How to fix your linkedin with AI by Will McTighe

Stop doubting yourself. 
Growth happens when you do things you're not 'qualified' for.

The excuses all sound reasonable:
• "I don't have enough time right now." 
• "I'll wait until I have more experience." 
• "What if I look stupid? It could ruin my reputation"

We wait to feel confident before we take action.

But this misses the point:
You don't have confidence at the start! 
It's the result of doing so much work it would be unreasonable to not believe in yourself.

So next time doubt shows up, instead of letting it take control, do the opposite of what it wants.

Here are 3 things I do when self-doubt takes over:

1/ Start before you're ready

When I first started posting online, I had no idea what I was doing. I was laughed at and now nearly 2 years later, those haters ask me for help.

Action builds confidence, not the other way around.

2/ Lower the stakes

I've posted >500 LinkedIn posts - I've had more flops than most but I just try to make the next better than the last.

Stop treating every next step like it's the performance of your life - treat it like practice instead.

3/ Surround yourself with doers

I've built a small circle of entrepreneurs I talk to regularly - Nader Alnajjar, Chris Donnelly, Peter Shallard. 

Confidence really is contagious, so make it a point to be around people who are actually doing the work.

Confidence doesn't show up first. 
It follows the work you put in.

Take the risk. 
Apply for the job. 
Start your side hustle - now is the time.

7 Bitter Pills to Swallow:
(10 years of painful career lessons in 60 seconds)

In 10 years, I've pivoted across 3 industries.
Only 14 months ago, I was coldcalling chemical distributors.

Each pivot forced me to confront hard truths.
They started with the person in the mirror -

The one making excuses.
The one avoiding conversations I needed to have with myself.

Here are 7 truths I had to confront along the way:

1/ Your identity is built on outdated stories.
↳ "I'm an angry guy" because you lost your temper as teenager.
↳ Childhood labels aren't our adult identity. Outgrow them.

2/ Nobody cares about your potential.
↳ The world only cares about what you actually do.
↳ “I could have” is worthless until we turn it into results.

3/ Rock bottom isn't the enemy. The comfortable middle is.
↳ Comfort is more dangerous than crisis - it kills our hunger and leaves us with regret.
↳ One day, you'll reminisce about your hard, tough moments.

4/ 'Someday' actually means 'never'.
↳ We all have a graveyard of dreams we'll "get to later”.
↳ Stop waiting for the perfect moment, it is not coming.

5/ Your excuses sound ridiculous to everyone but you.
↳ Behind every excuse is a fear we haven’t acknowledged.
↳ Every "I'm not ready" is really "I'm too scared".

6/ If no one knows you, you don't exist. Build your brand.
↳ Talent means nothing if you're invisible.
↳ Your voice is powerful - use it until they can't ignore you.

7/ Your habits got you here. Change them to change your life.
↳ Your habits are either building your future or repeating your past.
↳ Small choices compound into life sentences - or legacies. You decide.

Start confronting reality and turn it into your dreams.

• Define a problem, create urgency, offer a solution.
• Keep it real and actionable. No fluff.

2/ Pre-Post Engagement (15 mins)
• Engage thoughtfully with peers, big accounts, and dream clients.
• Ask questions. Build relationships before you need them.

3/ Reply Window (10 mins)
• Respond to every comment in the first hour.
• Don’t just say “thanks”- keep the dialog going. Ask a follow up.

4/ Strategic Outreach (20 mins)
• Connect with 10 ideal clients a day. Keep it personal, under 50 words.
• Follow up with profile viewers (Premium) within 2 hours.
• This part is so important and often forgotten.

Most people start with excitement, fresh ideas and endless motivation.

Then the excitement wears off... 
and they realize making good content is hard.

Once you start telling yourself, “I’ll just skip this week” - it’s over.

Inspiration is random.
Systems make it repeatable.

Here’s the system I recommend to everyone starting out:

Step 1: Ask AI for Your Audience’s Pain Points
• Go to Chatgpt(.)com or Saywhat(.)ai and ask it to identify your audience’s most painful frustrations.
• Use this prompt: “I am a [your job] selling [your service] to [your target audience]. List their top 30 specific pain points. Include frustrations, common mistakes, and emotional triggers.”

Step 2: Select the Pain Points You’ve Heard From Customers
• You’ll get a list of pain points, pick the ones that resonate - remember, you’re the expert!

