- Daily commute of 5 - 6 hours sadly meant the full-time role was no longer a viable option: continued freelancing for Action for Children, from home, across June/July 2018.

Responsible for copy and content across all platforms, client liaison, and acting as brand guardian for the new brand, which launched January 2017. 
Work has included:

*Creation of new legacy collateral – press ads and DM – aimed at different audiences, both warm and cold.

*Content written, from scratch, for the brand new Parent Portal – a sub-brand of Action for Children’s main offering.

*Copy and content for corporate partnership material (Royal Mail, House of Fraser, First Group), including naming briefs, straplines, posters, web content.	

*Social content relevant to key dates in the content calendar, such as Safer Internet Day and Blue Monday.

*Marketing collateral for large fundraising events, such as the Spring Ladies Lunch
‘Women Taking Action’ material – aiming to raise c.£150k.

*Creation of a brand new narrative, messaging, and strapline – across all marketing collateral – for Action for Children’s flagship fundraising event: Byte Night.

Norwood is a charity which supports children with special educational needs and adults with learning disabilities.

I was responsible for the creation of both long and short copy, across multiple platforms (DM, press, content, email, brochures, speeches, internal comms) - most notably:

*Bi-annual multimedia appeals, including sourcing relevant case study, working with design team, and the creation of; DM copy, donor prompts, covering letters, follow-up letters, web content, emails, press ads.

*Sourcing case studies (interviewing, transcribing, adapting, archiving), to keep content fresh across DM appeals, speeches, appeal films, and brochures. 

*Weekly press releases for community, local, and/or national press; dependent on scope and relevance of story.

*Press coverage – press releases, vox pops, emails – for large fundraising events across the property, finance, and construction sectors.

*Email campaigns for all fundraising events and sporting challenges.

*Speeches for major fundraising events, including welcomes, appeals, thank yous, and guest speaker intros for; Andrew Marr, Justin King CBE, Andrew Fisher, Omid Djalili, Sir Michael Moritz, Sir Martin Sorrell, Dame Stella Rimington.

I'm a copywriter and content writer with 15 years' experience across both charity and commercial sectors - agency-side and client-side.
I can also throw a healthy dollop of conceptual thinking into the mix, as you'll read below.

I come from an agency background (above-the-line advertising, then experiential marketing), but have worked across the third sector, and, in more recent years, the private sector; working on Facebook campaigns with Started From Scratch agency, at Pret A Manger, and at Indeed Flex.

As you can probably tell, I write warm, conversational, human copy: compelling content, moving DM, powerful press ads, lively CRM campaigns, snappy social posts... you get the gist.
Having said that, I can easily adapt to any tone of voice.

Getting down to brass tacks, charities/NFPs I’ve worked for include 38 Degrees, Norwood, CALM, Rotary International, Action for Children, ForCrohns,* Anthony Nolan, and Stroke Association.
Chunky commercial accounts I’ve worked on include Nintendo, VW, Rowntree’s, Comedy Central, and Nescafe.

In short, I’m fascinated by brands in general: particularly those with a strong tone of voice, and those willing to be bold across individual campaigns or with their overall branding.

It’s also worth mentioning that I’ve produced concepts, copy, and content (both campaigns and one-offs) across just about every platform – covering TV, DRTV, radio, press ads, outdoor, DM, e-DM, brochures, video scripts, email campaigns, social campaigns, policy docs, brand narratives, and tone of voice guidelines.
