I’m particularly interested in the practical challenges that emerge at scale:

When done well, automation reduces manual effort, improves accountability, and allows privacy to operate quietly in the background - rather than becoming a constant blocker for teams.

I believe sustainable compliance comes from well-designed systems, clear ownership, and tools that reflect how organizations actually work - not from checklists created purely for regulatory comfort.

This is the story of Pronto, A startup quietly riding the same consumer wave that built India’s quick commerce giants.

And at the center of it is a 23-year-old woman founder who saw a simple but powerful problem in urban India.

The Problem Every Indian Household Knows

In most Indian cities today, one thing is common:

Finding reliable help for cooking, cleaning, or house chores is extremely difficult.

Urban families struggle with:

Unreliable domestic help

No standard pricing

No verification

No backup when someone is absent

At the same time, India’s middle class is expanding rapidly.

Dual-income households.

Busy lifestyles mean less time for household chores, This gap created the opportunity.

Instead of building another app, Anjali Sardana built an on-demand home help 
platform.

The Idea Behind Pronto, The vision was simple: Bring quick commerce thinking into home services.

Just like groceries arrive in minutes, why can't services like:
Cooking ,Cleaning, Household support be booked instantly and delivered with reliability?

This idea became Pronto.
Within months, demand exploded.
Families loved the convenience.
 Workers loved the predictable income.

The Breakthrough Moment

Then came the big milestone.

Pronto raised funding at a $100 million valuation (around ₹920 crore).

And this happened in less than 12 months of building the company.

For a 23-year-old #founder, that’s extraordinary.

But it also shows something bigger happening in India. #startup

Started with ₹50,000 and a 15 sq ft kitchen in Bengaluru, four cousins.

This is not a startup fairy tale.

This is the story of P. C. Mustafa and iD Fresh Food.

Born in a small village in Kerala.
Son of a daily wage worker.

Failed Class 6.

Went on to study at National Institute of Technology Calicut and later Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

But instead of chasing a corporate career, he came back to build something simple:

👉 Fresh idli-dosa batter.

It took them 9 months to sell 100 packets a day in just 20 stores.

That was the first real milestone.
Not funding. Not valuation.
Just proof that customers trusted them.

The Defining Moment

In 2013, they expanded to Chennai.

Invested 7 years of profits into a factory.

The market was brutal. Competitors were selling at half their cost using shortcuts and chemicals.

They had three options:

Add preservatives and compete.

Take debt.
Shut down.
They shut down.
Cleared employee salaries.
 Came back to Bengaluru.
 Chose ethics over expansion.
That decision built the brand.

Innovation Without Labs, No food tech background,  No R&D budget, They used Google to learn about pH levels and viscosity,  Standardized fermentation.

Built SOPs from scratch, Their packaging innovation?  Inspired by Transformers.

A pouch during transit.
A vessel after opening.
 No transfer. No contamination.
Even the famous Vada batter took 3 years just to perfect the “hole.”
Because in India, vada without a hole is not vada.

Crisis Became Opportunity

In 2021, viral rumors accused them of using animal extracts.
Instead of defensive PR, they live-streamed their factory.
Nothing to hide.
242 million people reached. #STARTUP

Today ₹850+ crore revenue.

 Operations across India, UAE, US, UK, Singapore, Saudi.

 Zero debt.
 Profitable.

And now planning an IPO by October 2027.
Target? A billion-dollar listing.

So there's this guy, Abhishek Kejriwal, working as a product manager at Pratilipi (a reading app), ofcourse he was from IIT Bombay.

His office organized a hackathon in 2019. The theme? "Build something for the next billion Indians coming online because of Jio."

The idea they pitched didn't even win. But Abhishek couldn't stop thinking—"Why isn't there anything good for small-town India?"

Here's where it gets interesting.

Instead of spending months building an app, these guys did something genius—they ran FAKE ads on Facebook!

Yeah, you read that right. No product. Just ads asking, "What kind of app do you need?"

Then came the real grind—100 phone calls EVERY SINGLE DAY! ☎️

Abhishek and his 3 friends ( Vipul Allawadhi, Naveen Dewangan, and Mohit Sharma) split up the calls:

Each person: 25-30 calls daily
Talking to random people who responded to ads
listening to their problems

Imagine doing this for weeks! Most people would give up after day 3.

Out of every 100 calls, 30 people said the same thing—" We need a community app!"

Abhishek was confused. WhatsApp Groups exist. Facebook Groups exist. What's the problem?

So they kept calling. And then they spoke to this president of the Rajasthan Nursing Union (16K members).

He explained the real pain:

"Look, when I post one message in WhatsApp, I get 100 replies. Everyone gets annoyed with notifications and mutes the group. If I make it broadcast-only, there's no discussion. 

Facebook Groups? Zero control. I can't manage donations properly. I can't send targeted announcements." #startup

Boom. That was it. Kutumb

These weren't random groups. These were proper organizations - nursing unions, teacher associations, temple committees, caste community groups, farmer cooperatives, housing societies.

And here's the crazy part - India has 3.5 Mn registered associations like this!

