After completing my graduation, I joined my family business.

We had recently established a new factory and needed a manager to oversee all the operations.

So I was chosen for the role.

In my short term of 8 months, I helped the business:

-increase the production cycle by 2 times
-manage stock & inventory for smoother operation
-optimize data with Excel and Notion for easy collaboration
-design a production chain to help manage the workforce better

In my Graduation year,

Our university hosted one of the biggest events in our community

An event that lasted for 18 days, and was attended by over 7000 guests, daily!

Our hostels were transformed into guest accommodations,

and we, the students were made responsible for event management

Being the most senior class, we had to oversee everything from prep to execution.

I was made responsible for 500 high-profile guests.

that meant I was responsible for:

-receiving them
-making sure they’d settled in
-asking them if they needed anything else?
-see if they were comfortable in their rooms or not
-ensuring smooth flow management to and fro event halls
-making sure that their dietary needs were met if they had any
-being available for any queries or complaints they had during the event

The event was a hit.

18 days of events
28 sleepless nights
always being on call
AND 500 HAPPY FACES
Accomplishment enough!

You’re probably wondering if that’s a real job. It's not!

the university I studied at had a very unique rule:
Breakfast was managed, prepared, and served by the students themselves!

Sounds absurd right? it’s not!

This rule gave us the opportunity to learn:

-cooking
-cleaning
-budgeting
-food presentation
-time management

So at the beginning of every year, faculty members would select 2 students to run the breakfast committee

One would head the committee and manage finances and procurement, the other would assist in Menu planning

In my Graduation year, I was chosen to head the committee

That meant I was responsible for:

-managing over $1000 per week
-filling the tummies of 550 students every day
-making sure all food items were delivered on time
-constantly innovating and finding ways to diminish costs
-communicating and building relationships with vendors and suppliers

All of that, along with writing my Dissertation!

talk about pressure!

Anyways, not only did I manage to write my dissertation (which I aced, btw) (win)
But also everyone loved the breakfast that year! (win-win)
Plus, I managed to save the committee around $1500 without compromising quality! (in fact, we switched from low-quality products to high-quality) (win-win-win)

But here’s what I learned that’ll interest you:

-working under pressure (Diss.+550 students+$1000/week)
-delivering the best results with the lowest costs possible (Budgeting)
-effective communication to build relationships (low cots+high quality)
-beating the odds to ace every project (aced my diss.+550 happy faces+$1500 saved)
-the importance of time management and the pleasure of delivering on time (Diss+food)
