The worst career advice I ever got was simple.

"Say yes to everything."

At first, it sounds smart. Be open. Get more experience. Show you're a team player.

But here's what really happened.

Saying yes to everything made my work terrible. I was spread thin. Burned out. No time to think, no chance to go deep. I missed real opportunities because I was busy with meaningless tasks.

No one rewarded me for being available. They just expected more.

Now, I say no. A lot. If it's not important, I let it pass. I double down on the things that actually matter.

The truth? Growth comes from focus, not from pleasing everyone.

If you're still saying yes to everything, stop. The best work happens when you protect your time and energy.
