Trained as an engineer and in my work as a sales director, I became fascinated with the power of customer centric processes for operations, support and sales. Because nothing is easier to sell than a product or a service from a customer centric company.

It became my mission and my passion to help other leaders to make the transition to a customer centric and operationally efficient organisation.

That was twenty years ago. Twenty years of trying (and failing sometimes), learning, and finetuning.

This may sound a bit provocative, I know. But think about this: what remains of an experience once it is over?

Right: only what people can recall later.

So it is not so much the experience that drives future customer behaviour, but rather what people remember of that experience.

And those may be two entirely different things. When you are designing a customer experience, are you factoring in what you want people to remember of that experience? And have you designed your processes in such a way that you can guarantee that your customers will indeed remember what you want them to remember?

Because people “Forget about their customer experience” - and that is what I meant when I made this picture.

💡Have you thought about how you make an experience memorable?

Maybe we should stop talking about Customer Experience Management, but rather speak of Customer Memory Management 🤓

AI alone will not save your customer experience.

It runs on two things: your processes and your data.

If one of those is broken – or worse, both – AI will simply make things worse.

Instead of improving your CX, it will now automatically, at great speed and large scale, produce bad outcomes.

💡 So if you want to improve your customer experience using AI, make sure
your processes are customer-centred and your data is cleaned up.
