I’m a strategic communicator, wellness advocate, and former 9-1-1 dispatcher with 16+ years of experience in higher education, spanning academic medicine and public safety. At the center of it all is my belief that words, when used well, can connect people, change systems, and create real belonging.

As Program Manager for the UAB Medicine Office of Wellness, I lead all things communications—newsletter strategy, website content, marketing, storytelling, graphic design, and digital engagement. My work supports a mission to improve well-being at the individual, team, and organizational level. I develop messaging that resonates, bridges departments, and reflects the human side of medicine.

I’ve worn a lot of hats over the years: creative, office manager, dispatcher, educator, nonprofit marketer. I’ve managed social media for complex organizations, written thousands of pieces of content, and designed educational resources to support mental health, equity, and connection in high-stress environments. 

Before UAB, I spent 13 years in public safety communications. That work taught me how to communicate clearly under pressure, hold space for hard stories, and lead with empathy. I bring that same presence to every role I take on.

I’m also the Communications Director for 911der Women, a nonprofit advancing women in 9-1-1. I manage brand identity, digital storytelling, and campaign strategy, amplifying the voices of frontline professionals and building community across the U.S. Recently, I was part of a team that helped design and implement a national wellness conference.

My foundation is in criminal justice, criminology, sociology, and art (B.A. from Judson College, M.S. from The University of Alabama). I have a deep interest in human behavior and am certified Mental Health First Aider.

Across every role, my goal is the same: to use thoughtful communication, creativity, and care to make systems more human. Creativity is the thread that ties it all together—and the tool I trust most to help people feel seen, supported, and understood.
