I didn’t run for 36 years because of one sentence said to me when I was 9. One “expert” opinion… that became my identity.

The lane I was told to stay in:
“Stay off the road.”
“Don’t run.”
“You’ll probably need plastic knees one day.”

So I listened.

And without realising it, I carried that advice like a life sentence.

Fast forward to 2025.
I challenged the diagnosis I’d been living under.

Turns out… it was a misdiagnosis.

So for 36 years, I was walking under a cloud for no reason.
That was yesterday.

And you can’t control yesterday.

You can’t control tomorrow.
You can only control now.
So I’m taking it back.

About four months ago, Stephan Weyers suggested I do an Ironman in August 2026 with him and the Wingman crew in Vichy, France.

I genuinely thought he was mad.
(If you know him… he is. In the best way.)

My biggest blocker wasn’t time.
Or fitness.
Or even the distance.

It was the fear of failing at something I’d 
already decided “wasn’t me.”

Yesterday’s run: just shy of 10km.
Not clean.
Not pretty.

Sets.

After lap 1, I wanted to stop.
Then the voices showed up…

Lap 2: Flip - “I was at the top, I let myself go, but I came back… so can you.” So I kept moving.

Lap 3: my daughter Tayla - “Dad, challenge yourself like you challenge me. You can do it.” So I kept moving.

Lap 4: Stephan - “You’ve come this far. Why quit now? It’ll hurt for a short time… but you’ll be stronger for a long time.” So I kept moving.

Lap 5: it was just me vs me:
“It’s your time to claim it all back.”
“The end of this lap is just the start of the next.”

Did it hurt? Absolutely. But I finished.
And I’ll get stronger.

Here’s the business lesson I can’t ignore 
(because it’s part of my journey now):

We don’t just rise to our goals.
We fall to our beliefs.

And the beliefs you run with are often made of… words.

So this year is different for me.
No more borrowed limits.
No more old labels.
No more “that’s not for me.”

We’re back. And we’re back with a bang. For the last six weeks, every time I saw Lion’s Head in the distance, I felt it.

That pull. That yearning to get back on the mountain… and back on the mountain with incredible humans.

Today we freakin did it.

Perfect weather.
Ridiculous views.

And the kind of conversations that remind you: you’re not crazy for wanting more from this year.

I’ll say this, there’s an alignment in the air.

Not the loud “new year, new me” stuff.

The quieter, more dangerous kind… where people are moving with intent.

Almost everyone I spoke to carried the same energy:

“This year is going to be one we talk about for a long time.”

And honestly… it validated what I’ve been feeling too.

My cup is overflowing - but not from hype.
From being around people who are building, adapting, innovating… and doing it with their feet on the ground.

Even better?

That low-grade stress and anxiety I’ve been carrying into this year… started to dissolve.

Not because the year is suddenly easy. But because the energy you borrow from the right rooms is real.

Also: Dexter is officially back.

First time in 6-7 weeks 😏

And I’m not joking… we’re walking and a random group goes:

“Is that Dexter?!” I think we also have a new fan in Renier Lombard too haha 

At this point, I think he’s more famous than the rest of us combined. Un/official mascot energy.

LinkedIn: the question isn’t “why now?”
It’s “why change?. Let me explain why 👇

Posting more than once a day can increase your weekly reach. Sure... that part is true.

But it’s also the fastest way to quietly kill your authority in 2026. Because LinkedIn isn’t rewarding volume anymore.

It’s rewarding one clear signal over time.
And you (most humans) are doing the opposite.

You’re posting:
a sales tip at 9 am
an AI hot take at 1 pm
a founder story at 6 pm

Different topics.
Different audiences.
Different freakin clusters.

Because of that, the algorithm will do what it’s built to do: reset your relevance signal every time you switch lanes.

When you rapid-fire different topics, you end up:
↳ training your audience to ignore half your posts
↳ losing the carry from one post to the next
↳ resetting momentum before it compounds

The result?
Higher total impressions.
Lower perceived expertise.
Lower compounding reach.

Lekker translation: 
you get “seen” more… but you get trusted less.

And in 2026, LinkedIn is a Trust Economy.

Trust = distribution.
Trust = replies.
Trust = pipeline.

If you don’t change this now, opportunities don’t “slowly fade.” They get re-routed to the person who looks like the clearest answer to one problem.

It's that simple.

