Most leaders ask the wrong question:
❌ “Should I be direct or indirect?”

But this one is much better:
 ✅ “What does this situation require?”

I’ve worked with leaders who pride themselves on being “always direct.” But “always” direct usually means not regulated, not skilled.

Tum tu du duuu.

Directness is a tool. Used well, it creates clarity, trust, and a safe environment. But when you use it poorly, it can put people down.

So, most leaders whom you liked working with probably saw directness as a choice.

What do you choose?
- Clarity or comfort?
- Safety or speed?
- Guidance or autonomy?

It depends...

Is your team really communicating… or just surviving in silence?

Working in teams should be a joy, right? 

But how often do you sit through meetings where no one speaks, promises get broken, and blame is tossed around like a hot potato?

These are the silent killers of trust, and without trust, collaboration, engagement, and results all take a nosedive. 

Dead silence, overpromising, finger-pointing, avoiding conflicts, struggling with feedback, and a lack of clarity are the red flags every leader should notice.

What to do better?

Focus on building trust through communication:
1. Break the silence: invite opinions, ask questions, and involve everyone.
2. Deliver on promises or communicate changes proactively.
3. Encourage ownership instead of blame. Start with yourself. 
4. Face conflicts openly, don’t sweep them under the rug. Moderate them.
5. Make feedback safe, frequent, and constructive.

Team silence is bad. Don't mistake it for comfort.

Being indirect is often misunderstood.

It’s not manipulation.
It’s not avoidance.
It’s strategic patience.

Is it? Direct communication is essential when:
- expectations are unclear
- performance issues repeat
- time, safety, or accountability is at stake

But directness can block learning when:
- emotions are high
- trust is fragile
- people need ownership, not instructions

Telling someone what they did wrong often triggers shame.

Helping them see it themselves builds capability.

Leaders know how to:
- ask instead of tell
- explore patterns instead of judging
- reflect without forcing agreement

Too good to be true? Yes, it is since growth needs space, not pressure.

Reflect on Your Priorities

What is right for you?

Release your frustrations, tiredness, or boredom. Where are you now?

What are you chasing right now? Is it:
- A fancy job title that earns you respect and helps you climb the ladder up?
- Tight deadlines and work on weekends, as you cannot manage?
- Working while you are battling illness?
- Getting the partner of your dreams?
- Starting your own business?
- A higher salary?

You are in a race. You picked it up some time ago. Is it still valid? Or are you doing it out of routine?

When you lose sight of your dreams, it goes beyond the absurd. They are there somewhere. But are they still top of mind?

Days are passing. You are hustling around.

Do not expect changing your job to save you from your misery. 

It can. But it does not have to. The grass is not greener elsewhere.

So, if you struggle with:
- Finding a purpose you want to follow
- Being a good partner/family member
- Getting the next promotion
- Making your business run
- Being a good boss

Refuse to accept such struggles and stand up for yourself because you have what it takes.

You have you.

You can improve in any area you choose. Keep your mind fresh and hydrated, and think about your priorities.
