I recently cleaned up my CRM and was surprised to see that around 30% of the companies I discussed lead generation with in 2023 (just 2 years ago) don’t exist anymore.

Don’t ignore “not interested” replies.
All replies matter.

1) You should respond to every reply - even the negative ones. Algorithms don’t care if the reply is positive or negative - what matters is that there’s a conversation. That back-and-forth helps strengthen your domain reputation. (Instantly.ai AI agent is built for this.)

2) Sometimes, a negative reply can turn into a positive - or at least a warm lead. Depends on how you handle it. You can use, for example, Josh Braun’s style of objection handling. But don’t ask “May I know why you are not interested?” - that’s really annoying and accomplishes nothing.

3) A “not now” reply means you can easily re-engage in 3-4 months - and they won’t be as cold by then.
Handle all replies to show there’s a real human behind the outreach.

4) Negative replies also mean you hit the inbox - and you weren’t ignored. They’re a great source of insight too - why weren’t they interested? Look at the prospect’s data - maybe there are some common patterns.

5) If your email is well-written, the majority of your “not interested” replies will look like the ones in the attached pictures.

What’s not cool is getting no replies at all.

The idea is simple - get the domain list, score/enrich it, then find the right people in those companies.

1. Start with the source.
For e-commerce → Storeleads.
For popular tools (like HubSpot, Pipedrive) → CompanyEnrich – gives you full company lists already using the tool.
For niche tools → BuiltWith + filtering.

🧠 Make sure your list is big enough here - no point running the whole workflow just to reach 100 people.

2. Score the domain list.
 Data’s often outdated.
 We push it into Clay → deduplicate (important!) → normalize domains → build BuiltWith links → use ZenRows to check if the tech is actually live.

3. Find people (faster way).
 Upload the validated domains to Instantly.ai SuperSearch, filter by roles, and push contacts straight into your campaign - with verified emails.

 Clay is great, but still too manual for simple tech-based outreach (better for trigger-based stuff).

Cold Email mistake 6. Ignoring recipient time zones

Small detail - but it can boost replies simply because your email lands when your prospect is active during business hours.

Business inboxes are usually less crowded than the personal ones - but it’s always better to be at the top of the inbox, not buried at the bottom.

To start, divide your sending schedule into Europe, the Americas, and the Pacific. 
A more advanced approach is to use the prospect’s actual location - not just the company’s HQ. 

Some tools - like Reply - can automatically adapt to the prospect’s time zone.

I get it - people travel, work remotely, and have flexible hours. But this small adjustment might still give your results a lift.

This is the easiest sale you'll ever make.
​
I tracked every project we've done for 2 years, and this Clay table CONSISTENTLY had the highest profit margin and lowest time investment.
​
The 6-step process I use to build it:
​
(1) Ask what their sales team researches manually.
​
I'll jump on a call with a rep and watch them prep for a meeting. Button by button. I need to see how they think so I can replicate it in Clay.
​
(2) Request sample input data. I ask for a list of companies they've recently met with. This becomes my test data to make sure the Clay table actually works.
​
(3) Map it out in Miro. 
​
I create a visual board: Company name (input) → What Clay does → Output. Then I send them a Loom walking through it to confirm I understood correctly.
​
(4) Build the table with URL references.
​
This is key: for every data point Clay finds, I include the source URL and date. Sales reps need to validate the research, especially if it's pulling from Wikipedia or a 2013 article.
​
(5) Generate “Battlecards” using the Clay and Google Docs enrichment. 
​
Use ChatGPT to format the text properly. I prompt it to bold section headers, space out paragraphs, and structure it like a briefing doc. Then I feed that into a Google Doc enrichment.
​
(6) Set up Slack notifications and CRM updates.
​
Every time the table runs, it sends the battle card to Slack and updates the CRM with notes. Zero manual handoff.
​
This table? 
​
It's boring. All it does is just fast account research.
​
But it saves at least 3-5 hours a week, makes sales reps research faster, and you can spin it our in just a couple of hours.
​
I'm not saying don't build lead gen tables - I'm saying don't ignore the boring stuff that can also make you money with less headache.
​
Prospects don't know they need this until you build it for them.

