RTE Réseau de Transport d'Electricité

The team is in charge of the overhead infrastructure maintenance on the electrical grid and its surrounding. We cover 6 French departments and 2 administrative regions which are Hauts-de-France and Grand Est. The members of my team are diverse. Woodcutters works with electrical technicians, as well as painters. 

As the manager of this team, I organize, prioritize, challenge and lead the team so that the grid is always able to deliver the best quality to our clients, every second of the year.

Team Manager

Our towers, installed among different kinds of environment, more or less corrosive, need to be watched, diagnosed and protected if necessary. That is what we do in every region in France. And I am responsible for this activity in the North-Eastern part of France. 
That means, working with our collaborators located in 3 sites, multiples companies that come to coat our towers and others that walk with us for a better quality of the protection, campaign after campaign. 

And it also means walking with our collaborators when we are implementing new numerical tools that help us to know better our physical equipment.

Corrosion maintenance policy leader

The project aims to optimize RTE asset management.

My part focuses on the assets aging : how to estimate assets age and lifetime regarding the sollicitations and climate conditions ? How to model them ? 
This means that I have to modelize correctly the asset and taking into account all the phenomena involved that can be taken in account. 

There are transmission towers, cables and connection equipments in my field of study. But also power electronic materials like coils and substations busbars.

A big part of the projet was a collaboration with Université de Sherbrooke, in Québec, Canada where we tackle several projects together, so that all Transmission Systems Operators could profit from ours researchs.

R&D project leader

The main objective of my job is to establish new methods of calculation in mechanical field.
I am in charge of two main subjects : the short-circuit on the structures and the acoustics of electrical equipments. 

Now on the subject of short-circuit, I am working on new methods to estimate the margin that we could have on our structures strenght. That leads to differents tasks as described below : 
- to take charge of the phenomenom
- to take charge of the actual method and tools (mainly the solftware that it is used)
- to establish collaborations with others companies, services, universities, that uses differents methods and tools 
- to expand to scope of available tools
- to establish test protocols
- to enter into contracts with construction companies.

And on the acoustics subject, the target is to get a better understanding of the coupling between of electromagnetism and structures, that causes the initial noise. But it also includes the propagation in industrial environment.

The French automotive manufacturer Renault, needs during a development, to optimize the product in terms of endurance, crash and vibrations. 

I leaded differents vibrations and endurance studies, to help the manufacturer to reach their goal. 
The softwares used : Nastran, Abaqus and PAM-CRASH.

The subject of this internship was the endurance of a train brake. 

It was about to estimate the endurance life of a train brake. And were done in the study are described below. 
- to establish a state of art of fatigue models 
- to take in account the temperature aspects during the braking
- to give an estimation of the endurance life, based on the company software and the new method which I have determined

The subject was on the overhead conductors fatigue, under the wind load. 

The French transmission and system operator (TSO, Rte) needed to understand and to predict the lifetime of their overhead conductor under the wind load. 

Based on experiments campaigns that my supervisor has leaded, I helped to understand how the filaments, in the conductors slip and how it contributes in the damping of the conductors during its vibration.

Comment puis-je aider ? 
C'est mon état d'esprit professionnel. 
Qu'on soit dans une équipe de techniciens, d'ingénieurs, de chercheurs, des solutions on en cherche toujours. Et ce que j'aime, c'est pouvoir aider à trouver des solutions. Elles peuvent être d'organisation, de réseaux de connaissance, d'information, de performance de process, de coordination inter-directions, d'équilibrage de budget, de suivi de chantiers.

Ce que j'aime par dessus tout, c'est l'humain dans toute cette machinerie. Le respect de l'autre. Je cultive mon humilité en allant à la rencontre des autres à travers leurs passions, leurs savoirs que je n'ai pas. J'aime particulièrement célébrer les victoires petites comme grandes au sein de mon équipe.
