This role demanded a blend of analytical prowess, problem-solving skills, and effective communication, ensuring the smooth execution of vaccine immunisation programs.

This role honed my ability to manage complex patient pathways with competence and care, significantly improving my organizational and time-management skills in a high-pressure environment.

Antenatal Clinicial Administrator

University of Leicester

My degree entailed the learning of fundamental biochemical and physiological processes that occur in the human body in normal and disease states. I gained invaluable lab experience in the final year project that ran for 11 weeks. I developed good presentation and oral communication skills, as well as enhanced analytic, deductive reasoning and research method skills. My dissertation was based on observing the interaction of an adaptor protein involved in DNA Replication with a protein involved with cancer pathways; writing this dissertation also allowed me to progressively develop good written communication skills.

Medical Biochemistry Student

Like many of us, I've been through the trenches of workplace challenges, feeling the weight of toxic leadership and the toll it takes on morale and productivity.

At 29, I mentally checked out of a job where my voice was drowned out by ineffective leaders.

Internally, it felt like a crash course in how not to lead, leaving me questioning my abilities and worth in the job market. Overwhelmed and burnt out, I found myself at a crossroads, unsure of my next steps.

Externally, I began dodging meetings and tasks, eventually deciding to leave. But quitting wasn't the end of my story; it was the beginning of a journey to redefine my portfolio career. 

With support from mentors and a burning passion for change, I carved out a new path as a contractor.

As a contractor, I encountered a myriad of leadership challenges, from navigating complex programmes to leading teams through the chaos of the COVID pandemic. 

Despite the stress, these experiences were invaluable, reaffirming my belief in the power of effective leadership and teamwork.

In parallel, I witnessed first-hand the common workplace struggles that plague organizations:

• Ineffective leadership
• Resource constraints
• Burnout
• A lack of direction. 

These issues breed disengagement and low productivity, a reality reflected in alarming statistics on employee dissatisfaction and burnout.

According to a recent Gallup report, only 15% of employees are actively engaged at work, leaving the majority disengaged.

Additionally, a Deloitte study found that 77% of employees have experienced burnout in their current job, with 50% experiencing it multiple times.

Amidst these challenges, I've been in the trenches, sifting through hundreds of job applications across different leadership levels and leading teams through mergers and emergencies.

These experiences have given me unique insights into what organizations need and what sets standout leaders apart.
