It all started in 1995 when my grandpa bought a copy machine and I started making counterfeit bills with my classmates pictures where the dead presidents should be. I sold them for $2 a piece or 3 for $5 until the school shut it down, so I switched to selling mix tapes before moving onto building geocities sites for local businesses. 

Some kids grew up playing with dolls or legos; I grew up playing business.

My most profitable childhood venture was mowing the neighbors lawns - I later learned that this was partially because my grandfather was fertilizing their yards while they were at work. This was before Nest and Ring when the only home security was the stay-at-home parents in the neighborhood and they didn't snitch on each other. 

I had an unconventional childhood which left me with a strong sense of purpose and confidence that I could conquer anything I chose, regardless of my experience or expertise in an area, as long as I work hard.

This led me to be the first-in-the-family to do a lot of things; starting college part time at 15, moving to Italy at 16 for a year abroad, launching and selling a company in my early 20s, moving from a 7,200 person town to NYC to work in VC-backed startups, publishing a book, selling another company, being on tv, speaking at conferences around the country, grad school, and more.

Nearly 3 decades after my first (childhood) entrepreneurial venture I'm still in the business of building businesses and love it.

Today I run A1M with one of my oldest marketing friends who I met on Twitter in the early 2000s. We split our time between advising high-growth SaaS startups and founders, working directly with clients to drive revenue through the adoption of AI and robust, automation systems, and producing content to help make good marketing more accessible for all.

I have been working at a fast growing startup building internal and client facing tools to help improve their procurement and logistics processes. One of the main challenges that we have faced so far is how to keep a small yet efficient cloud infrastructure while providing high performance. We also work closely with the product team and users to ensure that we are delivering software that provides real value as much as we can.

As the operation has grown, we've had to adjust our requirements and adapt to new challenges. We've been constantly improving our architecture as we scale, with services and components undergoing a lot of refactoring supported by a solid automated tests strategy.

As a Tech Lead for the shopping bag and checkout journeys of one of North America's largest retail e-commerce websites, I led a team of 15 engineers in building new features, refactoring the backend layer, creating new test suites, and helping the product team prioritize their investments and efforts. Additionally, I was responsible for assisting Thoughtworks' consultants during their development cycles by conducting frequent 1:1 meetings, setting goals, and doing performance reviews.

I worked at a home decor manufacturer where I helped build internal products as part of a digital transformation initiative. This involved migrating existing programs and processes using the latest technology tools available at the time, such as Node, React, GraphQL, and MongoDB.

In another client engagement, I oversaw the development of the entire CMS ecosystem for a large diagnostic medicine holding that consisted of over 20 brands and websites. We transitioned the system from a Drupal-based solution to a new React/Gatsby one, using Kubernetes and AWS. This not only improved the overall user experience but also resulted in almost 80% savings on cloud infrastructure costs.

I led several small teams that specialized in building financial market solutions for clients (mostly banks and exchanges). The solutions had to meet a variety of requirements, including legal or government regulations, high financial risk, and tight deadlines. To ensure that we were able to meet these requirements, we had to conduct extensive research into new tools and technologies, define patterns and practices that would enable us to work more efficiently and effectively. As part of my role, I was also responsible for managing stakeholders and ensuring that they were kept informed of our progress at all times. This involved regular communication and collaboration with both internal and external teams.

I have worked on the development of web applications for several clients, including banks, insurance and healthcare management companies. In addition to my web development experience, I have also worked on business analysis for a data engineering project, where I was responsible for analyzing data sets and creating reports based on my findings. This experience has given me a strong understanding of how to use data to drive business decisions, and has allowed me to develop a range of skills related to data analysis and visualization.

I was also involved in the redesign of the web service layer project for Itaú-Unibanco bank, which was part of their new generation of web and mobile apps.

I worked in the Wealth Management and Services (capital markets) department, where I designed and developed a messaging system that connected almost 20 applications with many core banking systems and the SPB (the Brazilian financial network between banks and the Central Bank). To achieve this, I used .Net C#, SQL Server, and IBM Websphere. Itau-Unibanco was the first bank to communicate with the SPB using a technology other than Cobol.

Additionally, I conducted the analysis and redesign of back-level technology systems (mostly Cobol and VB6) to meet performance and availability standards while upgrading to new technology stacks and tools.

I worked on the complete overhaul of the supply chain, warehouse and order management processes. This included the design and development of a few modules for a brand new ERP system, which replaced the old and outdated Clipper software. The new system was developed using the latest technologies such as ASP.NET 2.0 (C#), SQL Server and Javascript. It was more efficient and user-friendly, and enabled the company to streamline their processes and increase productivity.

NHW - Net Highway

At Suzano Papel e Celulose, I was responsible for developing an intranet content management system to support the company's operations. It was designed to streamline communication and collaboration among different departments, and to provide employees with easy access to important information, working closely with the IT team to ensure that the system was integrated seamlessly with other company applications. A similar solution was later built for the Ultra Group.

I implemented dynamic content features in institutional websites using ASP, SQL Server, and Javascript. Additionally, I developed a support system for the help desk team at FAAP, a large university in São Paulo, as well as the inventory system for a supermarket chain, Carrefour.

From small startups to large enterprises, I have worked with companies across a range of industries, such as healthcare, finance, and e-commerce. Throughout my career, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and I'm passionate about staying up-to-date with emerging technologies.

In addition to being a hands-on professional, I have also been leading engineering teams for the past 6 years. I understand the importance of effective communication and collaboration between product and technical teams. I work closely with both teams to ensure that strategic decisions are made with a clear understanding of the technology and the business objectives. 

My work focuses on ensuring quality at all stages of development, including implementing architecture best practices, utilizing different automated testing strategies, enabling continuous delivery, and production deployment and observability.