Client 2: 40+ leads in 3 months. Quality stuff. They closed zero deals. Blamed us anyway.

Last one still stings.

2. Moaaz Mazhry is leaving B2B Boosted
​
Moaaz built almost every automation for my agency.
​
And now he's starting his own thing.
​
I'm SO proud of him. He really does deserve the world. 
​
But also? I'm bricking it.
​
Because finding someone who understands your systems at that level doesn't happen overnight.
​
Luckily I already replaced him (so please don’t DM me offering automation services lol)
​
3. My schedule is a MESS
​
- I'm waking up at 5:30am Mon-Fri
- feel low blood sugar by 9am.
- Work until 5pm. 
- 11-hour days.
- can’t sleep too well as I keep on thinking about decisions I need to make the next day.
​
I've got tens of inbound leads to qualify each day, email inboxes to manage, my community inbox inside Unlock Clay, client troubleshooting for B2B Boosted, client calls, webinars, YouTube, LinkedIn… I joked last week that I thought I was going insane after shooting a video for 45 mins without the microphone being switched on. 
​
And the prioritization just falls apart when you're context-switching every 20 minutes. The reality is, I'm building the infrastructure I should've built six months ago at the moment. 
​
Life isn’t always pretty!
​
And I'm working on being more raw about this stuff. 
​

Oh, and to make things even more depressing, I just spent £5,000 on learning sales funnels.
​
And no, I haven’t paid for another self-proclaimed “agency growth consultant” this time lol.

So just a reminder for you that most people, like me, just post the good stuff and very rarely the bad stuff.

I hit 1,000 YouTube subscribers last month.
​
Here are the 5 most important lessons I’ve learned: 
​
1) Loom → Tella → YouTube agency
​
I hit 500 subscribers by uploading 70+ Loom videos.

After 500 subscribers, I switched to Tella, after Max Mitcham told me it looks more slick that Loom.

Now, just as I hit 1k subscribers, I started working with Views To Clients to scale my channel. Lots of high quality videos coming up 🍿, buzzing for you to see them! 

​2) Lead Magnets crush.
​
I captured >4k emails from YouTube viewers in the last year alone.
​
How?
​
Just by saying “if you want the resources used during this video, check the top link in the description below”.
​
I know it’s common sense, but at this rate you can opt in like 20% of your video viewers into your email marketing.
​
3) Button by button tutorials are the way to go.
​
Hardly anyone builds out a Clay table from start to finish.
​
Most folks just do a walkover of a finished Clay workflow rather than showing you every tiny little step that you need to take in order to create a killer Clay table.
​
So all my best-performing videos to date have been no-BS button by button tutorials.
 
​
4) 1 in 2 people buy.
​
Since I started posting on YouTube, for every 2 subscribers I get, I have 1 new student inside of Unlock Clay.
​
At 200 subscribers: 100 Unlock Clay students.
Now 1k subscribers: 500 Unlock Clay students.
​
Causation or correlation? 

No idea, mate. 
​
5) Prospects trust you WAY more after watching a YouTube video.
​
On the one hand it’s good because sometimes I can close new clients after just 1 sales call.
​
On the other hand it means that now I need to pre-qualify leads from YouTube to make sure they have the budget & other requirements in order to work with B2B Boosted.
​