So do me a favour this week:
Stop chasing daily frequency
Aim for 3-5 posts/week in the same problem space.
Consistency beats chaos.
Spend 2-3× more time engaging than creating

Let me repeat that: 
Spend 2-3× more time engaging than creating

For every 30 minutes writing, spend 60 minutes in real conversations. Comments + DMs are the trust engine now.

Optimise for saves, not likes. Please.
Likes are applause. Meh.
Saves are intent. Yes.

Write like you’re building a reference library for buyers.

Because here’s the real shift: LinkedIn is being rebuilt to filter noise and route attention to problem-solving humans.

Yes, I'm talking to you.

And increasingly, that routing won’t even be decided by people scrolling… it’ll be decided by systems matching.

So pick your lane:
One problem. One audience. One signal.

Repeat it until the market can describe you in one sentence.

Because in 2026, the generalists get scrolled.

The specialists get routed.

How I’m posting on LinkedIn in 2026 (without becoming annoying).

Because for years we’ve all been out here… taking posting advice from people we don’t know… based on vibes and screenshots.

And then wondering why LinkedIn feels like a loud shopping mall. 

But the good news, my lovely humans: no more.

I’m choosing a cadence that gives me the 
one thing most people ignore: bandwidth.

Bandwidth to build relationships.
Relationships that turn into business.
(Imagine that. LinkedIn… doing LinkedIn things.)

So here’s how I post, and how you should too:

1) I follow the “12-week rule”

I don’t chase daily motivation.
I pick a cadence I can sustain for 12 weeks.

Minimum effective dose: 2 posts/week
Strong cadence: 3 posts/week

High-output: 4-5/week only if I have real signal 
(not recycled noise)

2) I rotate formats so I don’t bore people (or myself)

My weekly mix:
One POV post (what I believe + why)
One practical post (framework / steps / template)

If I do a 3rd:
One story (lesson + takeaway)

3) I don’t post back-to-back on the same topic

No clustering. No “Part 7 of 19.”

I give ideas breathing room so 
people can actually remember me.

4) My real “growth hack” is comments

Posting is the receipt.
Relationships are made in the comment section + DMs.

So my actual system is:
 2-3 posts/week + 15-30 mins/day of intentional comments.

That’s it. That’s the play.

I mean it's not that hard right...

So the question, why are you not doing it? 

And I'm just glad Nick Dreyer ain't getting no rash ,that would be a terrible way to start the year, don't you think Gyanda Sachdeva 🤣

Stop waiting for the algorithm to pick you.
I’m talking to myself here too:

Shut up. Suit up. Show up.

Not as cheesy slogans. As the actual requirements for building a business that lasts in 2026.

1) Shut up (stop the tactics loop)
“Shut up” doesn’t mean be quiet forever.

It means stop stalling.

Stop waiting for perfect clarity before you move.
You know that loop… where every two weeks you:
tweak your niche
rewrite your bio
download a new DM script
convince yourself this one is the missing piece

But the real reason you’re doing it?
Because it’s safer than being seen.

And it’s safer than being ignored.

Meanwhile, there are people out there right now drowning in trash leads and broken systems… and they need someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

So yeah - less whining about reach. Less performing for permission.

If you’re not being seen, it’s usually not because LinkedIn hates you.
It’s because your signal is too broad to be recognised.

2) Suit up (build the Trust OS)
“Suit up” is the unsexy part.

It’s the homework.
It’s building the system that makes trust inevitable - not accidental.

It means:
learning the language your market already uses, so you sound like one of them (not like a consultant doing a drive-by)

turning your profile into a 24/7 trust asset… not a CV with a few buzzwords

tightening your offer so the path from “who’s this?” to “let’s chat” isn’t weird or confusing

Because don’t expect the market to give you a “yes”…
if you haven’t built something structured enough to hold it.

3) Show up (identity match)
And “show up” doesn’t mean showing off.

In an AI-flooded feed, showing off is just noise.

Showing up in 2026 is something else:
It’s being the version of you that doesn’t need to perform confidence while quietly panicking inside.

It’s stepping into the feed with a proof-first mindset.
Not hype. Not hot takes for attention.

Just the truth:
what you did
why you did it
what happened
what it means

Because when you can describe your client’s world better than they can…
you don’t need to persuade.
You create resonance.

And resonance is what wins now.

What I'm doing...

