You don't need to be the best at everything.

You don't even need to be the best at anything.

But you do need to know how to make the best people sound incredible together.

Most founders I work with struggle with this.

They think they need to:

→ Be the smartest person in every room

It seems like the best leadership is:

→ Hiring people better than you 
→ Creating a vision they believe in

trying way too hard to sound smart.

We write “synergistic solutions to optimize workflows.”

We say “cutting-edge platform to streamline growth.”

And then we wonder why nobody replies.

The truth?

Your prospect isn’t ignoring you.

They’re ignoring the jargon.

Because when everyone sounds like a marketing brochure,
 no one sounds human.

Here’s what actually gets replies 👇

→ Keep it at a 5th-grade level.

 “Hey Sarah, noticed you just hired 3 new SDRs - curious how you’re scaling outbound without burning them out?”

Simple. Conversational. Feels like a friend, not a pitch.

→ Be personal, not ‘personalized.’

Don’t say: “I saw you went to Stanford.”
Say: “Saw you’ve scaled 3 GTM teams before - that experience must’ve taught you a thing or two about cold outreach chaos 😅.”

That’s personal. It builds connection, not cringe.

→ Be helpful before you sell.

 Offer one insight that makes their day easier.

Something like:
“When we replaced ‘I’d love to show you a demo’ with ‘I recorded a 2-min teardown for you,’ reply rates jumped from 1% to 7%.”

No pitch. No push. Just value.

Because cold email isn’t about automation, tone, or timing.

It’s about empathy .... disguised as efficiency.

And when you sound human again,
your replies prove it.

The best ones dig deeper .... they make the reader feel seen.

Something like:
“I noticed you just hired 3 new SDRs - guessing onboarding and ramp time must be chaos right now.”

That’s not personalization.

That’s relevance.

That’s when your message goes from
 “another cold email” → to “this person gets me.”
