I have had the opportunity to work on Several Affordable Housing Projects (delivering thousands of units) from the 1980s to early 2000s and this has given me an unparalleled wealth of knowledge and experience. My expertise encompassed not only the design of affordable housing schemes, but also the supervision of the projects – 
In February 1990, I took charge of the SSNIT Housing Project in Tamale when the costs were running out of control. From 108 units, the scope was enlarged to 508 units and new cost savings measures were introduced to reduce the overall project cost. 
I take pride in my ability to deliver cost effective housing units. Through effective design methods, costs can be kept at a minimum without sacrificing on the safety of inhabitants.  
I have also designed and supervised the construction of many residential and commercial buildings, schools, offices, markets, health centers etc. I also supervised the construction of the 240 bed Regional Hospital (Trafalgar) at Ho among others.

Last week was a special one for me.  
Curaçao hosted the Interamerican Scout Conference for the first time, and welcoming leaders from across the region to my home country was an honor I’ll carry for a long time. There’s something powerful about doing this on the same soil that shaped you.

In the middle of all of it, I received the Youth of the Americas Award and what made it unforgettable is that my father was the one who presented it to me.
He received the same award many years ago.
Standing there, with him handing it to me, felt like a full-circle moment I’ll never forget.

Scouting has given me so much over the years. Leadership, global friendships, purpose, and a belief in what young people can do when they’re trusted and supported. I’m committed to giving that back, to creating more spaces where young people can lead, grow, and shape the future they want.

Grateful for the journey.
Grateful for the people who walk it with me.
And grateful for the chance to serve a Movement that continues to change lives, including mine.

I moderated a tourism investment panel last week at the Curaçao International Investment Summit.

Five people. 

An investor who's been building here for 20 years. A CEO representing 250+ members of the tourism sector. A fintech running operations data across 30 Caribbean islands and countries. A business intelligence expert leading with insights at the Tourist Board. A government director coordinating major projects.

The initial plan was simple: pitch opportunities, showcase returns, get investors excited.

Something else happened.

Last year, government and private sector aligned on seven priorities for sustainable tourism. They passed them as resolutions at our National Tourism Conference.

That alignment changed the conversation.

One panelist said it clearly: "We have room to grow. The data proves it. But the question is how we grow, not just if we grow."

We started asking different questions.

What type of investor do we actually want? How do we measure carrying capacity? What does social impact look like? How do we develop our workforce while growing? What benefits the community?

This is what systems change looks like.

You're not stopping growth. You're not choosing between development and preservation. You're changing what counts as success.

Is it perfect? No. Are there tensions? Yes. Some still push volume over value. Some want quick returns over patient capital.

But the question changed.

And when the question changes, behavior follows.

I've watched plenty of strategic plans sound beautiful and change nothing.

What changes things is when practitioners, policymakers, and data experts start using the same frame. When five different people answer "what does success look like?" and their answers fit together.

We're not there yet. But we're asking better questions.

Better questions build better systems.