I’m updating the system I use with clients using what LinkedIn says it rewards - and you should probably update yours too.

Not “post more.”
Post smarter.

Post like a practitioner, not a publisher.

Because LinkedIn has been consistent about a few things:

- Relevance beats volume
- Consistency builds memory
- Lived experience beats generic advice
- Conversation is the compounding mechanism

Train the feed… and the feed trains you back.

Want LinkedIn to work for you this year? 
Here’s the system...

Think in 3 content assets:

1) What’s changing
News, trends, shifts… plus your perspective.
“Here’s what’s happening - and what it means.”

2) What’s true
Principles, frameworks, how-tos, explanations.
“Here’s the playbook.”

3) What it cost you to learn
Mistakes, moments, decisions, lessons.
“Here’s what I paid to learn so you don’t have to.”

Most humans here only follow through with No. 2

And then wonder why they blend in.
Why they get polite likes but no recognition.
Why their content lives in a world of… beige.

The leaders who win here combine all 3 because it signals:
Relevance. Credibility. Humanity.

Run a weekly loop (simple, sustainable, recognisable)

Pick one lane you want to be known for, then do this:
Monday post: what’s changing
Wednesday post: what’s true
Friyay post: what it cost you to learn

That’s how you build memory.
And memory is what turns views into inbound.

AI is here. We’re not avoiding it.
But don’t use AI to be you.
That's just unnecessary.

Use AI to brainstorm angles, stress-test your take, and tighten your wording.
Your lived experience is still the unfair advantage.

So stop posting to “get views.”
Start posting to build recognition.

Simples right. 

Now, let's get a little honest with ourselves here... which one do you post the least: what’s changing / what’s true / what it cost you to learn?

Most good decisions that moved my life forward felt uncomfortable at the time.

Like the kinda uncomfortable we all get when we gotta dance on stage…

*gulp*

✅ Quitting a job I loved.
✅ Starting in an industry I knew nothing about.
✅ Deciding to join Flint last year.

None of it felt safe.

They were all risks.

(Now my beautiful kids are doing the same, dancing their way through the real world!)

Because things that scare you often change you.

And avoiding them has a bigger cost.

I started broking in 2015, and I had no idea what I was doing.

So I did the only sensible thing I knew, and became a student.

I found the best brokers in the biz, and watched and studied how the existed.

I really didn’t have any experience.

But I had a healthy fear of being exposed,

And a lot of time. 

Clients can tell when you know things.

And more importantly they can tell when you don’t

You don’t need years. You need obsession.

That’s just how you get better.

Chasing outcomes is easy.

Revenue. Growth. Milestones.

All the things you can put in a slide deck, and feel good about for maybe 5 minutes. 😭

But they’re all just results.

What really matter though, is how everyone grows while you’re achieving those.

Learning together, figuring out problems, making huge mistakes, fixing them, and pretending we knew the answers all along, are the real results.

The numbers will move around.

They always do.

But watching a group of people get better together...

More confident, more capable, more in sync…

That feeling you get from seeing that, never changes.

And that’s what makes building a team worth it.

People talk a lot about habits, strategy, and mindset.

My biggest and best performance hack?

Going home.

Dancing like crazy with my girls.

Spinning around our living room for hours.

Getting absolutely humbled by tiny humans with better rhythm than me.

Being actually present.

When home is good, work gets easier.

Decisions are clearer.

Pressure doesn’t stick the same way.

Turns out joy is a pretty solid productivity tool.

Big goals are easier to chase when you’ve got something real to come home to.

That’s where my energy comes from, and it's truly incredible. 🤪

I used to think being taken seriously meant acting serious.

Polished, composed, and “all under control.”

But that isn’t me.

(My current idol is Bandit from Bluey...)

Turns out Mr. Serious Face version of me isn't very good.

So i stopped trying.

I joke more, and laugh at myself, and play at work regularly.

And weirdly…everything becomes simpler.

I learn faster now.

Bad days don’t stick as long, if at all.

And work feels lighter, even when it’s hard.

Highly recommend trying 'playing' more, and being 'Mr Serious' less.

Trying to do everything yourself is the fastest way to stay small.

If you're doing all of the below ⬇️

✅ Processing. 
✅ Post-settlement. 
✅ Customer management.

You are the wearer of all hats...and likely the master of none.

What all this does is pull you away from where you create real value.

