Spent the weekend in Central Alberta, Lacombe, Alix, Red Deer, for my son’s hockey tournament.
Early mornings. Cold arenas. Wet (stinking) gloves in the car (And yes, we brought the trophy home)

In nearby smaller communities, total purpose-built rentals can be under 100 units
At first glance, you’d think: “Rentals don’t really matter here.”
But it’s the opposite.

Because when supply is this tight,  life decisions start driving #housing decisions.

One parent said it perfectly between games:
“If your kid has practice 4–5 times a week… you don’t live far. You just can’t.”

That’s it. No spreadsheet. No market report. Just real life.

I watched a brilliant speaker recently do what most people still do:

- 40 minutes of slides
- 0 interaction
- 1 “any questions?” at the end
- then a rushed CTA

The audience clapped.

 And then… nothing happened.

- What have I lived that gives this message credibility?

“What simple structure can they repeat after I leave the room?”

People don’t just want more information.

They want language for a problem they’ve felt for a while but haven’t known how to describe.

Give them that, and they lean in.

A simple lens:
Problem — what are they struggling with?
Pattern — what are they missing?
Path — what framework helps them move forward?

That’s how you stop sounding generic.
And start becoming the person known for the idea.

Stop building slides. Start building IP.

That’s the moat.

The biggest lie in personal branding right now? More AI content = more authority.

It doesn’t.

Most of it just creates more of the same.

And the more the feed gets flooded with polished, emotionally flat content, the more obvious one truth becomes:

People are not starving for content.
They’re starving for signal.

For conviction.
For pattern recognition.
For a perspective that feels lived, not assembled.

That’s why your human story matters more now, not less.

Not because you need to overshare.

 Once a week: send a 60–90 sec clip, a short post, or a “one-slide insight.”
 You’re not “checking in.”
 You’re staying top of mind with proof.

5) Close with options (reduce friction)
Two talk titles + 3 date windows.
Make it easy to say yes.
Wish-lists don’t book stages.
Systems do.

Trust is lower.
And generic lead gen is getting easier to ignore.

So yes, small stages can produce bigger returns.

Because when the room is right, the conversation gets better.
And when the conversation gets better, business gets easier.

Micro events. Macro results.

A lot of companies don’t need another campaign.
They need a better room.

A planner was ready to book the speaker.
Then the process killed the deal.

Not the talk.
Not the fee.

Too many back-and-forth emails.

Make it easy for someone to say yes while the energy is still there.

Because when timelines shrink, complexity costs you.

A lot of speakers do not have a demand problem.
They have a friction problem.
