• Facilitate the preparation and documentation of the Fund’s strategic plans and objectives and drive the implementation of approved strategies.

• Develop a performance monitoring tracker to monitor and report the implementation of the strategic plan.

• Design an efficient portfolio management system to ensure adequate allocation, monitoring, and

• Improved participation in gender-focused capacity-building projects and training programs by 70% through weekly engagement with Associates via dedicated channels.

• Provided strategic support to the Program Manager on fundraising and stakeholder engagement that secured
four financial sponsorships worth NGN10M for virtual programs outlined in the 2021 and 2022 calendar events.

• Executed a diverse range of virtual and physical roundtable/networking events and need-based programs in collaboration with partners such as the United Nations Women and the Canadian Government, benefiting over 2000 participants in Lagos and Abuja. These consultative dialogue events aimed to inspire and empower women
to pursue leadership roles in Management, Business, and Politics.

• Led the organisation's 2021 Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, facilitating the planning and execution of the impactful Big Sister Program across six cities in Nigeria. This initiative impacted 3,132 girls in senior secondary schools, equipping them with essential life skills and providing a transformative one-day mentoring program led by accomplished senior female leaders from various sectors of the economy.

Chinemerem Ugwu is a dynamic economist with a distinguished certification from the World Bank Group and extensive hands-on experience in Unlocking Investment & Finance in emerging markets and developing economies. 


Her expertise lies in development strategy, economic research, social impact, program management, and advocacy for gender parity and women's representation in leadership positions across Africa. She is deeply committed to advancing digital literacy and leveraging data and technology to drive positive change in various sectors.


Over the past three years, Chinemerem has made significant contributions to Women in Management, Business and Public Service, serving in roles ranging from research officer to program executive. In these capacities, she conducted industry surveys, contributed to publications on Gender Inclusiveness and Gender parity, and spearheaded skill-up programs aimed at empowering women in corporate Africa.


Currently serving as the strategy officer at the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, Chinemerem oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategic initiatives to tackle unemployment and foster wealth creation in Lagos. Her leadership in this role underscores her dedication to socioeconomic development and inclusive growth.


Chinemerem's academic achievements are equally impressive, graduating with Second Class Upper Division honors from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she ranked in the top 5% of her class despite her active involvement in extracurricular activities. As an alumna of the McKinsey Forward program and YALI Regional Leadership Centre West Africa, she has honed her skills in agile problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and effective communication.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Chinemerem is deeply committed to social impact initiatives. She currently leads a diverse team of volunteers in funding education for out-of-school children, with notable success in Abuja and Nasarawa states. Her passion for community engagement and advocacy for gender equality demonstrates her commitment to driving positive change at both local and global levels.
