Burnout is not a badge of honor. 

It's the hidden cost of your achievement. 
And too many leaders are paying it in silence.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴, 
"𝗠𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁?"

Sometimes that belief is consciously created. 
Sometimes it's quietly absorbed over the years. 
Either way, it's not serving us.

Just this week, three different people shared with me their personal experience about how, on an ordinary workday, their bodies simply shut down. 
They passed out.
They couldn't perform basic day-to-day functions. 
And they thought it was just them.

That's not strength. That's the body issuing a final warning!
And you are lucky to get that last warning, some don't.

I too denied burnout for far too long. 
I lived in a "do-it-all" mindset in every area of life. 
Always giving.

Never pausing long enough to ask myself, "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥?"
Once I had healed myself through this, I took this learning into a practical teaching moment.

Last year, around this time, I facilitated an in-person workshop called 
"𝗣𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲, 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘁” for my community.

The most powerful moment came in the very first exercise.

Each participant held a snow globe in their hand. 
They were asked to wait until every single flake settled before introducing themselves.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲. 𝗔𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀.
𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱:

How deeply conditioned we are to rush. 
To perform. 
To move before we're actually ready.

Awareness arrived before anyone spoke.

Today, just knowing what to do is no longer enough. 

We must move from awareness into action.

Stress and burnout don't make us better at our jobs. 
They make us weaker in health, leadership, and clarity.

Yet we continue to operate on our old programming:
• Slowing down is lazy
• Rest is optional
• Exhaustion is proof
Real leadership skill is knowing when to stop, rest, and reset!

It's time now for us to stop glorifying how we work 
and start understanding how we live!

Because if we miss this window, given the speed at which technology is moving, the cost won't just be personal; we risk losing humanity!

Burnout is not a badge of honor!

She walked into our session carrying something invisible.

But heavy.
A shield she had built years ago to protect herself. 

It had worked and kept her safe.

But now? It was keeping her small.

The Pattern:
- Every time fear crept in, she sees herself shrinking. 
- She goes in a shell secretly and cries. And then she goes out to face the world.
- That shell is armor she says, it’s there to protect her. 
- This is how she had trained her body to cope up. 

Now, this process was exhausting! 
And it was limiting who she was becoming.

Here's what we uncovered in our 1-1 coaching session together:
- She was caught between her mind (logical, protective, always calculating risk) and her heart (intuitive, trusting, deeply knowing).
- And she was always forcing herself to choose her mind. Every single time!

This is not a shock to me. 

Many women leaders are afraid to lead from their heart space.

Because our work culture says that’s a weakness. 

I used a reference of Brené Brown's framework on "armor" and named what was really happening:

This protection system of hers is now a limiting belief.

What once had kept her safe was now blocking her expansion.

She agreed.

✅And here’s how the shift began: 
We did some intentional belief work, and anchored three new truths for her :
→ I am safe
→ I no longer need a shell or armor
→ It is ALWAYS safe for me to lead with my heart

This isn’t just positive thinking. 
This is an identity-level transformation! 

And then the evidence showed up FAST:
1. Old schoolmate scenario: Someone from her past whose energy no longer aligned. Instead of over-explaining or second-guessing herself, she set a clear boundary. No shrinking. No defense. Just clarity.

2. Her daughter: The relationship that used to trigger fear and scripted talks? They are dancing together now. Connecting. Communicating with ease. 

Her natural warmth is opening doors at home AND at work.

✨And the ripple effect: People around her are responding differently — because SHE feels different.

✅ Here is the TRUTH:
- When YOU feel safe, the people around you feel it too.

This is what real coaching creates.

𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿. 𝗜 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁!

When my dad died in 2013, something whispered.
When my mom passed in 2021, it became a clear voice:
𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵. 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴.

But I stayed on the same treadmill I had been on for almost 30 years in financial services- successful, respected, safe… but slowly disconnecting from myself.

In 2023, my body made the choice I wouldn’t.
It shut down. That’s when I finally listened.
That’s when I leaped.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹: 
I recently came across 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘆’𝘀 "𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙇𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙞𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚", 𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦.  