Nobody was solving 4 them.

April 2020 - Launching During Complete Lockdown! 🔒

The whole country was shut down. And these guys launched Kutumb.

The team? Just 5 people total.

4 founders + 1 product manager

First customers?

A Muslim community group

Total users: 10,000

How Did They Know It Would Work? 🎯

Here's another smart move.

After 7 days, 14 days, 30 days - they called users again and asked:

"What would happen if this app disappeared tomorrow?"

The responses gave them goosebumps:

People actually got emotional. They said things like:

"Please don't shut it down, we'll pay you to keep it running!"
"This is the first time we can manage our organization smoothly!"
"We collected more donations in 3 months than in the last 12 years!"

That's when they knew - this was it. Product-market fit achieved.

Company valuation? Went from $15 Mn (late 2020) to $170 Mn!
That's 11X growth in one year!

FY25

Growth: 173% (2.7X jump!)

And the biggest achievement—PROFIT! ✅

In 2020, when most people were shutting businesses because of lockdowns and uncertainty, a husband-wife duo from Kerala decided to build one. 

Swaroop Krishnan and Gopika B Raj were not sitting in a fancy startup hub in Bengaluru or Mumbai. 

They were observing something simple but powerful—Indian youth were wearing streetwear that represented global culture but very little that represented their own identity. 

Western typography, American hip-hop references, and Japanese graphics — but where was South Indian heritage? Where was mythology? Where was cultural pride?

They believed that culture could be worn. They began designing T-shirts and oversized streetwear inspired by traditional art forms, mythical characters, and regional pride. 

Instead of flooding the market with inventory, they introduced a drop-based model. Limited collections. Limited time. Scarcity.

The early days were tough. It was the middle of the pandemic. 

Logistics were unpredictable. Customer acquisition costs were rising. 

Marketplaces like Amazon and Myntra dominated distribution. 

They faced a critical decision: should they list on marketplaces for faster sales? 

They chose not to. That decision slowed early growth but protected their brand and margins. They sold only through their own website.

The first few customers came through organic Instagram storytelling. 

Friends shared posts. Early buyers posted pictures. 

The #founders personally engaged with their community. 

They were not selling fashion; they were selling identity. 

In April 2025, they raised a $1.3 million seed round 

By then, they had already built traction. Investors were not betting on an idea; they were betting on a community. #startup

They have served over 1 million customers and operate five offline stores across Bengaluru, Kochi, Trivandrum, and Calicut.

Two founders from small-town India are quietly building the future of robotics for the world.

But from towns like Hinganghat in Maharashtra and Namakkal in Tamil Nadu.
Meet the builders behind Origin and CynLr.

One of them, Yogesh Ghaturle, first built a startup that was acquired by Amazon for around $20M.

But instead of staying comfortable, he started again.

This time in AI robotics.

His company Origin is building robots that can paint walls and finish construction jobs.

And the company already has robots deployed in New York, renting at $20,000 per month each.

Meanwhile in Bengaluru, Gokul N A is building a different kind of robotics company.

His startup CynLr raised $10M funding to build robots that can see and manipulate objects intelligently.

In a country where deep-tech funding is still limited.

Both started with curiosity, not capital.

And both are building technology for global markets.

India has already produced giants in software.

When Pallavi Utagi became a mother in 2016, she faced a heartbreaking choice: buy expensive disposable diapers laden with chemicals or resort to outdated cloth nappies that felt impractical for modern parenting. 

Today, her startup SuperBottoms has grown to ₹84.3 crore in annual revenue (FY25) with a ₹191 crore valuation, proving that sustainability and innovation can disrupt even the most entrenched markets.

The Problem: Pallavi Utagi and her spouse Salil Utagi discovered that modern parents faced an impossible choice—either use harmful disposable diapers or settle for clunky, ineffective cloth alternatives. 

The baby care industry had convinced billions that single-use convenience was the only option, leaving no room for innovation.

The Spark: Refusing to accept this narrative, the couple didn't just identify a gap; they engineered a solution. 

They invested in technical textile research and developed "bumwear"—modern, high-performance cloth diapers that matched disposables in comfort while delivering environmental consciousness.

The Struggle (2016-2020): Launching in 2016, SuperBottoms faced massive headwinds. 

Market leaders spent billions convincing parents disposables were superior. The couple bootstrapped initially, facing skepticism from investors and customers alike. 

Every parent had been conditioned to believe cloth diapers meant compromise.

The Breakthrough (2021): Raising $2 million in Series A funding from Saama Capital and DSG Consumer Partners, SuperBottoms shifted from an unknown startup to a credible alternative. 

By FY21, they achieved ₹22 crore in revenue—a validation that parents actually wanted sustainable options.

The Celebrity Seal: Bollywood star Alia Bhatt invested in SuperBottoms and became a brand ambassador, signaling that sustainability wasn't fringe—it was mainstream. 

This move transformed the brand from an eco-conscious startup to an aspirational lifestyle choice. #startup

For India's Startup Ecosystem: SuperBottoms is a ₹84 crore proof point that #D2C brands can build unicorns by solving real consumer pain points, 
not just chasing hype.