I’m doubling down on YouTube this quarter.
​

I stopped working weekends 3 months ago.
​
And somehow this is when I saw the most growth I've ever had at B2B Boosted and Unlock Clay.
​
Which is the exact opposite of what everyone tells you nowadays. 
​
”do more” is AWESOME advice for some folks.
​
But for me?
​
I had no priorities. 
​
Working weekends was just compensating for the inefficiencies of my work Monday to Friday.
​
Which turned into burnout in the long run.
​
I recall Joel Sinclair-Horne telling me how when he works on weekends he ends up crashing after 10 consecutive days of working non-stop.
​
 But, there are some folks that I met recently, like Abdul Mukati, who manages to work 7 days a week without the burnout. 
​
I guess you just need to know what works for you.
​
Here’s what I’ve been doing recently:
​
1/ I started going to sleep super early.
​
Call me crazy, but I’m in bed before 8pm and asleep by 9pm on most nights.
​
I feel this way I get plenty of time in the morning to do some exercise, go on a morning walk & have some “me time” before starting work.
​
(Btw - I’m currently watching a series called The Diplomat ​ - 100% recommend to anyone looking for a good series on Netflix).
​
2/ Sports & recovery.
​
Running twice a week. Football twice a week. 
Just went to some outdoor sauna and cold plunge place. 
Those have been the best ways to switch off from work during the week.
​
3/ I stopped treating weekends like they were bonus workdays.
​
To this day, when I wake up on a Saturday I have the inner temptation to reply to a Linkedin DM, record a new video or top up a campaign for a client, but I have to remind myself that I DON’T WORK WEEKENDS. 
​
4/ Better focus.
​
I used to think I could improve my Spanish speaking, learn N8N, grow my agency, and still remember to do laundry and load the dishwasher every evening. 
​
(spoiler: I couldn't)
​
Oh, and one thing I’m learning to do better now - saying “no” to random opportunities that come up, as they distract me from working on B2b boosted.
​

For a bit of context…

I’ve hired 15+ people in the last 2 years of running B2B Boosted

There’s 1 trait that separates average hires from absolute killers. 
​
And no…
​
It's not: 
​
- Speed of execution
- being not just fluent, but ARTICULATE when speaking.
- Technical skills
​
(although those are great pre-requisited)
​
It's this: 
​
They want to start their own thing.
​
Sounds backwards. 
​
But when someone's end goal is to actually build their own agency or business, they do WAY more than just show up for a paycheck. They go beyond the job description and think like FOUNDERS. They move faster because every task is practice for their own future.
​
Moaaz Mazhry is a perfect example.
​
When Moaaz told me that he’s starting his own business, I didn’t panic.
​
Why?
​
Because from day 1 the deal was:
​
”Let me know a couple of months before you consider starting your own agency.

And please document everything so it is a smooth handover for your successor.”
​
It’s been 3 weeks since moaaz is no longer full-time with b2b boosted, the automations are still running just fine.
​
The morale of this post?
​
Dunno mate.
​
Just kidding, but this taught me to always ask “what does success look like in 2-3 years from now?”
​
This way you will avoid surprises when the employee quits in the next year.
​
PS: Shoutout Moaaz Mazhry - I interviewed 10+ automations folks & I’m 100% convinced that his sales & business acumen means that he can systemise and automate any business out there. 

Should probably write him a recommendation one day too lol.

I got hit up by a massive AI SDR tool last week.

Their messaging was absolutely horrendous.
​
- Robotic personalization. .
- Triple hyphens. 
​
And the irony is that they wanted me as a referral partner.
​
I messaged their head of sales: 

"You saw me on the Clay experts directory but sent me THIS? Do you think this is a good message to send?"
​
And this is the very problem with cold outreach right now.
​
Everyone's chasing the magic hack:
​
AI agents, AI SDRs, shiny object syndrome Clay table.
​
In reality…
​
-Just source a list
- Write a personalised & relevant message.
​
That's it. No way around it.
​
Yet so many folks fall for this AI SDR crap.
​
Clients want an all-in-one solution.
​
But what they actually need is someone who can write copy that doesn't suck, build a clean list, and keep emails out of spam.
​
Not an AI agent that hallucinates 10,000 terrible emails.
​
Now contrast this with 1 email that we generated using Clay and our Custom GPT prompt.
​
TL;DR: 
​
(1) AI SDRs are hopeless.
​
No one likes them. And I've never seen one work. They sound robotic because they ARE robotic - and prospects can smell it from a mile away.
​
Oh, and I won’t join a “partner program” for AI SDRs anytime soon.

