- Hosted the ‘Design for Voice’ workshop as part of Leeds Digital Festival 2019.

- Implemented Lean UX methodologies as part of the discovery and product design process.
- Established fortnightly user research as standard.
- Persuaded the business to install a £30,000 user research lab.
- Led a team of experience designers.

Produced HTML/CSS and Flash content for the Rollercoaster (kids) section of the site. Projects included actionscripting for Cartoon games and creating a media player in Flash.

Responsible for the design of all on and offline media, including website, company logo and business cards. Acted as usability consultant for the company’s software development team, advising on UI and user experience issues.

My work spans diverse challenges and customers. I’ve built and led design / research teams at Sky Bet and Goal, and in my 23 years in this industry I’ve worked with Orange, NHS, EE, ABC and some pretty cool start-ups (that will soon burst on the scene).

Having qualified as a business coach and mentor, I set up Be The Best You In Business and for more than four years I've been working with creative business owners to turn around their thinking and approach to running their businesses for growth.

I have made almost all the mistakes you can make in running a business. And as a creative small business owner myself, I understand the unique mistakes that creatives can make in running and growing a business.

I’ve had what you might call ‘a portfolio career’.  I’ve worked with corporates, agencies and for myself.  I’ve been successful in many things from marketing and communications and employee engagement to garden design – I’ve even been an adventure holiday tour leader - before becoming a business coach and mentor.

Most significant though for what I do today, is my experience running my garden design business. Having requalified as a garden designer, I just wanted to design and create amazing gardens for my clients. But on top of this I had to develop and run a business, and this was very different to being a freelancer, let alone an employee.

This was a whole other thing...

I’ve also lived the misery of feeling long-term overwhelm and then burning out. I know the cost and, having closed my garden design business after seven years, I have learned much about best practise and solutions to the issues I faced then, as well as issues we continue to face in this challenging economic climate.
