Compagnie Financière Tradition

As the Group IT Auditor for Compagnie Financière Tradition, one of the world's largest interdealer brokers in OTC financial and commodity-related products, I played a pivotal role in establishing and maintaining a strong IT audit and risk management framework for the organization. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Audit and Compliance, my role required a high level of seniority, comprehensive experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
* Developing and implementing risk-based IT audit strategies and plans for the entire Tradition Group, consisting of approximately 90 financial companies and subsidiaries, which involved evaluating the effectiveness of IT controls and identifying opportunities for improvement.
* Performing integrated and IT audits, as well as special assignments in major financial centers, including Paris, London, New York, and other key offices of the Tradition Group, focusing on key areas such as information security, data privacy, and IT governance.
* Collaborating with non-IT audit teams, providing insights and expertise in IT-related risks and controls, and contributing to the overall improvement of the organization's risk management and compliance posture.
* Identifying emerging technology risks and ensuring that the IT audit strategy remained responsive to the evolving risk landscape.
* Communicating audit findings and recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders, ensuring that remediation actions were properly tracked and effectively implemented.

My experience in managing IT audit processes and working within a highly regulated industry provides me with a strong foundation in risk management, compliance, and information security. My story begins as an escalation engineer at Symantec, solving cybersecurity problems one crisis at a time. Those early days taught me something invaluable: the gap between what security technology promises and what businesses actually need is often vast. While my colleagues focused on the technical elegance of solutions, I found myself drawn to understanding why certain approaches worked for some organizations but failed for others.

Over nearly two decades working with industry giants—McAfee, TrendMicro, Palo Alto Networks—I gained an insider’s perspective on both the immense capabilities and inherent limitations of cybersecurity technology. I watched countless organizations struggle to implement security programs that either left them vulnerable or paralyzed their ability to innovate and grow. This tension between security and business agility became the defining challenge I knew I had to solve.

The turning point came during my Master’s program at Trinity College Dublin, where I studied Management of Information Systems. For the first time, I saw cybersecurity not just as a technical discipline, but as a business enabler. My subsequent entrepreneurship studies at UCD Smurfit crystallized a vision: what if cybersecurity could become a competitive advantage rather than a necessary burden?

In 2023, I made the leap from vendor partnerships to direct consulting, founding BARE Cybersecurity with a mission that reflects everything I’d learned: helping small businesses and startups be more resilient tomorrow than they are today. But this wasn’t just about building another consulting firm—it was about proving that enterprise-grade security could be accessible, practical, and growth-enabling for organizations that couldn’t afford to choose between security and innovation.

My aspiration extends far beyond building a successful consultancy. I envision a fundamental transformation in how European startups and growing businesses approach cybersecurity—moving from viewing it as a compliance checkbox or necessary evil to embracing it as a strategic differentiator that enables faster growth, stronger partnerships, and greater investor confidence.
