It all started in 1995 when my grandpa bought a copy machine and I started making counterfeit bills with my classmates pictures where the dead presidents should be. I sold them for $2 a piece or 3 for $5 until the school shut it down, so I switched to selling mix tapes before moving onto building geocities sites for local businesses. 

Some kids grew up playing with dolls or legos; I grew up playing business.

My most profitable childhood venture was mowing the neighbors lawns - I later learned that this was partially because my grandfather was fertilizing their yards while they were at work. This was before Nest and Ring when the only home security was the stay-at-home parents in the neighborhood and they didn't snitch on each other. 

I had an unconventional childhood which left me with a strong sense of purpose and confidence that I could conquer anything I chose, regardless of my experience or expertise in an area, as long as I work hard.

This led me to be the first-in-the-family to do a lot of things; starting college part time at 15, moving to Italy at 16 for a year abroad, launching and selling a company in my early 20s, moving from a 7,200 person town to NYC to work in VC-backed startups, publishing a book, selling another company, being on tv, speaking at conferences around the country, grad school, and more.

Nearly 3 decades after my first (childhood) entrepreneurial venture I'm still in the business of building businesses and love it.

Today I run A1M with one of my oldest marketing friends who I met on Twitter in the early 2000s. We split our time between advising high-growth SaaS startups and founders, working directly with clients to drive revenue through the adoption of AI and robust, automation systems, and producing content to help make good marketing more accessible for all.

Warmly is a sales orchestration platform that takes website visitor data and presents it consumably for account executives. I joined the team in its early stages and helped mature the product by adding integrations and building core features.

- Built and organized CRM integrations, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, other CRM, and SEP providers. 
- Scaled the process to stream billions of rows per second.
- PG/Elasticsearch/Kafka 
- Built Slack/Teams notification processes
- Scaled and built a Kubernetes platform
- Worked with a large distributed team to build out configurable pipelines and automation UI

Qumulex

Qumulex continues to bring corporate security into the cloud. In this role, I helped integrate various ONVIF cameras into a streaming service that allowed companies to monitor and record events in real-time. 

- Mentored developers as they learned Kubernetes and cloud security practices.
- Built new microservices to manage video streams and correct video data.
- Integrated early AI to detect different objects. 
- Helped troubleshoot and maintain a distributed presence and cloud Kubernetes system.

Back End Developer

Parachut

Parachut built the first circular marketplace for access to creative gear. You can access a set amount of equipment and swap anytime by paying a monthly subscription. Our inventory comes from individual owners looking to monetize their idle gear. The marketplace utilized NextJS and a host of Knative packages. Our early use of Knative helped us scale our application using spot instances. NextJS helped us build out easily searchable pages that attracted people inserted in our available gear.

Parachut also crawled a massive amount of data from Flickr and 500px. We used early AI models to help recommend gear to subscribers. 

- Built a circular marketplace for people to rent and return equipment.
- Created a warehousing system that completely automated operations. And logistics.
- The system scaled to $25M+ in equipment and $250k+ MRR.
- Maintained a Kubernetes cluster
- Integrated with third-party services like HubSpot, Salesforce, SugarCRM, Segment, Stripe, Dwolla, and Firebase.
- Created crawlers that constantly collected data.
- Integrated crawled data into chatbot suggestions using a vector db.

Access Idaho

I assisted the State of Idaho in establishing multiple WordPress sites and guided various agencies in developing accessible software. Our company implemented guidelines and practices aimed at modernizing the state's web presence. Additionally, I created a front-end library for building applications for the state, which utilized Polymer.

- Developed a WordPress theme and plugin framework that state agencies implemented.
- Worked with state agencies to implement a rigorous set of UX/accessibility guidelines.
Integrated closely with backend developers using Grails and ASP.NET Core/MVC.

Front End Developer

Instabuild

Instabuild was a website design company. We built and maintained a large WordPress Multisite of approximately 24k websites. Later, I developed our drag-and-drop solution in Angular (v1) and Laravel, allowing designers to create custom sites with an interface similar to Photoshop. As a reference point, Wix was still a popular Flash website builder.

- Maintained a large distributed WordPress MU cluster on private servers housed at TW Telecom in Boise, Idaho.
- Built a custom drag-and-drop website builder using Angular and NodeJS. (c. 2012)
- Developed a customer portal that allowed customers to modify their sites and edit account information.
- Scaled the Instabuild platform to host around 24k websites.