Your value isn't in spreadsheets & servicing calcs...

(and boy...do i love a pretty spreadsheet!)

Brokers value is in lead generation, speaking directly to clients & partners, and building momentum.

Everything else drains time away from this.

That’s what 'thinking bigger' actually looks like.

If you want to grow fast, stop trying to do everything yourself.

Build a team that frees you to focus on what you do best.

If people can’t see you online, you don’t exist at all.

Most trust is built online now.

So early on, I decided I had to be myself.

Not louder.
Not flashier.

Just the daggy dad that is me.

Most people copy each other.

That’s why they blend in.

But the only thing no-one can copy, is how you think.

That’s the brand.

How do you communicate with 120 people across 4 countries?

You don’t overthink it.

I sat in my office.
Hit record.
Talked.

Had a thumbnail made, on the spot.
And sent it.
All in 30 minutes.

No script.
No production.
No drama.

Just a simple and silly message to kick off the year and get everyone aligned.

Sometimes the best way to lead a big team…is to keep things small, human, low-stakes, and fun.

One thing I didn’t expect after a year of building businesses

Almost everyone starts with making money as the goal

That’s important, it’s how businesses stay alive, thrive and grow.  

But…

That’s not where the fun lives.

The stories you collect, the people you meet and the experiences you live while building…

Living life knowing i’m having a real crack at the biggest boldest version of myself…and won’t be dying wondering or living ‘what ifs’

That’s what all the old wise men who claim the journey is better than the destination mean…

Earlier in my career, I said yes to way too much.

Not because it was smart, but because it felt productive.

I had meetings everyday and everywhere, and lots of chaotic energy, (which I now save for when I’m at home with my girls.)

It took me a while to realise that I was just tired…not effective.

Learning to say no wasn’t about being difficult.

It was learning about being honest with myself and what actually mattered.

Once I started protecting my time, the work just got better.

Not instantly, but enough to notice.

Turns out ‘no’ isn’t rude.

It’s just clear.

And that clarity makes life a lot easier.

Early on, I spent too much time getting ready for 'perfect' to knock on my door.

Biggest rookie move…

Waiting for the perfect investment property? That one costs a fortune.

Some people wait years…and pay a lot more

But you soon realise there’s a great deal out there every single day.

And that 99% of the performance comes from actually executing on one of them. 

So what did I do?
✅ I started showing up instead.
✅ Just bought tha thing, decided on it and moved forward.  

You get better by doing.

Not by thinking, or planning, or staring at the ceiling at 2am endlessly.

The ones who win, aren’t the most polished, or put together.

They act like Nike, they just do it 😄

This is why interest rates are still under pressure.

The Jan 28 CPI came in hotter than the RBA would like, but the details matter.

Goods inflation has cooled.

You can see it rolling over clearly on this chart.

Services inflation hasn’t.

And that’s the problem.

Services = rent, insurance, healthcare, wages.

The stuff that doesn’t come down quickly.

So even though headline CPI looks better than last year, the RBA can’t relax yet.

As long as services inflation stays elevated, rates stay higher for longer.

The CPI print didn’t open the door to cuts.

If anything, it keeps the door firmly shut.

That’s the takeaway.

A few weeks ago, I had dinner with one of the most successful mortgage brokers in the country.

We ended up talking about what actually separates the best from everyone else.

It wasn’t strategy.

It was speed.

In his business, when a lead comes in and no-one calls within five minutes, it’s an issue.

Harsh? Maybe

But wrong? Not really.

If someone reaches out, that’s when they want to talk.

Just like when my girls ask me to play, they want me to play now. Not in 5 minutes or an hour.

When I was starting out, I answered the phone wherever I was.

24/7 was the motto

(No one actually calls at 2am)

You can’t do that forever, and you shouldn't.

But early on, it makes the difference.

Deals don’t just fall over because of strategy. They fall over because someone was slow.

Simple lesson.

Organic content gets you seen.

People start to recognise you, hear your voice, and trust you.

That’s the real challenge.

Once that’s working, paid ads just speed things up.

I’ve always looked at it pretty simply - ads can’t replace your brand.

But they do turn the volume up.

(Like me in the car when Taylor Swift starts playing.)

The mistake is running them up too early.

Or chasing the noise, instead of the right people.

When your message is clear, and your process actually works, ads feel like acceleration instead of chaos.

Brand first. 

Fuel later.
