When Nathan asked me that question on our recent webinar on whether you should go the VC route or bootstrap, it highlighted a very important theme about the ability to take risks in this start up journey.

Yes, financial stability changes how you think about risks, but not in the way people often assume.

It doesn’t mean you suddenly become fearless. It means you can afford to be deliberate.

At 25, your risk appetite might be healthy - coming from youth, energy, and fewer obligations. At 40, it might come from experience, financial security, and knowing which bets are worth making.

But at the end of the day, the risk doesn’t disappear. It just looks different.

You still worry, about people, outcomes, trade-offs. You still wake up thinking about all the things that might break. You still have to earn the right to build something meaningful.

That part doesn’t change. And I don't think it ever will.

I landed one of the top podcasts, and it happened because I helped luck.
Last month I attended SaaSiest for the first time.
Earlier that day, I spotted Nathan Latka at the conference.

He was giving a talk at the conference and was naturally surrounded by people the entire time.

I didn’t target him.
I didn’t chase him.
I just stayed present.

Later that evening, I ended up sitting with the event organizers… and he happened to be right there with us.

The connection happened naturally. We had a quick, easy chat.
I invited him to visit Israel.
Told him about our crazy-strong startup scene. Even pointed him to a relevant connection. I created value for him before asking for anything.

Toward the end of the event there was a poker tournament.
In that relaxed environment, I finally said:
“I’d love to join your podcast.”
He said: “Sure, let’s connect.”

My friend and mentor Gil Ben-Artzy of UpWest has a line I always repeat:
 “You need to stay in the way of luck.”

There’s a reason Silicon Valley founders seem so much “luckier.”
They’re constantly in the right rooms, bumping into the right people, at the right time.

You can recreate that wherever you live, you just need to stay in the way of luck.

Our project was a mobile app called Sportie, special social network for athletes and sportsmen. With Sportie we wanted to give equal opportunity to all athletes to show their talent to the world and to professional scouts, so you could look at Sportie also as a Linkedin for sports. 

Idea was to integrate all functionalities which had a goal for easy, detailed and fast promotion through videos which can be created, edited and uploaded directly from the app together with progresses tracking through wearables. On the other hand it was supposed to giving fast, detailed and timely information about new not yet discovered sports talents globally to sport managers and scouts. Goal was to combine a lot of functionality's which no other app on the market had, together with great upgrade potential in the future.
 
Project was put on hold until further notice.

Our company Pullus Consulting OÜ received in 2020. Strongest in Estonia 2020 certificate with AA credit rating which put us in top 7,1% of all Estonian companies.