It resonated so deeply with me at all levels. 

𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆:

1️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁:
I didn’t walk away from my career; I became someone it could no longer contain.

Today, I am a transformation coach, leadership facilitator, and grief specialist. 

My very first 2 clients were from Citibank and then others from the banking industry continue to connect. 

While I am evolving and creating new options, I consciously choose work aligned to my values and purpose! 

𝘔𝘪𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧.

Success now looks like time, space, nature, and the choice of where my energy goes.

2️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵:
Throughout my career, I was the go-to person for change management.

My first 20 years of career in corporate treasury, and the last 10 years in banking, were all about transformations - people, processes, and technology. 

I could see the big picture and get things done. My strength: building long-term, genuine relationships.

That's not just me saying, the 360 feedback spoke.

𝘔𝘪𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺- 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯, 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘦.

Less about performing, more about belonging.

3️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:
Loss cracked me open.
My ego knew how to work; it didn’t know how to grieve.
My body finally forced me to stop overriding my truth.

𝘔𝘪𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧.

And the quiet I once squeezed between meetings?
That’s where I find alignment with my authentic self now.

And I chase simple joys like seeing butterflies around me! 

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿...
That nudge in your chest or the signal from your body, you are not imagining it.

This week is 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸.

I bet a very high percentage of people don't know about it
Because it's one of those topics that are less talked about.

Grief is Universal. If you are living, you are grieving.

A reminder that grief doesn't just come through death.
It shows up in midlife, too - in the quiet, unspoken losses that reshape us.

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐂𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹:
• Losing a role or identity after years of work
• Colleagues leaving without warning
• Projects that collapse after months of effort
• Changes that erase what we built
• The future version of ourselves we thought we were becoming

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳:
• Relationships that shift or end
• Careers that plateau or break open
• Identities we have outgrown
• The realization that life isn't unfolding as we imagined

All these losses matter. And they need space.

𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰!

𝘛𝘸𝘰 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰, 𝘐 𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘧.
𝘐𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.
𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥—𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘳𝘶𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘪𝘵.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱:
• Grief doesn't follow stages
• Time alone doesn't heal
• Silence doesn't protect us
• Closure doesn't exist
• Grief doesn't disappear; 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴
𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁, 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲:
1. A grief integration program helping clients move through personal and professional loss
2. Two years of volunteering with children navigating grief with Good Grief, Inc.

This is what growth in grief really looks like.

Not moving past pain; moving through it.

Not forgetting, integrating.
Not alone; supported.

It’s Monday morning.
You’re getting ready for the day.

And the self-talk starts before you even notice it:
“I look exhausted.”
“I’m behind.”
“Why don’t I have it together?”

It’s background noise.
But that voice? It shapes everything.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹:
For years, you’ve lived with two versions of yourself:
The one having the thoughts
The other being judged by them.

𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁.
It’s the moment you stop living, split in half.
Stop performing on the outside while doubting everything on the inside.
Stop rejecting the parts of yourself that never needed fixing.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

𝗜𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝗶𝘀 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀.
𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘴.

𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧,
𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦.
𝘐𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶.
𝘐𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶.

𝗦𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁:
Instead of “What’s wrong with me?”
Ask, “What do I need today?”
Because the way you speak to yourself in the morning
is the way you show up everywhere else.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 “𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲” 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴?

Some of you read my posts and think:
“Midlife? That’s old. Not me.”
Others read them and feel seen.

So, today I am sharing some clarity on what Midlife really is.

Chip Conley defines midlife as roughly 35 𝘁𝗼 75.  Yes, 35. 

I was taken aback as I thought it started around 50s.

But when I sat with this information, it all made sense, much more sense - looking back at my parents’ story and mine.

If what I write resonates, you are likely in midlife. Or closer than you think.

I turn 55 in a few short months.

In the last 2 weeks of 2025, many people are writing the year off.
And I am doing the opposite.
I am using this time to pause, reflect, and choose where I want to go next.

