Developed a system-wide communications & engagement strategy for the Whipps Cross Redevelopment Programme – which is a pathfinder in the Government’s New Hospitals Programme.

Worked collaboratively with the redevelopment programme team, staff across Barts Health NHS Trust, local health and social care partners, national partners and a range of stakeholders including patients and the public.

Communicated and engaged proactively with a wide range of local stakeholders; planned and delivered public events to raise awareness and understanding of the programme and bring in the ‘lesser heard from’ voices.

Head of Communications & Engagement - Whipps Cross Hospital Redevelopment

Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy

I managed the creation and strategic delivery of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy's (SC) global marketing campaigns for Qatar 2022. The SC is the organisation within the Qatar government whose mission is to promote the host country and successfully deliver all infrastructure and operations required for a historic FIFA World Cup 2022™.

I was responsible for planning and delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns and communications (digital & traditional mediums) that promote the host country of Qatar. I managed live marketing activities, public relations, media and social media, external agencies, events, films, photography, English content, digital experience, stadium launches, sponsorship and branding, government reporting and KPI reporting in accordance with the SC’s strategic programme direction. I led the Content Marketing team to deliver on the development goals that will create a lasting legacy for Qatar and the Middle East.

I was also involved in organising marketing content and campaigns for the new stadium inaugurations, opening ceremonies and football competitions held in Qatar prior to the FIFA World Cup™ (CAF Supercup, Amir Cup, Arabian Gulf Cup, FIFA Club World Cup™ and the Qatar Airways International Tournament*). Marketing campaigns to promote Qatar abroad at such events as Copa América, UEFA Euro 2020* and Tokyo Olympics* were also in my remit.

Additional work for the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management was undertaken during the pandemic.

Senior Broadcast Journalist - Social News

Team leader for the BBC's internal news agency. Our purpose is to provide all the BBC's news outlets with the latest copy, video and audio. The team obtains material from multiple sources, verifies and evaluates its editorial importance before sharing it with the news outlets. My main role was as the Chief Picture Producer for both domestic and world news outlets. It required swift acquisition and craft editing of content to get the new images on-air quickly. In terms of video, it is a fiercely fought game of beating other news broadcasters to the latest and most interesting pictures. The process requires decisive editorial judgement on my part. My deadlines were usually only seconds away. My role was to coordinate the team and liaise with the on-air editors and directors. Guiding senior management on appropriate use of media and formulating new broadcasting protocols. Training junior colleagues in news production, ethics, law, content promotion and editing. Being able to drop everything and change gear immediately for a breaking news story.

Senior Broadcast Journalist

Working for the BBC News Channel as a Broadcast Journalist providing news coverage for the 24hr digital station and the main bulletins on BBC One. The role saw me taking charge of multiple stories, many of them quickly changing, throughout the day. I was tasked with sourcing and verifying the latest information and marrying it with the best pictures available. While also arranging interesting guests to help us inform and educate our audience. Producing news packages and shareable web content.
My duties included: producing video packages, writing and sub editing scripts, writing the headline sequences, generating breaking news copy, organising guests and contributors, planning live events and outside broadcasts, writing detailed briefs on the stories for the presenters and correspondents, creating on-screen graphics and coordinating news teams in the field and in the newsroom.
The work meant I frequently dealt with a wide cross section of the UK population from the movers and shakers of big business to government ministers, world leaders, media organisations, charities, think-tanks and the general public.
Breaking news stories is where I am at my most proficient. I'm able to manage the on air teams calmly and with clear and decisive instruction. Provide detailed analysis of complicated world events in both video and text form. Being mindful of the BBC public service remit of unbiased reporting and to inform, educate and entertain. I am a performing comedy improviser, generating ideas and communicating them succinctly to a live audience. I produce Crime Scene Improvisation who perform across Europe. I also rock climb and coach others on solving problems and improving their physical & mental health through climbing.
