The best mayoral campaign run in modern history. The social media team will be studied - and copied - for years, possibly decades. A generational candidate in terms of likeability and charisma.

They had their Islamophobic terrorist jokes. Billionaires spent money to try and get Cuomo in office. They tried to make (this isn’t a joke) him calling someone his “auntie” a scandal. 

That’s how little they had on him. 

I don’t live in NYC anymore, but I lived there for over a decade. 

I went up in 2004, and it was close enough to 9/11 for me to deal with “terrorist” and “Bin Laden” comments. I’m not Muslim, or from the Middle East, but ignorance doesn’t exactly factor in nuance. 

I dealt with sh*t that feels so insane looking back, that I imagine people on this platform would think I’m lying. Some real hateful stuff, to be honest. 

None of it deterred me from enjoying my time in one of the most incredible cities in the world. Lifelong friendships made, I loved, I lost, I hustled, and I truly came into my own. 

20 years later, to see a Muslim mayor elected into office makes me a bit emotional. The fact that Dick Cheney died on the same day is just God doing a “chef’s kiss” on top of it (Save your “Be civil, Neil” comments - the man was a f*cking war criminal.) 

34 years old. He started out polling at less than 1%.

Hydrogel masks. After-sun repair. Vitamin serums for preschoolers.
All marketed as “confidence,” “creativity,” and “self-care.”

But children don’t need skincare routines.
They need messy play, and adults who protect them from beauty marketing that tells them their skin needs “fixing” - and those that do have problems with their skin barrier need seen by a doctor.

The beauty industry has already captured teens and tweens.
Now it’s creeping into childhood, normalising beauty consumerism before kids even start school.

This isn’t skincare.
It’s social conditioning.
Let kids be kids.