Not from urgency.
But from a pure intention.
This is a skill I learned.

𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗜 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗼 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗴𝗲.
I am choosing a growth mindset.
Not about staying busy but liberating oneself.

→ So today, I offer a mindset 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁:
𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐨𝐬; 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐱.
𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁.

There is no manual, no roadmap.
So I am simply sharing what I am learning.
I have witnessed family, culture, and systems view aging as a loss.
I am choosing differently.

𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘦, 𝙈𝙞𝙙𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚.

Midlife isn't a crisis, it’s a reclamation! 

After a decade of leading teams in banking, I observed a pattern among senior professionals.

𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬: 
• Career
• Relationships
• Identity

𝐈𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 20𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 30𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡.
We get good at compartmentalising. 

• Fix one problem while ignoring the others. 
• Bad day at the office? Leave it there.
• Relationship tension? Deal with it at home.
• Identity questions? Save them for later.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 40𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 50𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞.

𝘓𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘐 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘦𝘥 𝘯𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘢 𝘥𝘰𝘻𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴!

The stress of leading through fast-evolving changes isn't just work stress. 
It is an identity shift.

The exhaustion of back-to-back stakeholder meetings isn't just career fatigue. It becomes relationship fatigue.

The thought "Is this all there is?" isn't about titles. 
It is about life itself.

𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬. 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬.
That's the convergence!

And here’s what I learned from 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘯é 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 about this moment: 
1. "Your armor is preventing you from growing into your gifts."
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢 𝘸𝘦'𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥? 
𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩. 
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘶𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥.

2. The unravelling is necessary, not failure.
Brown calls this "the moment the universe whispers that the performing and pretending must stop." 
It's not a breakdown, it's a breakthrough.

3. The hardest question isn't strategic; it's personal.
Who am I if I am not the VP, the Regional Director, the one holding everything together?

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
𝘖𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘹 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘴.

You start asking one integrated question:
𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 am 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘥, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺...?

And from there, you start rebuilding one integrated life.

“I can’t think clearly anymore. Every decision feels heavy.”

She was a senior leader - a high performer, well-respected.

On paper: successful. 
Inside: chaos.

Not burned out, but my assessment she was 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱.

Not everyone understands values or hasn't gained clarity.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬.
𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦.

They’re NOT your goals or traits that shine on your resume. 

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲’𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞.

𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 3-𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲:
1. Recall a moment you felt 𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘 — what value was honored? (1–3 words)
2. Recall a moment you felt 𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗗 — what value was violated? (1–3 words)
3. Circle your top 3 values — these are your non-negotiables for the next 90 days.

When you lead from those values, decisions get easier. 
The fog lifts.

Around midlife, three areas demand change:
Career, Relationships, and Identity.
All seeking attention at the same time.

This is "𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗼𝗿𝘆."

Last week's posts, talked about career and relationships
𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 3: 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆.

𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:
  • Your title no longer reflects who you are
  • You're achieving but feeling empty
  • Overdoing feels safer than feeling

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀:
You've built an identity on external validation.
Now life is asking: Who are you underneath the doing?

Early 2024, a year after leaving my SVP role at Citi.
I sat staring at a blank screen, frozen.
Not because I didn't know what to write.
But because I didn't know who was writing.

My kids didn't need me the same way.
My parents were gone.
My career title was gone.
My daily structure was gone.

For 30 years, I was the high performer.
The problem-solver. The one with answers.
Now? I had no idea who I was underneath.

𝗠𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲-𝘂𝗽 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹?
When my coach introduced me to the work of Carl Jung.
His concept of "individuation" resonated for me.
Becoming who you truly are, not who you were supposed to be.

The old version of me, the one who performed perfectly,
who needed constant validation had to die for the new one to emerge.

And that's grief.
Real, deep grief.

In processing this grief, here's what I am discovering:
You can't reconstruct your identity while clinging to the old one.

This lesson has been one of the hardest for me to swallow.
But the one helping me most to align with who I am becoming.

Remember: You're not lost. You're in transition.
You're not falling apart. You're finally meeting yourself.
