Mijn vrouw is gisteren voor 2 weken vertrokken naar India. 
Dus sta ik er alleen voor met 3 pagadders. 

En nu al valt het gemis op. 

Je steun en toeverlaat, je maatje, maar ook de persoon die mee het huishouden met je draagt. 

Op een manier is het ook makkelijker, je kan jouw "regime" installeren. 

Bij mij is dat een regime met 2 bolletjes ijs ipv 1 bolletje ijs. 
Maar ook een regime van: neem zelf je onderbroek en kousen uit de kast. 

Misschien eens teveel verwennen maar ook wel autonomie in de hand werken. 

Ik vroeg chatgpt al om raad en die zei me van de lat drastisch te laten zakken. 
Een wat vuiler huis, en wat meer frietjes. 

Maar in alle eerlijheid, zelfs met een vuiler huis en wat meer frietjes, zal het hart -en de draaiende motor- 2 weken van huis zijn. 

Het is haar van harte gegund. 

Al +11 jaar is ze mama. En echtgenote. En vriendin. En dochter. En zoveel meer. 

Vrouwen zijn het hart en de draaiende motor van onze samenleving.

Laten we hen wat meer bewieroken. 

Zeker nu.

We hebben als maatschappij wat meer hart nodig en minder hard.

Ik ben een beetje beschaamd om het te zeggen als man: mijn kinderen betekenen alles voor mij.

Beschaamd in die zin dat ik heel graag een zorgende rol op mij neem.  
Eten koken. Opruimen. Ze troosten. Met hen spelen. Ze naar hobby’s brengen.

Ze zijn mijn nummer één reden waarom ik leef.

En daardoor moet ik ook toegeven dat ik misschien een “slechte” ondernemer ben.  
Grote successen zullen hierdoor misschien uitblijven.

Want ik haal ze liever om half vier op van school dan dat ik doorwerk.

(Ooit droomde ik zelfs van een leven on the road waarin we de kinderen zouden homeschoolen. Dat bleek misschien een beetje naïef.)

Maar ik ken nog wel een aantal papa’s die met dezelfde vragen worstelen:  
Hoe kan ik de papa zijn die ik (n)ooit had?  
En wat is eigenlijk mijn eigen invulling van succes?

Misschien ligt succes niet altijd in groter bouwen, sneller gaan of meer verdienen.  
Misschien ligt het soms gewoon in om half vier aan de schoolpoort staan.

Als dat betekent dat ik nooit een “grote” ondernemer word…  dan kan ik daar mee leven.

Dit soort gesprekken voer ik trouwens steeds vaker met ondernemende zielen in mijn coaching:  
niet over groei alleen, maar over hoe je een leven bouwt dat klopt, ook thuis.

Soms $uck-t ondernemen. 
Ik ga gewoon eens brutaal eerlijk zijn en deze post vanuit het hart laten komen.

En dan denk ik: ik heb er genoeg van. 

Weken waarin je hard werkt en een paar nieuwe klanten opstart gevolgd door weken waar je niemand hoort… en pijnlijk je LinkedIn, insta en mails refresht. 

En je doet alles correct hè: 
- Je post systematisch 
- Je bent kwetsbaar en authentiek 
- Je spreekt vanuit je klants pijn 
- Je engaget met andere content 
- Je bent actief op verschillende kanalen met verschillende boodschappen 
- Je doet aan community management 
- Je update je website 
- Je maakt folders en zendt die rond 
- Je levert kwaliteit in je diensten 
- … 

En toch ben je precies een marktkramer die in het ijle zijn marktwaar probeert te verkopen. 

Ligt het aan de markt? Ligt het aan je product? Ligt het aan je boodschap? 

Wie zal het zeggen. 

In de tantra filosofie zeggen ze: als je er te hard moet voor werken is het je pad niet. 

Is dit mijn pad? 

Wie voelt er deze pijn nog?

I believe you don't burn out from work. 
You burn out from the way you think about work. 

A few years ago, I literally thought myself sick. 
The incessant thinking even led to depressive episodes. 

But then I had a realization: 
Thoughts shape emotions.
Emotions shape behavior. 

And over time, repeated thoughts rewire the brain; this is what is called neuroplasticity. 

Think hopeful thoughts, and your behaviour shifts in that direction.
Think negative thoughts, and your behaviour will eventually follow that too.

So, if you want change your behavior start by changing your thinking.

Ik ben een generalist.
En lange tijd dacht ik dat dat een probleem was.

Ik kan van veel dingen iets.
Strategie. Processen. Leiderschap. Identiteitswerk. Groepsdynamiek. Zelfs content maken.

Maar soms bekruipt me het gevoel: wat kan ik nu écht?

Ik heb vaak verlangd naar één duidelijke specialisatie. 
Iets waar ik mijn ei in kwijt kon. 
Voor jaren.

Want soms heb ik het gevoel dat ik overal wel wat van weet, maar nergens genoeg van.

Echter, wat ik de voorbije jaren ben gaan zien, is dat mijn parcours minder versnipperd is dan ik dacht.
Er loopt wél een rode draad door alles wat ik gedaan heb.

Of ik nu met teams werkte rond strategie of psychologische veiligheid, met leiders rond positionering, of in diepere 1:1 trajecten: het kwam altijd terug op hetzelfde.

Empathisch luisteren.
Doorvragen.
Mensen helpen dichter bij hun echte verhaal te laten komen.

Dat is wat ik het liefste doe.
En waar ik intussen ook het meeste in gegroeid ben.

En dan denk ik: 
Specialisatie is niet per se vernauwen.
Het is herkennen wat al die jaren consistent aanwezig was.

Herkenbaar? Voel jij je eerder generalist dan specialist?

You can understand everything intellectually.
And yet your body still reacts as if nothing changed.

I notice this in my own life sometimes.

I know my mother loves me.
And yet my body still tenses when I’m around her.

That’s something I’ve been noticing more and more in the process of healing.

Because intellectually, a lot of things are clear to me today.

I understand much more about her story.
What she carried.
Why certain things happened the way they did.

I know she did the best she could with what she had.

And in many ways, I’ve forgiven her.
I really have.

But something interesting still happens when we’re together.

My shoulders lift slightly.
My breath becomes a bit more shallow.
My body goes on alert in small, almost invisible ways.

As if my nervous system remembers something my mind has already understood.

And that’s something I see quite often in people too.

Psychotherapy can bring incredible insight.

It helps us understand our patterns, our past, our relationships.

But sometimes healing has another layer.

Because many imprints don’t only live in our thoughts.

They live in the body.
In muscle tension.
In breath.
In a nervous system that learned to stay on guard.

That’s why more and more people start exploring somatic work, breathwork and psychedelic-assisted retreats.

Not as a rejection of psychotherapy. But as the next step in the conversation.

I think one of the hardest questions around psychedelics is:

"Why should I do psychedelics?"

That's a fair question. 

There are many reasons, let me give you three:

1. Participants often describe 1 session as "a 100 hours of coaching/therapy in 1 go". 

2. In clinical studies they often outperform classical antidepressants up to a factor 1,5 - 2.

3. They can reduce deeply ingrained mental patterns -rumination, self-criticism, rigid thinking- and thus increase cognitive flexibility. 

And then I'm not even talking about how they can increase empathy, boost creativity, reduce anxiety, ...

That said:
Psychedelics are not a shortcut.
They’re not for everyone.
And without proper preparation and integration, they’re just an intense experience.

Used responsibly and safely, however, they can be a catalyst for deep inner work.

That’s the work we focus on.