Step 3: Turn each problem into a post
• Pick one pain point from your list.
• Then use this prompt to start writing:
“Write a post using the problem-agitate-solution framework.
Lead with a hook using my experience as authority.”

Step 4: Start with the problem 
• Use the PPAS (proof - problem - agitate - solution) structure. 
• Start with the misconception → agitate the problem → offer the solution

Step 5: Test hooks until one makes you feel something 
• Show your hook to a friend for feedback (I show my wife every hook)

Step 6: Pick a template from saywhat’s Inspiration database 
• Go to the Inspiration section → Find trending visual styles

Step 7: Drop it into saywhat’s infographics/carousel generator
• Connect it to your post to get a quote, infographic or carousel.

Step 8: Schedule and repeat
• Batch your content. Plan ahead.
• Listen → Create → Refine → Repeat.

That’s how you build momentum.

Everyone is starting to sound like ChatGPT.

The same robotic tone.
Five top tips posts.
The “You won’t believe this…” posts.

You can almost guess the next line before you read it.
No value.
No texture.
No humanity.
Just clean, perfectly polished, empty AI slop.

AI fatigue is real, people are bored of the sameness, they want to read something that stands out. They want to hear your voice, your mistakes, everything.

Here’s one way you can cut through the noise:

Conversation style posts.

They get way more attention than typical posts because they feel more human, like someone is eavesdropping into your conversation.

Here’s how to write one that actually feels real:

Step 1: Pick a real conversation
• Choose someone specific, ideally someone important (so people are interested in hearing the outcome).
• A founder, customer, mentor, then anchor it around a real insight.

Step 2: Jump straight into conflict
• Start with the line that captures the conflict.
• “Why” questions work well because they create tension.

Example:
$50M CEO: "Why should I spend money on your sales software? I'm already spending $500k on other tools."
Me: "Because you're probably wasting half of that."

Step 3: Keep it punchy
• Use questions your customers actually have.
• Write like you speak. Use short, simple sentences.

Step 4: Show the specific outcome, as well as the lesson
• End with an action you/they took
• Finish with a broader lesson

Example:
❌ "The lesson? Stay focused on what matters."
✅ "After this, they dropped 5 tools, kept 3. Close rate jumped from 12% to 31%."

Most writing feels generic because it is.
Make yours feel unique by writing like you're talking to a friend.

How to create beautiful infographics in under 5 minutes:

No design skills required.

Infographics are incredibly powerful - 
They've helped me gain hundreds of thousands of followers but dear lord they are painful to make.

And I've heard the same pains over and over again from other creators:
• Spending 3 hours wrestling with Canva templates that still look "off"
• Ending up with something that looks nothing like what you imagined
• Paying a designer $200+ and wait days for revisions
• Watching your brand colors get butchered

The worst part is that you repeat this painful process EVERY time you need an infographic.

But as of yesterday, here's the better way:

1. Open Saywhat(.)ai → head to infographics

2. Save your brand colors
• Go to "Themes" → Create a "New Palette" 

3. Add templates you like
• Select "Upload Templates"
• Add your old infographics or pick from other top-performing content

4. Add a simple prompt:
• Select "New Infographic." → Give it a simple prompt like:
"Create an infographic on [Topic] using [Color Theme] in [Template]."

OR 

Give it a more detailed infographic outline from ChatGPT

5. Let Your Inner Designer Out
• Once the first draft is ready, edit using the "Edit" button and adding a new prompt. Change titles. Swap icons. Adjust layout

That's it.

No fiddling with tools and moving boxes around. 
What used to take 2 hours can now take under 5 minutes.

Here’s how to do it in under 20 minutes:

Step 1: Go to zapier(.)com/app
• Explain that you want to build a workflow that creates meeting agenda from Slack messages and automatically drafts a follow up email by extracting data from Fireflies AI.

Step 2: Paste the workflow into Zapier
• Go to agents(.)zapier(.)com/bots and paste the workflow

Step 3: Set it to run it before and after each meeting
• Add a trigger → Select “Schedule by Zapier” → Pick hourly, daily, or weekly.

Step 4: Connect your tools
• Let it pull info from the tools you already use (e.g. Slack, Fireflies.ai).

Step 5: Choose the Slack channel For your agenda
• Link your Slack account and add the channel to get it started.

Step 6: Connect your meeting tool
• Add Fireflies(.)ai (or similar) to auto-draft follow-up emails after each meeting.

Step 7: Preview the workflow
• Make sure the steps run cleanly and generate agendas + summaries correctly.