(2) There are so many better ways to do copywriting.
​

I didn’t deny anyone who requested to have me on, because I love this kinda stuff.
​
But frankly, I'm burnt out from it now.
​
But here's what I learned before hitting that wall:
​
1) ONLY host a webinar if you have a KILLER GIVEAWAY & more than 150 people signing up.
​
Without a strong webinar promise(that is achievable), you're just talking to 20 people who half-listen. 
​
The giveaway needs to be valuable enough that people actually show up & stay till the end.
​
2) To prepare for a killer webinar, it takes at LEAST 4-5 hours.
​
And yes, that’s assuming that you don’t want to just wing it.
​
You need:
- quality slides (with your website in the corner of each slide so that the attendees can treat it as a CTA).
- lead magnet (aka something you give away in return for the attendee’s email address).
- a decent offer(free audit, free consultation, free automation or something that can convert attendees into buyers).
- 3-4 dry runs of the webinar before to make sure your timing is correct & you are articulate.

3) The ROI isn't immediate.
​
Of course, there may be a few folks that buy Unlock Clay whilst watching the webinar.
​
But since I am mainly selling something higher ticket like B2B Boosted’s agency services - most of the money is made in the follow ups to the webinar.
​
Just recently with the Smartlead webinar I created a “Webinar Follow-up Funnel” which nurtures leads & shares the resources.
​
The better webinars book in 4-5 sales calls and I can close 2-3 deals.
Oh, and the worst ones? I have to pay a graphic designer for the presentation slides out of pocket & I make $0 after spending hours on it.
​
The real value though? 
​
Becoming a thought leader in the space. 
​
And getting “borrowed attention” from the company that invites you to the webinar.
​
And doing virtue signalling posts like this breaking down the economics of running webinars lol.
​
4) You get stuck in an infinite invitation loop.
​
Now admittedly, this is a positive. But if you do even one good webinar… people are watching. Once you finish a webinar, suddenly you're getting asked to do 2-3 more. 

I've actually had to turn down a lot of these new requests because I can't keep doing one every week. 
​
Webinars are awesome for building authority and growing a business. 
​
But they're not a quick money play. 
​
And they'll drain you if you don't cap how many you commit to.
​

18 months ago, I trained 2 sales reps at E-Tabs from scratch.

And this moment made me super proud.
​
For context…
​
When I just started B2B Boosted, I chatted with Benjamin Rietti who just brought in 2 sales apprentices at the time
​
They had no previous sales experience selling B2B SaaS and needed help with building a sales process.
​
Over 12+ weeks we built a multi-channel outreach system using HeyReach & Smartlead, powered by Clay, Apollo & Linkedin Sales Navigator.
​
This wasn’t like the typical b2b boosted work, because we had to create sales scripts, train the team on the scripts & build a Sales Playbook from scratch.
​
It was 100% worth it.
​
Why?
​
I was just scrolling through their Smartlead inbox to see how they were getting on and came across this email.
​
Yes, it’s not 100% perfect.
​
But, it has:
​
- Personalised trigger
- AI-generated names of reports that the prospect actually creates
- mention of E-tabs’ USP (report automation)
- CTA (oops, cropped it out of the screenshot, my bad!)
​
Shoutout David Scheffer for sending this email, really happy to see you grow in the role. 
​
Generally, it makes me happy seeing clients not only implement the systems, scripts and processes, but also to grow in their roles thanks to these systems.
​
 Next step - finding more sales triggers and signals to make the outreach even crispier :)
