DGM came to us as he was a small business that needed help on a Freelance basis. I was asked to help implement a robust credit policy and ensure cash flow was steady.

•	Implementing credit procedures.
•	Chasing clients for payments in advance of projects commencing.

Reconcile and allocate debtor accounts and deal with any bad debt. Reconcile all foreign currency accounts with over 10 bank accounts in various currencies.
Implement better credit control functions including automating systems where possible.
Managing collections for IHG (Intercontinental Hotels group) worldwide and liaising with relevant departments in order to implement new project.
Dealing with returns, credit notes and reporting to the Finance Director and Manager.
Dealing with Credit insurers to ensure all invoicing was accurately reported and updated each month.
Generating reports for Cash flow and various duties.
At a later stage the Company changed most of their collections to Invoice discounting.

After my redundancy from I.D.T I took on temp/contract work whilst looking for my next role. This included tasks such as implementing change from manual to automated system; Verifying data, Credit management and cash collections and also liaising with programmers to help improve their Credit management systems.

IDT Corporation

I.D.T were looking for someone to manage their Carrier finance dept. as they had recently opened a new subsidiary in the UK and they needed someone who could improve the dept and Customer dealings. My role was to improve and implement a whole new dept and retrain the staff that had already been recruited but were ineffective.

Re-structuring the whole Dept. and introducing new procedures.
Reconciling all the ledgers to agree with creditors and debtors.
Producing monthly and weekly invoices and ensuring we adhere to month end procedures. 
Analysing invoices to ensure IDT was invoiced correctly and raising disputes including following up complex issues sometimes technical.
Establishing better links with other departments such as Sales and Operations as well as improving relationships with Carriers compared to a lack of Customer care before I joined
Resolving VAT issues with regards to supply and demands of services across Europe.
Organising the Head Office move from the UK to Belgium and ensuring that any new procedures comply with each European countries laws/regulations.
Managing a team of five people working with them very closely on a day to day basis.
Working with European clients as well as other European subsidiaries. 
Follow up problems relating to Carrier disputes across Europe and Internationally. 
Generating reports for Directors as well as for senior Managers in the U.S.
Monitoring weekly accounts and the terms set such as credit limits or any guarantees which may be held by us.

Primus is a NASDAQ listed Company and I was brought into their UK office to help cover and trouble -shoot their Credit department. I was offered a permanent role but was head hunted into I.D.T
Working with the Billing Dept. to get disputes resolved; Meeting clients in order to get debts cleared or get problems resolved; Recording Sales invoices on spreadsheets due to lack of systems in order to chase them when due; Liaising with various depts on an everyday basis & assisting with new European carriers as they come on board; Reviewing credit limits on account as and when necessary; Monitoring pre-paid or accounts with credit limits to ensure they do not exceed them; Reporting of aged debts to Directors and Global C.F.O in the U.S.; Getting Primus into the 'Graydon circle for Telecommunications'.

I joined Interoute as a temp. initially but was quickly offered a permanent role looking after all Purchase Ledger aspects of the Company. A fast growth company with Operations expanding rapidly. Due to way in which Carriers deal with one another many aspects from the credit control side interlinked with Purchase Ledger. An opportunity arose for me to become Credit Assistant and then at a later date promoted to team leader.	
Tracking all invoices sent out manually; Credit checks; Dealing with disputes (Loops; Overcharging; Over-billing etc.); Training and supervising staff; Raising transfers for foreign payments and allocating on accounting system; Reconciliation in sterling and foreign currencies; Generating cash flow reports for expenditure and revenue; Dealing with all circuits accounts ensuring that circuits are verified and paid for on time; Delegating tasks and inputting journals.

Reconciling figures on Accounting system to agree with suppliers; Dealing with over 300 live accounts; Establishing a completely new system; Dealing with requests for payment and queries; Running manual payment runs; Clearing back-log of unpaid debts and in turn improving credit terms with suppliers and also improving Companies credit rating; Dealing with multiple currencies; Working with Credit manager on the Carrier side to ensure invoices for Carriers got paid; Preparing cash flows each month; Dealing with disputes and chasing up credit notes if due and various other adhoc duties; Training new assistant.
