Most professionals over 40/50 are more tired, wired and distracted than they expected to be.

I help them change that.

As a 57‑year‑old trainer, certified health coach and iOS developer, I work on one problem from two angles:

• Coaching: 
Helping 40/50+ professionals improve energy, sleep and strength with simple, evidence‑based habits.

• Product: 
Building humane apps like Sunlock (sunlight before screenlight) and PRSNT (presence on demand) that protect focus instead of stealing it.

Across both, the goal is the same: protect the health, attention and performance of people in the second half of life, using the philosophy of “fundamentals over fads”.

I am an ICF accredited coach (PCC level) with a diploma in professional coaching practice. I am also certified in embodied healing systems (with a personal focus on childhood trauma and the impact of dysfunctional family systems on us as adults). I believe that the impact of trauma (childhood / generational / big T and small T) is present in us all and being able to work with and process that is a key component to creating a life that feels the way you want it to.

I combine mindset and body work to help you understand, process and move through the deeply engrained patterns that get in the way of what you want.

I led the Indirect Tax Disputes team on a day to day basis and took responsibility for the wellbeing of my colleagues as part of this role. 

In addition to managing large scale VAT and Customs Duty litigation before the UK Tax Tribunals, higher Courts and the CJEU, I was also heavily involved in complex VAT investigation and disclosure work for high profile clients. I also worked closely with my VAT colleagues on a number of legally privileged engagements. 

I regularly presented case law updates to members of the VAT practice across the EMEA network.

Key responsibilities included:

- negotiating with key stakeholders to agree and implement an internal secondment programme
- design, implement and oversee a graduate training programme for all resourcing graduates
- involvement in various internal firm wide projects

UK mobility lead

Example litigation includes:

Litigation for the Open University in relation to the application of education exemption. 

General Motors bad debt relief litigation. 

University of Huddersfield litigation in relation to lease and lease-back arrangements.

Litigation for a major mobile phone provider in relation to a VAT assessment in respect of “free goods” promotions. 

Other experience:

Engaging in formal and informal ADR in an attempt to resolve disputes collaboratively with HMRC. 

Drafting and case management of “Fleming” appeals covering topics such as: deal fees, pension administration, the correct VAT treatment of certain foods, compound interest, and taxpayer error.

Regularly advising clients on the legal consequences of tax specific issues which may arise. These have included: VAT issues in commercial disputes, cloud computing, cash back schemes, application of ESS, penalties and the Human Rights Act.

Drafting legal agreements as part of wider transfer pricing projects. Documents drafted include: a technology licence, a customer service and collections agreement, a strategic management and marketing agreement and a service agreement.

Training contract included 2 x 6 month seats in the Tax Disputes and Investigations team 

Examples of work carried out include:

VAT Interest Cars Group Litigation - a High Court group action claiming compound interest on overpayments of VAT made to HM Revenue & Customs ("HMRC"). This included drafting Claim Forms and Particulars of Claim; assisting in drafting factual witness statements for the test claimants; liaising with HMRC; preparing the trial bundle; and assisting Counsel at the hearing in the High Court.

Preparing and submitting a "Fleming" claim to HMRC following the ECJ decision in Danfoss to claim input tax paid on the provision of food to clients during meetings.

A variety of direct and indirect tax matters before the Special Commissioners; the VAT & Duties Tribunal and the First-tier Tribunal including: a Referral Notice to the First-tier Tribunal pursuant to paragraph 31A Schedule 18, Finance Act 1998 relating to corporation tax returns and the correct interpretation of Section 83A Finance Act 1989; an appeal to the Special Commissioners regarding the corporation tax liability of a Housing Association; and an appeal before the VAT & Duties Tribunal for compound interest on behalf of motor dealerships.

Involvement in the following quasi-criminal matters relating to tax fraud: drafting and submitting a suspicious activities report to the Serious Organised Crime Agency ("SOCA") and liaising with SOCA to obtain consent for the client to enter into a number of transactions; advising a client in relation to corrupt payments and clearance obligations under Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, responding to a production order pursuant to Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and claiming the costs of complying with a production order from HMRC.

There is so much noise out there about WHO you should be 

What success SHOULD look like

And how you are meant to live your life 

But if what you created meets the ideals of others and leaves YOU feeling cold, then at some point something has to give 

For me it was a hefty dose of burnout in 2018 that made me sit up and pay attention to what I really wanted from my life 

The promise I made to myself at that time, that I would never feel that bad again, took me down a rabbit hole that I was not expecting!

But am so glad I did

Alongside an ICF diploma in transformational coaching practice and being accredited at PCC level, I’ve also studied in Positive Intelligence and have a certification in trauma, nervous system, somatic and internal family systems therapy work

I understand how nutrition and supplements can support our wellbeing and have attained both a deep and broad appreciation of everything that is required for us to be truly healthy in our lives (emotionally, mentally & physically)

This feeds into everything I do - both in how I take care of ME and the work I do with others 

What kind of coach am I? I don’t really fit into a box to be honest

Many come to me for career coaching or business coaching or because they are burnt out and looking for help to get out of it

They inevitably get what they came for and then so much more as we dig into and resolve the stuff that is negatively impacting one or more areas of their health

You may change your job, leave a relationship, start a business - or you may do none of that. You may just rediscover who you are, what you love and be reminded of how worthy and deserving you are of being happy (an under rated but worthwhile achievement)

What you get depends on what you want and where life leads you as we work together

What I guarantee is I will be by your side helping you as you make the decisions that will allow you to do things your way, on your terms and to live a life that feels like YOURS - not the one you got told you “should” want
