Senior Manager - New Work

Coordinating the operations of Zalando's Performance Management system, comprising of an in-company developed app that allowed employees to receive and provide 360° feedback. In this role, I coordinated the support of ZONAR's operations, which touched over 5,000 employees within the company. Additionally, I provided extensive support in overseeing the technical and data workstreams of the project, with stakeholders across tech and product management.

As the business operations lead, I was the overarching projects and operations manager for the WWC team in Naples, Italy.  As a team leader in an highly dynamic environment, my responsibilities included, but were not limited to: 

-Daily oversight of seven to 10 employees in accordance with company policy and contractual requirements, ensuring employees maintained a nearly 100% execution rate of ~9,000 contract hours;
-Acting as the main liaison for Contracting Officer's Representative (CORs) and clients to company leadership;
-Overseeing operations including recruiting, contract change management, and employee oversight, leading to the successful hiring of six new employees and assisting in two new contracts;
-Coordinating itineraries and scheduling meetings between company leadership and executive-level clients;
-Monitoring annual contract hours execution for all employees in Naples, ensuring government funds were responsibly spent.

Business Operations Lead

As the Mediterranean and Atlantic-based Naval shore installation management headquarters, US Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia provides coordination of base operating support functions for operating forces throughout the region.

As a financial management analyst with a background in communications, my greatest contribution was finding the right way to tell the numbers story: Communicating to program directors, managers, pilots, and firefighters the details and the numbers behind the operations. My goal was to communicate big ideas and complex subjects in a way that was both simple and meaningful. 

-Analyzed funding requirements within a $600M+ budget for programs across the seven international installations of a regional command, identifying cash shortfalls, spending execution rates and proper cash and control allocation for expedient obligation while maintaining compliance with business rules.

-Managed and maintained multiple reports and queried financial data to create reports for monthly and quarterly reviews. Used MS Excel for analysis, MS Access for database management, Oracle for querying and modifying reports. To create more efficiency with our reporting, I worked with a colleague to update and modify our MS Access database to include new data and reports in line with the requirements of the incoming Admiral.

Beginning as a small-scale operation in 2011, my photography company grew into a full-scale business operation by 2013, which included a vigorous social media campaign to gain followers locally and internationally. Combining my background in professional photojournalism and merging it with a passion for mothering and newborns, I created a unique boutique business in an area saturated with start-up photography. By focusing solely on birth, maternity and newborn photography, I was able to develop a niche market, gaining the trust of my clients, doctors ,and midwives, who supported my presence at the hospital. 

During my time as a small business owner, I managed my business' finances and accounting, prepared documents for taxes and priced products to maximize profitability of company. I also redesigned my business model from a broad photography business to a “boutique” photography company, focused on giving clients a personal experience with high-quality products, a shift that resulted in a 100 percent price increase.  

In growing my business, I explored various marketing techniques to connect with clients and created a uniform brand on different media platforms. At the peak of business, I reached over 800 unique people through one Facebook post, and nearly 3,000 unique visitors in one week.

Between May 2009 and August 2009, I was a Scripps News Intern at this mid-size newspaper in Naples, Florida. In August 2010, I returned as a freelancer, covering community stories from Marco Island to Fort Myers. Between December 2010 and June 2011, I worked as a Scripps Howard Fellow for this daily newspaper in Southwest Florida, spending three months as a photographer/videographer and three months as a county government beat reporter.  

Accomplishments:
	• Covered Lee County (Fort Myers) government and the county commission, including the progress of land acquisitions for an environmental program and a subsequent audit of the program. Typical preparation to cover a meeting included analysis of materials likely to come up in discussion—audits, appraisals and lawsuits among them—attending the hours-long meeting and compressing the most important news into a concise, digestible story. 
	• Reported deadline stories based on official accounts of crimes, emergencies and court documents. Key member of a team that provided award-winning breaking news coverage of teen stabbing in 2011. 
        • Photographed the life of a migrant worker and her two sons in Immokalee, Fla., traveling to her home to document her daily living situation while her husband faced deportation. Images and video from this project resulted in larger package product for the newspaper to promote as part of its immigration coverage across Southwest Florida. 
       • Documented a woman's transition from Saint Matthews Homeless Shelter to full-time employee and independent living, which helped bring recognition to state services that assist homeless single parents in maintaining stability while job hunting, including subsidized housing and childcare grants.

Edited and designed NUCC's monthly magazine, designed the weekly bulletin, maintained the website and worked on all other related publications for the church.  During my time at NUCC, I re-designed the monthly magazine to create a more professional layout, incorporating graphics and a common theme for each edition. I also began a program to upload the monthly paper magazine online through an e-publishing website, cutting down on printing and mailing costs for the church.

The Kentucky Kernel

My university experience was defined by the four years I worked at the Kentucky Kernel, the University of Kentucky's independent student newspaper. My roles included Managing Editor, Photo Editor, summer Editor-in-Chief, and reporter/photographer. Working at the only daily student newspaper in Kentucky, I was able to experience deadline reporting and project management, travel with the University of Kentucky Division I sports teams (basketball and football), oversee the production of the paper from start to finish, and collaborate with a staff of college journalists to create award-winning written and visual stories. 

One of my greatest accomplishments was an award-winning series on the university’s long history with tobacco, which was timed to coincide with a campus-wide ban of tobacco products. The multimedia piece I produced placed second in the Hearst Journalism Awards in 2010, a national competition for college journalists.

I began my TOMS internship while the company was transitioning out of the start-up phase. During my time at TOMS, I worked in the College Initiatives program, organizing and coordinating events on campuses in California and New England during the semester-long internship. 

Experience:
	• Managed 50+ college campus representatives, coordinating events to market and sell TOMS and the TOMS message. 
	• Kept a running inventory of shoes, collected money earned during campus events and kept a tally of students’ progress throughout the semester. 
	• Created the first Facebook and blog presence for TOMS, reaching out to interested students and campus reps through previously untapped social media platforms. Presented the information to the company's head of student outreach, discussing the status of the company's social media presence and the potential for TOMS to reach other with the use of burgeoning social media tools.
	• Created a tool for measuring potential campus representative success by comparing sales performances of past representatives with the personal details they provided via a WebMonkey survey, including their academic majors, goals and perceptions of the company. Data provided help the company hone in on their target representative demographic, bringing in stronger campus reps and resolving past communication issues that arose during the spring 2008 semester.
