.

Head of Canadian Energy Supply, Infrastructure & Sales at Nikola Motor Company

Leading Analytics and Deal Structuring/Valuation within the Energy and Commercial organization of Nikola. This entailed developing an analytical, deal structuring and hydrogen pricing framework from ground up. Included was in-depth modeling and understanding of CAPEX+OPEX & carbon intensity for all different hydrogen production pathways from production to dispensing, becoming an expert in low carbon incentives valuation as well as developing logistics models.

The focus of this 2-year term contract was to manage, forecast & optimize Working Capital performance whilst maintaining an independent finance view across all European and South African (ESA) downstream BP entities (Refineries, Supply, Logistics & Marketing businesses).

Accountable for leading the Structuring and Commercial Development teams in Calgary & Chicago, within Integrated Supply and Trading’s(IST) North American Gas and Power (NAGP) and Global Oil Americas (GOA) businesses. 
Managed a team of Structuring Analysts and Commercial Development Directors for a timely, independent and compliant economic valuation and documentation for large and complex commercial transactions. 
Member of the Global Trading Analytics Team, working together with Market Fundamental and Quantitative Analytics Teams on long term pricing and fundamentals analysis as input for long term deal valuations.
Member of the CEO level governance board meetings, where my teams final deal & assurance document is presented.  
Examples of transactions are: Divestitures, Joint Ventures, Renewables(Wind and Biogas), Options, Storage, Transport, Swaps, Refinery tolling, Asset Management Agreements, Financing Structures, Power Tolling, LNG deals and more.

Manager Structuring & Commercial Development

Provided independent structuring and analytical support to the Gas, Power, NGL and Oil platforms in a high-pressure Trading Environment. This entailed developing and improving economic valuation and hedging models of energy assets, derivatives and exotic structures as well as understanding and quantifying optionality, risks and relevant value drivers. 
Author of a widely shared market liquidity insights paper to help management understand risks in markets with low liquidity.
Led the testing and validation of BP's in-house Natural Gas Storage Valuation Model developed by the Quantitative Analytics Team as one of BP's top Storage Valuation Experts.
Self-initiated a NSERC sponsored collaboration project developing a Natural Gas Storage Model together with a team of PhD candidates (mathematicians) from the University of Calgary.
Recipient of multiple recognitions and spot awards for One Team and Excellence.

Lead for BP’s Natural Gas Portfolio, managing a team to deliver timely and accurate reporting as well as informing and challenging NAGP’s trading positions and associated risks. 
Responsible for reviewing and providing risk input and recommendations for large commercial transactions in the Gas and NGL space as well as possible risk mitigation strategies.
Provided input for changing the organisation's risk and limit framework.
Led the North American Risk Engine upgrade as the Market Risk Subject Matter Expert.

Market Risk Specialist for BP’s Natural Gas portfolio, responsible for reporting, informing and challenging North American Gas and Power & NGL Trading Teams. The portfolio included physical and financial linear as well as non-linear/real option instruments. 
Incremental for the improved measurement of risks for BP’s Trading Portfolio through discovering and socializing the shortcomings and leading the subsequent solution upgrades on the Entegrate Analytics Risk System.
Developed a liquidity risk framework as well as multiple other risk measures that are now being utilized as standard risk measures within BP's risk framework.

The quintessence of this project was to develop an Excel based trading book for BP's gas trading desk that would capture physical, financial, transport and storage deals, their exposure and mark to market impact, and tie them to the system of record. This project was successfully completed and the model is now being used as the common trader book across the trading teams.
