Hi - let me introduce myself. 

I am Phil - a Performance Coach working primarily with revenue leaders & salespeople. 

My mission is to decode Performance Psychology - and teach it to leaders, so they can get the most from their people. 

I worked in sales for 12 years, and have since built a successful coaching business, where I teach the fundamentals of Performance Psychology, and work with revenue leaders to build out high performing teams.

My ambition is to make coaching part of the culture of organisational life. Where people do jobs that are aligned to their core values, and to create environments where people grow personally & professionally EVERYDAY. 

I have studied human psychology & neuroscience as part of my coaching qualification - and adp[t 


I am trained in Performance Psychology, I also adopt many practices from the wellness space and eastern philosophy - which means my clients don't just get great results - they learn how to optimise mind+body, so they reduce stress, build emotional resilience, and generally feel great.

Conference networking is built on alcohol. So I interviewed a commercial director who went dry.

His script for telling clients without killing the vibe?
1) Announce the exit time early: "Out at 10pm."
2) Share the honest why: Health, clarity. It builds trust, not suspicion.
3) Use early breakfast meetings to close deals while competitors nurse hangovers.

I had breakfast with him last Wednesday.

My 10-year-old wanted to sit on my lap yesterday.

But I was catching up after the Christmas holiday. We have this Inner Circle launch. Prep for speaking and meeting people at ICE. Partnerships that need closing off.

Did a panel on scaling and exiting today with James Prosser, Alex Windsor, and Tom Galanis. 

Three things that stuck:

1. A lot of it happens by accident. You can't figure it out until you actually run into it. Planning only gets you so far.

2. You should not chase every opportunity. Focus beats scale. Decide your path, then protect it.

3. We compare ourselves to highlight reels
Sets unrealistic expectations. Makes you think everyone else has it figured out when they don't.

"Are you going through all my traumatic experiences?"

45 minutes into recording Elen Barber stopped me.

Tom Galanis said it a well a few weeks ago:

We go to conferences and see people on stage talking about how awesome everything is.

That's the mask everyone shows.

It sets a bar you can't reach. Because it's not real.

100M fines in your first month as CMO. Four rounds of layoffs where you don't know who survives. Career breaks that become the most stressful time of your life.

Those challenges are our stepping stones.
The things that make us the leaders we are today.

That's where the actual lessons are.

You’re in the board meeting. They’re debating your Q1 strategy.

Three board members have three different opinions. All confident. All contradictory.

You nod. Take notes. Say you’ll “review and come back with a recommendation.”

You leave the room and think: “I have no fucking idea which direction is right. But I can’t tell them that.”

Then you go back to your desk and make the call alone.

This is the weight of seniority no one warns you about: The higher you go, the more decisions you make in isolation.

Your team can’t help - they need you to be certain.
Your board can’t help - they need you to sort out their chaos.
Your partner can’t help - they don’t understand the context.

So you decide alone. And hope you’re right.

If that’s been your last 90 days, you don’t have a confidence problem. You have a peer problem.

We had a sunset yacht trip planned for Sunday. 

But...

13°C, rain, choppy winds.

One member said their last boat trip ended with them vomiting over the side in front of colleagues and clients. Not ideal.

So we killed the boat trip this morning.
Going axe throwing instead.
Followed by Argentinian steak and great wine.

Everyone's already excited in the group chat.
One's actually thinking of bringing their axes... 

Not sure what that is. 😂 

Can't wait to see everyone in barca.

You have someone on your team who needs to go. 
You've known for 4 months. Maybe 6.

You've had "the conversation." Set expectations. Offered support.
Nothing's changed.

But you keep delaying because:

"Maybe another quarter will show improvement"
"Firing them now would hurt team morale"
"I don't want to be the bad guy"

The delay doesn't protect team morale. It destroys it.

Your high performers don't need you to be nice. They need you to be decisive.

But you can't make the call because you're making it alone. No peer to say: "You're not being harsh at month 4. You're being responsible. Here's what happens if you wait until month 10."

If you've been sitting on a people decision for 3+ months, you don't have a performance management problem. You have an isolation problem.