He spent 20 years watching fruits and vegetables travel from farms to consumers.

And every single time, something went wrong in between.

Pratik Gupta wasn't a first-time entrepreneur chasing a trend. 

He had spent two decades working in digital commerce, grocery, and #FMCG — close enough to the food supply chain to see exactly where it was broken.

He saw farmers work their hardest, only to watch their produce pass through 4–5 middlemen before reaching a consumer's kitchen. 

Every extra hand meant less freshness, less traceability, and more mistrust.

He saw consumers—especially young, health-conscious families—trying to eat better. Searching for vegan options. Looking for low-carb vegetables. 

Caring about gut health and immunity. But when they ordered fruits and vegetables online, what arrived at the door often didn't match what was shown on the screen.

Quality was unpredictable. Sourcing was invisible. Trust was almost zero.

For years, Pratik sat with this problem. Not just as a professional. 

But as someone who genuinely cared about what people put on their plates.

In 2021, at a time when most people were still recovering from the chaos of a pandemic, he decided to stop watching the problem—and start solving it.

He founded Pluckk.

Not another grocery app. Not another quick-delivery startup.

Something different—India's first lifestyle-focused, farm-to-fork fresh produce platform.

The early days were not easy.

Building trust in a category where consumers had been disappointed again and again was hard. 

Convincing farmers to work directly with a small startup—without the safety net of established middlemen—required months of patience and relationship-building.

Today, four years after that decision to stop watching and start building, here is where Pluckk stands: #startup

🌿 400+ products—from daily vegetables to exotic greens, hydroponic produce, gut-health items, vegan ranges, and ready-to-eat meal kits.

🏙️ 4 cities—Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Pune—with Hyderabad and Chennai coming next.

💰 Revenue doubled to ₹85 crore in FY25—up from ₹42.8 crore in FY24.

📈 ₹100 crore ARR crossed in FY24—targeting ₹200 crore ARR.

In 2017, the Indian audio market was already a battlefield. Global giants like JBL and Sony held the premium fort, while a young, aggressive tiger named boAt was eating up the budget market.

Varun Gupta and Tarun Gupta. Two brothers who looked at this crowded, chaotic market and said, "There's still space."

Unlike the typical startup story of college dropouts, the Gupta brothers came prepared. Varun, with a background in e-commerce and digital marketing, understood how to sell. 

Tarun, with a keen eye for product and operations, understood what to sell.

They didn’t have massive VC checks. They had personal savings and a simple family ethos: Make money on every unit you sell.

The Initial Struggle & Strategy 🛠️ The early days weren't about glitzy billboards. 

While competitors were burning cash to grab market share, Boult played a sniper's game.

They positioned themselves as the "Aspirational Affordable" brand. 

If boAt was the loud, street-style icon, Boult became the sleek, design-first alternative for the slightly more understated consumer.

They focused intensely on Online Marketplaces. They didn't try to flood offline retail immediately. 

They mastered the Amazon and Flipkart algorithms, ensuring that when you searched for "wireless earbuds," Boult was right there—cheaper than the giants, better looking than the cheap knockoffs.

The "Bootstrapped" Discipline 💰 Here is the wildest part: For the longest time, GOBOULT remained 100% #bootstrapped. 

No investor pressure. No growth-at-all-costs mandates.

This forced them to be disciplined. Every rupee spent on ads had to bring back revenue. #startup

The FY25 Masterstroke (The Turnaround) 🔄 Fast forward to 2024-25. 

The Indian wearables market hit a wall. "Hyper-growth" ended. 

Established giants like boAt and Noise reported flat or declining revenues. The party seemed over.

Instead of panicking, they tightened the screws.

Revenue: Climbed to ₹763 Crore.

Material Costs: They actually reduced sourcing costs by 2.7% (to ₹391 Cr) despite selling more. 

That is operational excellence.

Late isn't Fatal: You don't have to be the first mover. You just have to be the better operator.

Shubham Gupta started Bonkers.corner in 2019. He was a young entrepreneur who understood something important:

India’s Gen Z and millennial consumers were changing fast.

They didn’t just want clothes.

They wanted identity, culture, and internet-inspired fashion.

The Problem That Triggered the Idea.

Traditional fashion brands in India were slow, collections were seasonal, and designs were generic.

And they rarely spoke the language of internet culture. Meanwhile, Gen Z consumers were discovering:

Early adopters were college students and Gen Z shoppers looking for something different from traditional fashion brands.

Word-of-mouth and social media helped the brand grow rapidly.

But one of the fastest-growing segments is streetwear and youth fashion.

At 15, most teenagers are thinking about school exams.

But one Indian teenager was thinking about how to make deliveries cost 
just 1 cent.

Today, his startup just raised $8.65 million.

Meet Naman Pushp, founder of Airbound.

He started building drones during the COVID lockdown in 2020 when he was just 15 years old.

Inspired by a video of drone delivery company Zipline, he built his first prototype using toothpicks, tape, and sanded 2D slices.
